    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    A Plus RV Park

    Friendly Staff, Easy Highway Access

I have seen this place a million times living in the community nearby and never thought to check to see if they all tent campers. I was shocked to find out they do accommodate them so I passed through and checked out the grounds and wanted to let people know it exists!

There are two entries at the front of the property each easily accessed from the highway. Though they are gravel they are easy to navigate but do hold a little water in the rain. As you drive into the camp there are 4 main rows of camping, mostly in use by RVs however they do also accommodate tent campers. These sites can be picked up nightly or for more long term use so many people at this park have called this their home for a bit. Despite obvious signs of the long term dwellers, the grounds are clean and well maintained and don't look cluttered like some long term campgrounds will begin to look.

The site offers nice restrooms with showers, a bbq for general use, a rec room perfect for having your breakfast or dinner or perhaps a game of cards with friends and has connections for RVs up to 50 amp as well as a dump station.

For the tent camper sites are wide enough to be comfortable to move around and have scattered picnic tables. The tent camping sites are located on a grassy area next to the pond so they are not squished between big rigs and have a bit more privacy.

This site might not look as elaborate as some, but it more than makes up for the few things you do not have by its friendly staff and on site mechanic.

    TIPS:

    • Call in advance if looking for an RV site, they do have several spaces available but during certain times of the year they do fill up as they are centrally located to many things.

    • Check out the LBJ Grasslands which are nearby when visiting this location, a great get away for some outdoor activities.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Holiday Park Campground

Hard to Believe You’re Next to a Big City

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground(CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77,& 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83- 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

This location has all your needs for as long of a stay you ever need."

Outdoor recreation: Lakes and parks surrounding Coppell offer fishing and hiking options. A camper at Northside RV Resort shared, "There is a pond with a fountain and a HUGE fireplace (not fire pit) for relaxing." The park features jogging trails around its man-made lake, making it suitable for morning exercise.

What campers like

Shade coverage: Unlike many urban RV parks, several campgrounds near Coppell feature mature trees. A guest at Treetops RV Resort commented, "Our spot was 171 and was very well shaded, the only thing is our trailer was level but we felt like we were leaning back."

Convenient location: The strategic position between Dallas and Fort Worth makes these RV parks practical for exploring both cities. As one camper at Northlake Village RV Park stated, "Secluded quiet place near Roanoke and Grapevine. Would go back!!"

Security features: Many Coppell area RV parks prioritize safety with controlled access. A visitor at Northside RV Resort appreciated that "The park also has a gate with a code needed to enter. The park was very clean with four bathroom/shower rooms and laundry room as well."

What you should know

Limited fire options: Fire restrictions exist at several RV campgrounds near Coppell. Northlake Village RV Park prohibits open fires, while other parks may allow them seasonally depending on local burn bans and drought conditions.

Weather preparedness: The Texas climate demands planning, especially during summer months. A camper at Shady Creek RV Park noted, "We traveled from West Texas, stayed 4 nights, had rain almost every day. The park is well laid out, small clean well maintained yards."

Tips from RVers

Site types and sizing: Most RV parks near Coppell accommodate various rig sizes but have different pad materials. At Shady Creek RV Park, one RVer observed, "The pads are gravel and almost level. A few guests have been here a while, did see several arrivals and departures."

Internet reliability: Connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds. A long-term guest at Lake Life RV Resort appreciated that the smaller park environment contributed to better service: "Great spot conveniently located walking distance is from Eagle Mountian Lake. It only has seven spots so it's very quiet and well kept."

Pet-specific considerations: Dog owners should verify pet policies and available facilities. One camper at Shady Creek RV Park cautioned, "Pet friendly, keep an eye on your pooch as one morning a large dog broke his/her leash one morning and attacked a lady's dog and knocked her down."
