Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Fulton, TX

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Sandollar Resort & RV Park accepts pets at all full hookup sites, offering both spacious concrete pads and nearby access to waterfront areas where dogs can explore. The park features quiet surroundings where pets can relax without excessive noise disruptions. Most pet-friendly campgrounds near Fulton require dogs to be leashed when outside RVs. Bay View RV Resort provides large tree-shaded sites widely spaced apart, creating natural walking areas for pets on the rustic property. Ancient Oaks RV Park stands just over a mile from beach access, giving pet owners convenient options for exercising dogs. The sites throughout Rockport RV Resort accommodate tents, RVs, and pet-friendly cabins with concrete pads and reliable utility hookups.

The coastal location offers several advantages for camping with dogs, including mild winter temperatures and multiple walking options along shorelines. Dogs frequently encounter stickers and burrs in certain areas, particularly at Taylor Oaks RV Park's nearby dog park, requiring owners to check paws regularly. Rockport Beach provides dog-walking opportunities within a mile of several campgrounds. Most RV parks implement standard pet policies including waste cleanup requirements, leash rules when outside vehicles, and limitations on barking during quiet hours. Some campers note that the widely spaced sites at Bay View create better environments for pets that need more space to relax. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound along the coastal area, though pet owners should maintain control of dogs when birds or other animals are present.

    Southern Oaks Luxury RV Park

Nice, clean place to stay a while.

We stayed for four nights and we enjoyed our stay. The roads and pads were all nice, level concrete.

I didn't see the pool myself, but my wife and daughter enjoyed it while I was at work. The playgrounds were nice, but could use some more shade. Same with the dog park.

The dog water fountains at the dog park were not working, so that would have been nice since it is so hot right now. The dog park is just open space with a fence right now, but the front desk said there are agility features coming soon.

The grass and trees were clean and trimmed, but there are stickers in the grass, so beware stepping off the concrete pad barefoot.

    Beautiful Place

It's a great place to stay !!! Staff is nice and very helpful. Showers are clean. Every lot is different and some are very unique !!! I would venture to say that they all have different owners and some are for sale. The best part is the short walk or golf cart ride to the beach and ocean!!! Now for the downside of this place that we have found ! Mosquitoes in the evenings and mornings are intense especially around the ponds and grassy areas. So if you have pets be prepared to get eaten !!! The pet areas are close to the ponds and are small to say the least !!! The pet areas are scattered around the camp sites. Some are close to some of the campers. There are two vacant lots on the very Eastside of the property that are ok. The problem with these are that they have stickers (sand burrs)and if you have small hairy dogs it could be a horrible experience for your pet!!!

There are some full time owners/ residents/ guests. We have found a mix of campers. From the $30 k to the over $500 k plus crowd. Some people are friendly and some are not!!!! There is a private vibe to most of the crowd we feel!!!

You can also rent golf carts and drive them to Port A. You will have to drive them on the beach if you want to go to town on them. They are not allowed on the Highway !!

These are just our opinions and what we have experienced !! Have a great camping experience!!! That is all!!!

    Taylor Oaks RV Park

Not my favorite way to camp but the price was right

Not my favorite way to camp, but the price was right. We were pretty cramped but the whole place was very quiet. There weren't any kids at all, other than ours. Dog friendly environment but none running loose at all. There was a friendly peacock wandering about who loved grapes.

    Easy parking, pull through spots.

The laundry room was very clean which was much appreciated. $1.75 per washer & dryer.

We were parked right across from the owners/manager which was fine, just felt a bit like we were watched. Mind you, we're used to being in the middle of no where though😂. Owners helped us park and have been super friendly the whole time.

There's a small dog park across from the rv park, which was full of burrs and mosquitoes unfortunately. Apparently they are both bad this year.

It was only 0.4 miles to the water and 1 mile to rockport beach- we biked and walked.. it was a nice area to explore. Photo is from rockport beach taken in November.

Recently stayed here cause we got in late and they were the only 1 open to take us in. Well lighten up and loved the laundry room. The manager came out to settle up the next morning and even gave us a free rv mug for our stay. Pet friendly.  Showers  were nice & clean! Wish the pool was open because we had to stay another night but we were told it will be ready soon. The friendly German Shepherd was a bonus since we had our pets out and seems to be unbothered them😳. We will be back for sure. Thank you for the pleasant stay.

Guide to Fulton

Camping near Fulton, Texas offers coastal advantages with short driving distances to water recreation areas in most directions. The coastal region features several wildlife preserves and migratory bird habitats that complement the nearby camping options. Winter temperatures typically remain mild enough for comfortable tent camping throughout the season, though strong coastal winds can create challenges for tent setup.

What to do

Fishing from piers: Goose Island State Park provides excellent fishing access from its newly renovated pier. "They offer both 30 amp and 50 amp service, water, fire ring, table on cement pad and nice flat spots. Good day use spots and excellent boat ramp with a fish cleaning table," notes Jeff in his review.

Visit The Big Tree: Several campgrounds provide convenient access to this ancient oak. "Make sure to see 'The Big Tree' which is a short drive/bike ride away," recommends Harry H. This landmark oak is purportedly 1000-2000 years old and stands as a natural monument in the area.

Wildlife viewing: The coastal location creates opportunities for bird watching, especially during migration seasons. According to Larry at Goose Island State Park, "Wish I would have come better prepared to fish. Did see a Whooping Crane." The area attracts numerous rare and migratory bird species throughout the year.

What campers like

Private wooded campsites: Enchanted Oaks RV Park offers sites with natural vegetation barriers. According to Mike K., "This is a great place to camp! All sites have concrete pads. Lots of room and plenty of trees." The layout provides more privacy than typical RV parks.

Beach camping options: Port Aransas Permit Beach allows camping directly on the sand with appropriate permits. "Beautiful beaches, some of the clearest water you will find in Texas. Head towards the state park for quieter crowds," recommends Tim W. The permit system keeps crowds manageable even during peak seasons.

Heated pools for winter visitors: Winter Texans appreciate facilities that accommodate cooler weather. According to Holly S. at Port A RV Resort, "The pools and rec centers are top notch. Home town feel everywhere you go." Another reviewer specifically mentions, "They have 2 wonderful swimming pools that are heated, yes I said heated. Perfect for the winter Texans."

What you should know

Beach permit requirements: For beach camping near Fulton, permits are necessary but affordable. "Just get a $12 parking permit at the stripes gas station and you're good to stay over night," explains Tiffany S. about Port Aransas Beach. These permits typically allow up to three days of camping in one location.

Seasonal crowds: The beaches experience significant fluctuations in visitor numbers. "Great on the beach camping. $12/yr. You have to move every 3 days. Got very busy during spring break weekend, otherwise quiet," notes Mark F. about Port Aransas Beach camping.

Mosquito preparation: The coastal wetland environment creates ideal conditions for insects. "Yes there are bugs, but this is in the middle of reclaimed wetlands, so be prepared! This is their world and we must adapt," advises Jeff about Rockport RV Resort by Rjourney.

Tips for camping with families

Hurricane recovery awareness: Some areas continue to show signs of past storm damage. Peg F. notes about Goose Island, "The campground was nice and clean. There is still a lot of damage from the hurricane." When visiting with children, prepare them for seeing restoration work in progress.

Bike-friendly areas: Several campgrounds offer safe cycling opportunities for families. Sheila B. mentions at Port A RV Resort, "We typically ride our bicycles around to eat, sightsee, or just enjoy the island." Another camper specifically notes, "My husband and I love to ride our bike to town on the nice wide sidewalks (that are labeled for bikes or walking)."

Dog-friendly campgrounds near Fulton: For families traveling with pets, Bay View RV Resort offers spacious sites. "The sites are large and tree-shaded, the sites are widely spread apart," notes HandL C. The spread-out layout provides better accommodation for active dogs that need exercise space.

Tips from RVers

Sand management: RVs parked near beaches require extra maintenance. Angela R. advises about Port Aransas Beach camping, "Be ready to deal with fine sand in your rv and everything." Regular sweeping and covering sensitive electronics helps reduce sand-related issues.

Site selection strategies: When booking at dog-friendly campgrounds near Fulton, consider wind patterns and location. David N. shares from experience, "We hit some big wind 3/21/22. We were in the beach front with waves crashing over so we got luck and moved to the wooded area." Backing sites provide more stability in coastal winds.

Utility placement awareness: Some older parks have unusual hookup configurations. A reviewer at Sandollar Resort & RV Park explains, "Our water and sewer was on the correct side but electric and cable on the other side. Glad we had a super long coax cable and power cable." Bringing extension cords and longer cables prepares you for these situations.
