Best RV Parks & Resorts near Splendora, TX

Splendora's RV accommodations include well-established parks with full hookup capabilities throughout the area. Forest Retreat RV Park features large concrete level sites with 50-amp electrical connections and water hookups, while nearby Lone Star Lakes RV Park provides similar amenities plus fishing opportunities in its private 4-acre lake. Woodland Lakes RV Park offers shaded sites with three fishing ponds, free WiFi and cable, making it popular with long-term guests. Many parks accommodate big rigs with pull-through options, though some require careful navigation due to tree placement. "The spacious, level concrete sites make for a comfortable stay. The office and registration process exude warmth and friendliness."

Most RV parks in the region operate year-round, with on-site amenities varying significantly between properties. Several campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations, although not all smaller facilities offer this service. Cell service remains consistent throughout the area given the proximity to Houston's metropolitan coverage. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated areas at select parks. Recreational facilities differ between locations - some feature swimming pools, while others emphasize fishing access or proximity to nearby attractions. During peak travel seasons, particularly holidays, advance reservations are recommended as parks with water features tend to fill quickly. A visitor commented that "the driveways and turns are not exactly big-rig friendly as some other campsites," noting maneuvering challenges at certain locations.

    Woodland Lakes RV Park

    Extremely Nice Park with Ducks!

Extremely nice RV park with large spaces and gravel parking area. Spaces are wide and have a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water is separated, I hate it when water is on the electrical box! Internet speed is really good and they have cable TV hookups. Two laundry facilities, multiple dumpsters, kids play area, dog run, and multiple fishing ponds. There are a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term. If you need to be in the north Houston area, definitely highly recommended.

    USA RV Resorts Marina Bay

    Central location in Kemah, TX

New, smaller park with all the amenities. Level concrete pads will accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. All are back in sites with sewer, city water, 20/30/50 amp power, cable TV, and WiFi included. There’s a nice club house for parties, laundry facilities, a pool next to the bayou, fishing and kayaking/canoeing in the bayou and a friendly staff that keeps the park clean and cared for.

    Rainbow's End RV Park

The Escapees HQ at Rainbows End

If you are a full tie RVer you have probably heard of the Escapees. The Escapees is the largest mail forwarding service and the clyb caters to full time RVers. Livingston TX is their main Headquarters, they do have 2 other semi Headquarters in FL and SD. If you are a full timer you now you need a domicile address and a mailing address for many things, this is how we do it. They have over 17,000 subscribers to their mail forwarding service, we are one of them. We stopped by this July to get our domicile done, vehicle registration, drivers license, voter registration etc. It was hot we will not come back in July again.

The campground is split into 2 main areas. They have a lot of deeded lots for you to buy which has houses, motor homes, park trailer or just roof for your RV. They have long term areas, overnighter, short long term, weekly or daily. You do not need to be a member of the Escapees to camp here, but we hear in the winter it does get full.

Camping full hook ups, electric and water, or just dry camping. They have just got some new internet on the area we were camping in and it was good enough to stream. They have a pool, clb house, activity center, 2 laundries, meeting rooms and a lot to do even in the summer. Most site are fairly level most gravel but do have some concrete pads. If it wasn't so hot I am sure we would have enjoyed it even more. One nice thing is they have a care center, areas that you can set up your RV and if you have something wrong with you they will help you out, take you to Drs, provide meals, help you. This is nice for us older folks that we worry about what happens if we need long stay for treatments and we have no home base.

    South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

    Stagecoach RV Park

Clean, well kept and friendly host.

This is more like a mobile home park for RV’s than a camping experience. Each space is a pull through that has a picnic table and full hookups including sewer. Most sites have trees. Most spaces are occupied by long term tenants as evidenced by skirting around the rigs. Evidently several children live here as well. There is a dedicated area to take dogs so they can do their business.
Quite a few speed bumps. No gates so anyone can enter/exit at will. Laundry room and bathrooms have locks. Bathrooms are clean and free hot water. Pool/hot tub were closed. I stayed 3 nights in April. It felt safe, so I’d stay here again. People said hello when walking and waved when they drove by.

Worst thing was the number of speed bumps…useful but not really RV friendly. I’ve added photos, and although I copied them from another source, they are valid photos of what I saw and experienced.

    Houston East RV Resort

    Beautiful Landscaped Sites

Ok these are all premium sites, resort is easy off and on i-10. Gated resort, nice sites, roads are all nice concrete, with concrete parking pads for RV and or tow vehicles. The sites are nicely landscaped, grass, trees, picnic tables, full hookups, include cable and wifi. It is located right off and beside i-10, so there is road noise, but everything food, restaurants, shopping, is all nearby. It's a great stop if traveling i-10 passing through. Oh they also have covered RV sites should you want to beat some of that sunshine off your rig in summer heat. There is a small pool that is nice, and a lake behind campground so one row of sites has lake views. We just took a pull through site under the canopy of trees, it's very nice!

    Southlake RV Resort

    Nice clean park

The park is VERY clean and also quiet! It’s close to everything so thats a major plus. However it does have A LOT of rules. Also, a lot of long term residents live here. The back in spots are a little tight so if you’re not great at backing in just get a pull through. The facilities are immaculate . It’s been worth the price so far.

    Rayford Crossing RV Resort

    Well Managed and Manicured

We had to return our travel trailer to the dealership for some warranty work and wanted to have one last little getaway before handing it over. We opted to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the dealership, and this campground had an opening. So, we booked one of the last remaining sites and hit the road!

Located in a suburban area north of Houston, the campground was very easy to find. It was nestled among nice suburban homes but still close to the amenities of a suburban city. We arrived after the employees left the front desk, so they instructed us to pick up our materials at the front office. We immediately noticed how well maintained this campground was. We easily found Site 21, a standard back in site. The sites are all concrete and level with a yard of grass and full hookups, which we really appreciate. We were surprised that our site didn’t have a picnic table like we thought, but we probably could have called to request one (wasn’t a huge issue in this July Texas heat).

This campground is more like a residential area. We noticed that many vehicles were gone early on a weekday morning. Many of the “campers” had potted plants and other items that indicated they were long-term occupants. There were many rules for the campground such as no items allowed on the grass or under RVs and no trash cans at sites, but none of these were unreasonable. Staff was visible throughout the day, often maintaining the grounds and collecting trash at each site (trash collection is each morning). It was extremely quiet, clean, and manicured.

Would we visit this campground again? Yes, if we plan to visit the Houston area for business in the future. We prefer the forest and the solitude that it affords, but this is a nice place to stay if you have business in the area. Rayford Crossing has amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing. The nice paved roads and sites and the dog park were nice as well. Our only complaints would be the price and lack of privacy, but I guess that’s to be expected in an RV resort near a major US city like Houston. Basically, it served our purpose.

Guide to Splendora

RV camping near Splendora, Texas offers spacious concrete sites with full hookups throughout the region. Located in the piney woods of Montgomery County about 35 miles northeast of Houston, Splendora experiences humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F, making shaded camping spots particularly valuable during peak season.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Lone Star Lakes RV Park, campers can enjoy free fishing in their private 4-acre lake. As one camper noted, "Free fishing in their 4 acre private lake" is among their favorite amenities, along with "hundreds of large trees that are so welcome in the Houston weather."

Swimming and recreation: Thousand Trails Lake Conroe offers multiple water recreation options with "a large lake and two ponds, a pool, putt putt, & tons of activities for kids!" The campground features boat rentals, a boat launch, and a beach area for families.

Local exploration: The campgrounds near Splendora provide easy access to nearby attractions while maintaining a natural setting. One visitor at Northlake RV Resort mentioned it "feels secluded but it is in a well-populated area" with opportunities for "walking, biking and fishing" right on the property.

What campers like

Well-maintained grounds: Forest Retreat RV Park receives praise for its meticulous upkeep. A reviewer highlighted that "Grounds/pool area are well kept; one of the cleanest park grounds I have seen as of late" and that the park is "easy to navigate; a great plus."

Nature amenities: Campers appreciate the natural features at Woodland Lakes RV Park, with its "shaded sites, easily accessible and very peaceful" environment. The park features "3 fishing ponds and a great view" that visitors frequently mention in reviews.

Quiet atmosphere: Despite proximity to urban amenities, campgrounds in the area maintain peaceful settings. One visitor to Woodland Lakes noted it offers a "nice and quiet" experience while being "near Woodlands medical facilities, next to an elementary school, H.E.B. around the corner."

What you should know

Site selection: When staying at larger resorts, site selection can impact your experience. At Thousand Trails Lake Conroe, "you cannot reserve a specific site. You drive around and pick a site, then call and let them know which one you're in." A camper mentioned "we were looking for a quiet, private site and there are very few of those."

Connectivity services: While many parks advertise WiFi, service levels vary. As one reviewer at Dunn Right RV Park noted, "Wifi available as well as full 30/50 amp hookups," but at Thousand Trails, a camper found that "wifi is a pay-by-the-day only offer" despite being listed as an amenity.

Year-round availability: Most campgrounds in the Splendora area operate throughout the year, making this a viable camping destination regardless of season. However, summer heat makes shaded sites particularly valuable, with one camper noting they "would for sure come back" to Dunn Right RV Park but were "not sure if I'd like to stay here in the middle of summer."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Family campers should look for parks with dedicated children's facilities. Northlake RV Resort offers "amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing."

Holiday activities: Some campgrounds offer special seasonal programming for families. At Venice On The Lake, amenities include "Children's Playground, Fishing Area, Boat Ramp, Swimming Pool" and various available activities including "Card Games, Crafts, Fishing, Horseshoes, Swimming."

Safety considerations: Families appreciate secure campgrounds in the area. One camper at Northlake RV Resort felt "very safe and secure being here. Comfortable enough to take a walk at 5:30 am!" This peace of mind is important for families with young children.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: RV campers should verify site dimensions before booking. At Lone Star Lakes, one RVer cautioned about accessibility: "The driveways and turns are not exactly big-rig friendly as some other campsites" and mentioned having "to do quite a non-fun manouver to get out of there."

Hookup configuration: Check the specific hookup types available. At Woodland Lakes, campers appreciate that "spaces are wide and have a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water is separated, I hate it when water is on the electrical box!"

Extended stay options: Many parks cater to both short and long-term RV campers. Woodland Lakes "features large spaces and gravel parking area" and has "a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term."
