Best Campgrounds near Stafford, TX

Stafford, Texas provides convenient access to a mix of urban and suburban camping options, primarily in the form of RV resorts and established campgrounds. Most facilities are situated within 20 miles of Stafford, with options like Lakeview RV Resort and Highway 6 RV Resort offering full hookup sites for recreational vehicles alongside cabin accommodations. While tent camping is available at select locations such as Brazos Bend State Park Campground (approximately 25 miles southwest of Stafford), the region predominantly caters to RV travelers with paved sites and resort-style amenities.

Access to these mixed-use campgrounds typically requires advance reservations, particularly during peak travel periods and medical tourism seasons. "This property is well maintained by a caring and professional management staff," noted one visitor about AllStar RV Resort, highlighting the professional operations common in the area. Many RV parks in the Houston metro area provide shuttle service to the Texas Medical Center, making them popular with patients seeking treatment. The climate remains mild during winter months but summer heat and humidity can be extreme, with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F from June through September. Most campgrounds feature gated access with security measures in place, reflecting their urban setting.

Campers report high satisfaction with amenities at the RV resorts near Stafford, with multiple reviews mentioning clean facilities, swimming pools, and fitness centers. A visitor at Highway 6 RV Resort commented, "They have 2 dog runs, one of them being the largest dog run we've seen at a campground so our mali really got to sprint it out." Sites are generally level with concrete pads and full hookups, though limited shade is a common concern during summer months. While these camping areas lack the wilderness experience found in more remote locations, they serve as convenient bases for exploring the greater Houston area. Traffic noise can be noticeable at properties adjacent to major highways, and several reviewers recommend requesting sites farther from road corridors for a quieter experience.

    Jamaica Beach RV Resort

    Nice resort campground

We enjoy the lazy river, putt, putt, and kayaking on the bay. It is an easy walk to the beach. Galveston State Park is on the other side of to make a beach if you want to stay on the water. However, we really enjoy the resort setting and the people that camp here as well as the people who run the camp ground.

    Houston West RV Park

    Very convenient

This park is only about a block off of Route 10 near Houston. Great place to stay if you are just passing through. The pool and hot tub are nice, and the lake is pretty. They've got a pretty severe red ant infestation everywhere, so you can't spend too long standing outside on the gravel or the grass.

Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground

A small park that offers a charming and relaxing nature experience.

This park may be on the smaller side, but it’s full of charm!🌿 The trails are peaceful and great for spotting wildlife, while the shady trees make it perfect for hammocks or picnics. The campsites feel cozy yet spacious, and sprunki, clean, well-kept facilities make the whole experience even more enjoyable. A hidden gem worth visiting!✨

Very well maintained park with easy access and tons to do

Campsites are concrete, level, with a very nice shelter. We stayed on the beach side and easy access to the beach from pretty much any site. Restrooms are clean and well maintained all park. Rangers were very friendly and helpful. With such close proximity to Houston, it is a great weekend getaway!
