Canyon Lake area offers multiple full-hookup RV parks with year-round availability, including Spring Branch RV Park and Rio Guadalupe Resort & RV Park. Most sites feature 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections suitable for larger recreational vehicles. "Perfect park, perfect owners, everything is lovely," noted one camper about Spring Branch RV Park, which provides easy access from Highway 281. Summit Vacation Resort in New Braunfels maintains 153 sites with full hookups and accommodates big rigs, though fires are not permitted at this location. Pierced Oak RV Park provides 66 sites with both 30- and 50-amp connections.

Navigating to these RV parks requires careful planning during peak summer seasons when water recreation attracts heavy visitor traffic. Cell service varies throughout the Texas Hill Country region, with stronger Verizon signals reported at Spring Branch RV Park. Most facilities maintain clean restrooms and shower buildings, though amenities differ between locations. Pet policies generally allow dogs with proper leashing, and some parks like Spring Branch feature dedicated dog park areas. One visitor mentioned that "WiFi was awesome" at Rio Guadalupe Resort, though connectivity may vary across parks. Dump stations are available at most locations, making extended stays convenient for travelers exploring the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake attractions.

      Mission City RV Park

      Cream of the Crop

You don't get a much nicer RV park than this in a major city. It hits all of the marks: mass transit at your doorstep; pool, laundry, showers and a gift shop at the entrance; easy pull-through, level sites; picnic tables at each site; quaint southwestern style! This is a nice park for the overnight or the long stay, and it has easy access to major highways.

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals

Nice Park with little room between sites

The park it’s self is nice and clean.  Staff for the most part is friendly and nice.  The pool is a hopping place over summer break and on the weekends when it’s warm.  RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening.  They do have over flow parking and depending on your site it could be a good walk.

They are pet friendly and have several dog parks and potty areas through out the park.  The laundry room is like no other I’ve ever been too.  All machines operate via debit/credit cards, no more quarters!!

Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park for monthly stays or in one of their top tier sites for daily/weekly stays.

Very nice rally hall, group fire pit and group pavilion

Very nice and very clean shower and toilet facilities

Combo code required to access toilets and showers

Majority of sites are pull thru

      Cons

Just an open field. No shade. This is not even a vineyard!

      Very tight check in parking

Lots and lots of tall speed bumps throughout park

Small tree between site prevent our awning deployment

Sites tightly packed together; Our sewer connection was inches from next site’s picnic table!

Most of the time during our stay in site 80, there was a horrific odor from the sewer lift station 100 ft away

      Not dark sky friendly.

Street lights and utility pedestal lights.

Initially assigned site was changed without any notice so our request to be sited away from a street light not honored

Significant traffic noise from Hwy 87 (even at night) and we were half way down the park Unable to access all 24 cable TV channels; could only connect to 6 channels.

      Old River Road RV Resort

      Great place anytime of year!

This is a great park for a few days weeks, or a season. The sites are a decent size whether back in or pull through. All have full hookups with level sites and a picnic table. There are two dog parks, a bouncy feature, playground, basketball court, I door and outdoor pools with hot tubs as well as laundromats, exercise room, clean bathrooms with showers. They also have very nice cabins. There is a huge community/rally room with a full kitchen as well as a game room. The park has planned activities. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even have golf cars for rent. The park is located next to a river for fishing.

      Sunset RV Park

      Peace in Hill Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as a Basecamp — grounds that offer a comfortable home base that you’re happy to return to after a day of exploring the surrounding area. Ratings for this category are based on: Value to cost: 5 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, layout, accessibility): 4 Local Attraction Proximity: 4 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Amenities: 4 Customer Service: 5 Cleanliness: 4

A really lovely spot in Dripping Springs, Sunset RV Park is a small park in Hill Country outside Austin (this is not the one near Lake Travis). It’s clear that this is a destination spot for snowbirds to the area as most everyone was set-up for a long-term stay and we saw very few folks come and go during our one-week stay. The park is very quiet with close attention paid to COVID precautions (this is the first park we encountered that was 100% contact free check in).

The park is built somewhat into a hill, so some of the turns are a little tricky and our spot was a bit uneven. The space itself was a very wide asphalt driveway with a picnic table and metal fire ring below a stone wall, perhaps a bit close to our neighbors as I wasn’t totally certain it was definitely ours to use.

The amenities are pretty basic- clean laundry and bathrooms and a good enough wifi signal to allow us to use the internet easily. There’s also propane available on site. I enjoyed the layout of the grounds and each site was afforded some privacy thanks to the set-up and tiered spaces. The weekly rate of $300 was very reasonable.

Excellent access to Hamilton Pool (make reservations!), Reimers Ranch and Westcave Discovery Center. Also about 30 minutes to most of Austin including SoCo, McKinney Falls SP and 6th Street.

Reservations were made by phone with a very friendly woman and, as I mentioned, check in was contactless, so we really didn’t encounter anyone else aside from a friendly wave from folks maintaining the grounds in golf carts. The place is a nice find outside Austin and very close by to family for us, so we’re happy to have found it and will return!

      Summit Vacation Resort

      Texas Camping at its finest

We loved the quiet and peace of this RV Resort nestled in Texas Hill Country.

The Park: they have a large pool area with cafe and snacks. The property is large and spaces are spread out through out the park. The big draw is the Guadalupe River, Canyon Lake, and the woods and hills.

They have hot shoes, bath houses, laundry.

The sites: Gravel and mostly level, very few sites were unlevel. You’re surrounded by hills so it is nice and quiet. They are full hook up sites. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. Small deer herds would move through the park each evening. Many of the campers feed them corn and they know the sounds and come running out of the hills.

The campground is near grocery and hardware stores. Within an hour are several bigger towns with more stores.

Cellular: T-Mobile was decent but not great. They do have Campground WiFi that worked faster.

Canyon Lake Military - Randolph AFB

We love it here. Not for everyone.

We started with day passes, then graduated to renting out the loft cabins, then tried tent camping, and eventually and recently parked our travel trailer in the reservable RV spaces. All in the same vicinity. Made great memories at each stay.

Pro’s: Best rate in town for military (active, retired, $ disabled). Water is beautiful. Fishing can be fantastic. Lots of water activities available for rent or bring your own. Pet friendly, Great for families, most people are very respectful and wonderful to talk to. Good food and stores nearby. Lots of wildlife. Quiet. Close to town and short drive from San Antonio.

Cons: Hard to get ahold of staff to make reservations. Market is extremely expensive and staff isn’t very friendly. Lost and lots of fire ants.

We recommend it to all of our friends and family and bring them often. We love staying in the loft cabins. Some are pet friendly. We have stayed in the mobile homes on the other side of the lake once but that was not a great experience as our things were stolen off our table and covered patio (on Veterans Day) and they were only left unattended for 15 min or less. The mobile home wasn’t very nice but functional at least.

      Second Crossing (2nd-Xng) Camp

      Riverfront with full hook ups

2nd Xing is a nice family owned and operated campground located on the Guadeloupe with beautiful river access for kayaking, tubing and just relaxing. They do not have facilities but they do have a shop with all the amenities ie: firewood, beverages, toiletries and food items. Sites include 30/50 amp electric, water and sewer, fenced dog park, fire pit, picnic table and even has string lights. You can even rent campers set up that the camp and some guests offer.

    Guide to Fischer

RV camping options near Canyon Lake and Fischer provide access to the Texas Hill Country region with several established parks featuring full hookups. Spring Branch RV Park offers spacious sites with 50-amp electrical service, sewer, and water hookups on both paved and gravel roads. "Perfect park, perfect owners, everything is lovely," noted one camper who stayed at Spring Branch. Rio Guadalupe Resort & RV Park accommodates big rigs with pull-through sites and provides both water and electric connections near the Guadalupe River. Texas 281 RV Park in Bulverde maintains level sites with full hookups, while Pierced Oak RV Park features 66 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp connections and has coveted shaded spots to protect rigs from the Texas heat.

Access to these parks varies seasonally, with summer months typically requiring advance reservations due to the area's popularity for river recreation. Most parks in the region maintain clean bathhouses and shower facilities, though cell service quality fluctuates throughout the Hill Country terrain. For RV travelers with pets, several parks offer designated dog areas, with Spring Branch RV Park providing a notably large fenced dog yard that receives positive mentions in reviews. Dump stations are available at most established RV parks, though RVers should note that highway noise can be noticeable at parks situated along Highway 281. Year-round operation is common, allowing winter travelers to enjoy the milder Texas Hill Country temperatures when northern destinations become inaccessible.
