River access draws many campers to Dinosaur Valley RV Park, which sits directly adjacent to Dinosaur Valley State Park with direct trail access to the Paluxy River. The campground occupies 80-foot pull-through sites with full hookups, each equipped with fire rings and picnic tables on mostly level pea gravel pads.
The Paluxy River flows with what Tiffany H. describes as "gentle flow - enough to be clean and refreshing but not too rough." Campers can wade from shallow areas to deeper pools, with rocky shelves providing natural seating. Water shoes help with traction on the river bottom. A trail leads directly from the campground to river access without requiring entry to the adjacent state park.
Family amenities include separate adult and children's pools, a hot tub, playground with shade umbrellas, and a small barnyard with goats, donkeys, horses, and ponies. Staff organize evening activities like movie nights, s'mores, hayrides, and live music performances. The campground maintains a small store stocked with camping essentials and offers clean restroom and shower facilities.
Newer sites toward the back lack shade and grass coverage, while older established sites feature more vegetation. Jim H. notes "both sites we stayed at were clean, free of trash and pet waste" with "connections conveniently placed on driver side." The campground allows pets with a two-animal limit per site and accepts RVs of all ages. Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend visits.
Dinosaur World sits directly across the street for fossil exhibits and educational programs. Campers seeking a more primitive experience can explore Dinosaur Valley State Park Campground for tent camping among the actual dinosaur tracks.
