Galveston fun

The KOA is beautiful. It has the feel of a southerneque plantation meets the beach. The lazy river is a fun additional. Everything is clean. Mosquitoes are our of hand but would stay here again !

Very comfortable place to stay.

I liked this KOA. The location is fabulous- just a short walk to the huge public beach. Very dog friendly campground, and dogs are welcome on the beach. Clean showers and bathrooms (both in one private room), ample pay laundry, hot tub, heated pool and LAZY RIVER! Awesome :) We'll be back.

Best KOA I’ve Been To

This is the cleanest KOA I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. We are here for 5 weeks for last part of March and all of April. Lots of things to do. The staff keeps everyone up to date with activities via text message. We get our packages shipped either right to our lot or they get dropped off at the front office for later pickup. Easy access to the Beach.

Amazing week by the beach!!

What a great park!! We had been there a couple years ago, before it was a KOA and glad it still had the same feel!! We LOVED it!! The weather was perfect, the beach is accross the highway (easy to walk to) and there are multiple beaches along the island that you can drive to and some, even drive on!! The park had a pool, lazy river, dog park, cabins, nice laundryroom and adult beverages served at the office as well as available in their store. The staff was awesome and they keep you informed by text about goings on in the park. We booked again for next year!

New KOA

This is now a KOA property as of Feb, 2021. They added more sites, and are planting palm trees to replace all that were lost in the Texas freeze.

Park has a pool, hot tub, and lazy river. Plans for a playground are in the works.

We enjoyed our time here. Clean park and sites are well spaced out.

Great place to relax

Very clean campground with pool, hot tub and lazy river. The campground does a really good job at having activities of some sort daily. The staff are very polite and keep the place nice and clean. This is a perfect place to come and unwind but if you are coming for the attractions in Galveston it is at least a twenty minute drive into town. There is easy beach access right across the street which is an easy walk or bike ride.

Nice spot

Nice and very clean campground. Pretty easy Bach access across quiet highway. A bit far from restaurants (30 min) but we’ll away from the crowds in Galveston.

Great location

Enjoyed the campground, as we were there in March 2021. They transitioned to KOA the month prior. The park was well-kept and conveniently located across the street from the beach. Was a bit windy when we went, but we still enjoyed the visit. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Checkout is at 11AM sharp: at 10:45AM you receive a gruff visit from the camp Sergeant Major inquiring about your intended departure and if you are aware the checkout time is 11AM:-)

A well-laid out park acquired by KOA in Feb. 2021

This is a nice RV park that was well laid out when built, and it seems they are continuing that as they expand the number of sites. Note that we were there during the transition from the Galveston Island RV Resort to the Galveston Island KOA. So, there's no telling what KOA might do regarding prices, amenities, policies, etc. Therefore, our review is based on the structure and layout of the park.

We found the sites to be large with plenty of room in between rigs compared to many RV parks, including most of the others on Galveston Island. There is electric (50- and 30-amp), water, and sewer on each site. Many of the sites are pull-throughs. The ones along the outside rows are back-in sites but have the advantage of no roads or neighbors behind you.

The roads through the park are nice and wide, so there is plenty of room to maneuver large rigs.

The bathroom facilities are decent; reminiscent of residential bathrooms. It's nice that there are 4 bathrooms with showers and they are unisex. We never ended up waiting. Plenty of hot water, although pressure from the older showerheads seemed lacking at times.

The laundry room was clean and the machines worked reasonably well. There were 5 washers and 5 dryers available (when they were all working).

The location could be good or bad depending on your priorities. It's an easy walk across the road to the beach to reach the Gulf of Mexico and the beach stretches for miles. It's also quieter in this area because you are on the west end and not near the city. However, that could be a downside for some folks. It's a solid 20-minute drive to get to town for restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. That may seem long if you want to go in and out of the city a lot, and it's too far to bike it or walk it, so you have to have a vehicle to drive into town with. There are gas stations and a small grocery store within a few miles.

As I mentioned, this is now a KOA, so I don't know what they're going to do with the pool, hot tub, and lazy river. (All three were closed while we were there in February, so can't really comment much on them.) A KOA representative told us they are looking at adding a playground to the park.

If it had not been bought by KOA, we would have gone back here whenever we are in the Galveston area. Until we see what KOA does with their rates and policies, we simply don't know if we will return.

Nice RV Park Across Street from the Gulf

We really enjoyed our vacation at Galveston Island RV Park.  The park is fairly new and very well kept.  Bathrooms and showers are super clean.  There is a nice swimming pool, lazy river and a huge hot tub to enjoy!  They sell frozen margaritas and pina coladas in the office, which is a nice touch!  The sites are not shaded at all, which makes it hot for summer camping.  There are plenty of palm trees, they're just not fully grown yet.  We walked across the street to the beach every day, which was really nice.  It's a little ways out of town and there are no restaurants nearby, which was a con, but definitely will not stop us from staying here again.

Great Beach Camping!

This is a great resort just 20 minutes from the busy Strand and Seawall area. The resort is very nice and extremely clean with ample spots. There is a pool, lazy river, dog park and just a short walk to the beach. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and there is nice area to purchase drinks and snacks and relax near the pool. We will definitely be going back!

Would've been perfect

Beautiful campground, amazing sunsets. Level, concrete sites.

We were misled over the phone that we would be getting their Good Sam discount (and AGAIN once we got there- were assured at checkout it would be taken care of). NOT the case. They didn't honor it (because we "already got the best price", eventhough they knew what we had booked under).

We were right in the middle of party central- people were constantly talking all around our rv (the sites all around us were together), so they'd use our site as theirs (trash, sippy cups from them in our site). Blared music at all hours (owners never said a word).

Was SO happy to leave there and get a quiet nights rest elsewhere. Wasn't worth the money for the constant noise.

Great Experience in every catagory

This was an amazing park and we will stay again and again. The spots are wide with plenty of room to maneuver. All the roadways are nice and wide as well. The staff is top notch, super attentive and friendly. Great access to the beaches and the sunsets were awesome every single night. Even the stars were nice and bright. Great WiFi, hookups well maintained. Great experience overall.

Clean Park

Very nice park with all the amenities. Concrete pad, two pools, hot tub, private bath and shower rooms. There’s also an on-site pizza maker and a nice laundry room in which you need to use a debit or credit card with each machine. No need to use quarters. There is beach access right across the street. They have a store with a two flavored daiquiri machines. We stayed 3 nights and loved it. You cannot go wrong staying at this park. Off season rates are the best. And if you use the online booking you will save money. If you call the front office I was told the rates can be higher.

Nice campground close to ocean

This is the third RV site we have stayed in since we started full timing. Very nice park away from the husle and bussle of the tourist areas but close enough to still enjoy them when we wanted to. It is nice to have cemented parking areas and roads. Nice pool, store, laundry faclities and wash rooms.

Awesome Campground

We had a lot of fun at this campground! Everything was clean, the spots were concrete pads, and were easy to back in to. Everyone was quiet, no loud music. The pool, hot tub, and lazy river were all nice and clean, not crowded either. I would recommend bringing your own tube for the lazy river since they do not provide any. The sunset views over the bay were gorgeous! The beach was right across the street, beach access was a quick golf cart, or walk.
