Highway noise comes with the territory at Austin Lone Star RV Community, and reviewers are consistent about that. Sites near I-35 pick up road noise during the day, though multiple campers note it settles considerably after dark. What tends to surprise first-time visitors is the spacing. Rather than the tightly packed rows common to urban RV parks, the layout here incorporates trees and shrubs between sites, giving each spot a degree of visual separation that the asphalt-and-gravel setting might not suggest from the road.
Sites are gravel with full hookups, electric, water, and sewer, and the park accommodates rigs up to 50 feet. Most spots are pull-through, with a smaller number of back-in sites along one side. Adam V. notes the trees and bushes "make it feel more natural," a detail that holds up across multiple reviews. The bathhouses draw consistent praise for cleanliness, and the laundry room includes app-based machines. A propane exchange service lets campers leave empty tanks behind the rig for refill, charged directly to the stay tab.
The campground functions primarily as a base for exploring Austin. Downtown is roughly a 15-minute drive, and grocery stores are within walking distance. A pool, fitness center, children's playground, and dog run round out the on-site amenities. The gated entry adds a layer of security that several reviewers mention appreciating. For campers wanting to extend time outdoors, Onion Creek nearby has off-leash trails worth the short trip.
Rates run $58 to $80 per night, and reservations are available year-round. The mix of full-timers and travelers passing through means the park rarely sits empty, so booking ahead is worth doing, particularly around Austin's busy event calendar. Carlyne F. describes the sites as spacious, each coming "with its own picnic table and full hook-ups," which lines up with what most reviewers report. Campers looking at campgrounds just outside Sunset Valley will find this one among the more established options in the corridor.
Austin Lone Star RV Community suits RVers who want reliable infrastructure and city access without camping far from the action.
