Wilderness Oaks RV Resort

Wilderness Oaks RV Resort operates year-round in Rockport with reservations available and accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. The resort sits adjacent to a small private aircraft airport, where Air National Guard planes conduct daytime practice landings. Pull-through sites closer to the road experience traffic noise during morning and evening commute hours.

The property features individual family-style bathrooms, a heated saltwater swimming pool, and a community room with full kitchen plus separate game room. A large laundry facility and fitness area serve guests, while deer regularly walk through the grounds during morning and evening hours. The eastern section of the park has drainage issues that can trap larger RVs during heavy rains, as one reviewer discovered when unable to leave their site.

Management maintains an active social calendar with potluck dinners and craft events in the community hall. "First off, the management is amazing," notes Jeanne A., praising their helpfulness with both mechanical and personal issues. The staff keeps dog treats on hand and allows permanent modifications like porches, plants, and hummingbird feeders for long-term guests. Many snowbirds return annually or store RVs year-round at the facility.

Cell service varies by provider, with some campers relying on personal hotspots rather than the park's WiFi system. The resort honors Passport America discounts and caters to RV groups and rallies.

Many visitors appreciated the spacious concrete sites, excellent staff service, and quality amenities including heated saltwater pool. Airport and highway noise concerns were noted, though rates remain very reasonable.

Friendly, helpful, delightful folks and lovely Park

We wanted to give a shout out, to Wilderness Oaks RV Resort in Rockport Texas. First off, the management is amazing. Courteous, informative, helpful and always bright and cheerful, makes dealing with them a enjoyable. If you have any issues such as mechanical or personal, they got your back! Their love of animals shows cuz they always have cookies for your pup no matter where in the resort they run across you! Our dog Pandy, a 170 pound Newfoundland lady, is treated like a Diva and she responds accordingly with affection to anyone in the crew to the point she drags my hubby to get to them haha. They have lots that will fit various sized RV’s including behemoths and they have storage area to park extra vehicles or trailers and it’s a reasonable monthly fee. This RV Resort is a well-established business and the maintenance crew work nonstop to keep this place tidy. You can tell its appreciated because so many snowbirds have been retuning for years, and others leave their rigs year around! They let you have porches built for your RV if you’re tired of using you’re built in stairs, you can have plants and flowers and hummingbird feeders even! The Deer walk right through the park, unafraid and we see them mornings and evenings EVERY DAY! Their laundry room is huge, and the gym is great, as well as the fabulous salt water pool! The community hall has tons of events everyday including pot lucks now and then and craft fairs as well as games of all kinds. The facilities are immaculate, showers, bathrooms everything is well presented and their cleaning crew does a excellent job. Bill the manager actually held a incredible luau this winter, cooked a whole pig for it and tons other foods were provided as well as people pot lucked it too.. it was flat out delicious!! As far as accommodations for disabilities of different flavors this place tries to meet all standards and I was in a wheel chair for the first 2 years we came and NEVER felt unable to do whatever I wished or go wherever I wanted here, the paved areas and ramps to the office are perfect. Everyone is so sweet and tries so hard to be accommodating, I feel like this is a second family now. I spent 2 weeks hospitalized with pneumonia and this place jumped in to help Randy deal with the dog so he didn’t have to worry about her, everyone offered to take turns looking after her every day while he traveled half hour twice a day and stayed for 2 or 3 hours with me at the hospital. Even the regular’s in the park offered their help! We feel blessed. Randy, Jeanne and Pandy

Management is horrible! Go elsewhere

The park is old, spots are short, there are stickers all over, gophers are making mounds everywhere & the WiFi sucked! I was there to work camp!! Do NOT go there unless you want to be yelled at, belittled, I walked on eggshells everyday! Even customers were yelled at as Bill was out of control a lot! 8+ of us work campers were gone in 2+ months!! Many of the people were very nice but they must speak up!! The owner must step in!!

Stay away!!!

Another great rally at Wilderness Oaks

Although I have hosted many rallies at this park, this time I was a guest. The staff here is absolutely great. They can get anyone into the RV sites so if you aren't great at backing, don't worry about it. They also have pull through. This time we didn't have the rally room to ourselves as the Winter Texans are here but it was never a problem because there are several areas available and it also meant we could participate in the park activities as well. And the park has lots going on. The park breakfast was great on Saturday. There was line dancing, wreath making, hot dog roast, coffee every morning, bingo, games. Of course, they have a great salt water pool heated to 89 degrees. Bill, the park manager is great and every one of the staff members is always ready to help guests. There is so much going on in Rockport this month. You couldn't possibly get bored

Great visit

I have personally stayed at this park many times over the last 8 years and have hosted about 7 rallies for RVing Women. They have a great rally/community room with a full kitchen plus a separate game room. They also have a wonderful salt water swimming pool which is heated in the winter. Bathrooms are individual family style. Whether staying with a rally group or by yourself, the staff has always been great. They also honor Passport America and their individual and rally rates are very reasonable. I noticed that previous reviews complained about the airport. I would like to point out that it is a very small airport for small private planes and small Air National Guard planes. While the Guard planes do practice touch and go landings at times, they only fly during the day. Pull through sites are nearer the road so there is some traffic noise during morning and evening traffic times.

Okay but next to airport with poor park drainage

The previous reviewer is correct about the airport noise.

Pros:

  • Our RV site was a back-in with plenty of room on a concrete pad with a picnic table. We were in the back row.

  • Our site did not have trees hanging over like a lot of sites (we have solar panels).

Cons:

  • The campground wifi sucked. We relied more on our own Verizon wifi hotspot (we never assume park wifi is good).

  • Next to airport.

  • RV park, especially on eastern half, has seriously poor drainage. We were trapped in our RV lot, unable to leave, because the water was too deep for our Class A to go through without damage/mess of some sort.

Not very Quiet !

It is a Airport near here, and they take off every 3 to 5 minutes ! If that is not enough, than you have the major Hiway next to you ! But hey, what you expect for $ 20 ? Cause that much you pay with Pasport A.erica ?... The Staf, is very friendly.
