Quintana Beach County Park

Beach access and fishing opportunities draw campers to Quintana Beach County Park, where a boardwalk connects the campground to the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. The county-managed park sits along a ship channel, providing front-row views of large tankers navigating the waterway. A half-mile walk leads to a bird sanctuary that attracts wildlife enthusiasts.

The campground features concrete pads that require minimal leveling, with sites surrounded by mowed grass areas. Pull-through and loop sites accommodate RVs up to 52 feet with full hookups including 30 and 50-amp electric service. "Sites are spacious and patio is surrounded with well mowed grass," notes Debbie J.. An LNG plant operates behind the campground, occasionally sounding alarms, though reviewers report minimal odor issues.

Campers can fish from the channel wall or venture to the beach for surf fishing. The park includes outdoor shower stations for rinsing off sand and salt, plus restrooms and a playground. WiFi reaches throughout the campground but struggles with streaming. Verizon provides strong 5G coverage. Mosquitoes can be problematic during certain seasons, though steady gulf breezes help reduce their presence.

The campground stays open year-round, with weekends drawing day visitors to the beach while weekdays remain quieter. No shade covers the camping areas, making summer stays particularly hot. Prickly burrs in the grass require attention for pet owners. "Must be a good place to fish too based on all the people fishing," observes Kimberly M.. Reservations are available and recommended for weekend stays.

For a different coastal experience, Austin's Landing RV Park & Resort offers an alternative less than a mile northeast.

Many campers appreciated the level concrete sites and quality facilities including outdoor showers for beach access. The campground offers family amenities and a convenient boardwalk to the beach, though crowds vary by season and mosquitoes can be an issue.

park for viewing tankers

They fill the tankers out our back window. Walk a few hundred and you are in the gulf watching the waves.

Awesome beach campground

We love this place!! It is a short walk to the beach, big ships go right by the campground, the staff is very friendly, lots of birds and dragonflies, not crowded at all , bathrooms and showers ok, LNG plant behind campground but it doesn't stink. Sometimes alarms go off at the LNG plant but not too noisy. The only thing that sucked were the prickly burrs in the grass. We had to pick them out of our dog's feet many times. The beach was great. Dogs allowed everywhere as long as leashed. Great place to relax. Must be a good place to fish too based on all the people fishing.

Quintana Beach

My fiance and I had a fantastic time camping out on the beach. Besides the unexpected debris, everything else was awesome!

Nice beach campground

We visited in August and the campground was less than half full. It has nice facilities and a nice boardwalk to the beach. The weekends get a lot of day visitors to the beach but the weekdays were very quiet. Decent beach although there were a lot of wood chips washing up two of the days we were there. The sites around the loops seemed a bit further apart than the pull throughs. WiFi existed but it wasn't great and you can't stream on it.

Nice relaxing beach park

We stayed here during the week in April, and the weather was perfect. A nice steady breeze kept the mosquitoes away, which we heard can be pretty bad. They have 30 amp FHU sites as well as 50 amp. Also have nice looking cabins for rent. A short walk over a nice boardwalk to the beach. Also half mile walk to the bird sanctuary, which is awesome for bird lovers. Free wifi, but the connection kept dropping. Great 5G connection with Verizon. Level, concrete pads. We required no leveling. Sites are spacious and patio is surrounded with well mowed grass. Campground is on a ship channel and it was fun watching the huge tankers go by. We really enjoyed this park and will return. No shade, so it would be quite hot in summer.

Laid back place

Don’t let the oil refineries scare you, once you get past them it’s a very nice place. We were here in early April and no mosquitoes. Beautiful beach a short walk from the campground.

Beach and fishing spot

Nice campground that has cabins and day use pavilions. There is pedestrian beach access and you can fish off the channel wall. Nice hidden gem.

So many mosquitoes and very crowded

We stayed in the primitive camping spots, they have since closed those down and are only allowing RVs for some reason. It’s a nice facility but it gets very crowded and the mosquitoes are ridiculous.

Beautiful!

Camping here is your best bet if you are going to be camping down near the water. The bathrooms are nice and have outdoor showers so you can rinse off the sand and salt. The have a nice boardwalk leading down to the water and they also have little shaded tables you can sit at and a decent jungle gym for the kids.
