      Better send carrier pigeon....

Tried calling several times(during business hours) and wrote several times, never got back to me. Finally just drove there(through the rain), calling again about 5 minutes away. They finally answered only to be told they were full. Asked about other days and they said they weren't sure but to call the morning of. I said you know, I've called and wrote and left several messages- would've been nice to get a call back, as now I'm basically here. She said sorry and laughed. Seriously?! No online booking at all and incompetent management- who would call the morning of to see if you drive X amount of miles to stay? And I'm the idiot that drove there after not hearing back, ugh.

      Close to Nature

I wish I could rate this campground higher because it was so peaceful with quite a bit of bushy vegetation to provide a small measure of privacy between sites. This is as close to nature as one can get in a campground!  There was poison ivy on the trees next to us and in the mowed ground around the campsite.  There were so many butterflies, flies, and other flying insects on the sunny side of our RV that it made entering and exiting through the sliding door very difficult. And, the ANTS! After one night in our site, the ants had formed an active trail to the top of our RV. Consequently, we had ants inside the RV!

The roads inside the campground need to be repaved.

The camp host and the park ranger were both very friendly and informative.

      Laid back

If you like a laid back approach to camping, this place is it.  They advertise "farm fresh eggs" at the bait shop, and though we didn't partake, we know they were serious because of the chickens that were roaming the grounds.  One of them inspected the storage bay of my travel trailer while I was setting up!  We arrived about 4 p.m., and there was no one around to check in with, I think because of a family emergency of some sort.  So I just picked one of the open RV lots and backed in.  When I did check in later with Amy, she said "no problem" with the lot I picked.  Like I say, "laid back"!

      Functional with good views

Pros: Great views of the water and wildflowers in the meadows. Reasonable price. Everything works and the shaded picnic tables are a plus. 5G plus signal on ATT for anything you might need online. Downsides: It looks like there could be a lot of water pooled on and behind our site with a heavy rain. The pad has definitely broken up over time and isn't level. The fire pit is also sitting at an angle. We noticed two groups of campers with 4-6 extra cars having gatherings last night, so that might have been distracting if we were right next to them.

      Needs some work

Generally I’ll stay at a KOA for a night when traveling through. They are like McDonald’s, nothing special but you know what to expect. This one was below par even for a KOA. We arrived just at 5:00 pm but the office was already closed. Didn’t see any staff before we left in the morning. Out checking information was available on the bulletin board. A sign said there were no more available sites, but there were clearly over 40 empty spaces. Many of the sites need new picnic tables, and the trees are full of dead branches. However the grass was mowed. Sites are very close together. Closer than most. There is a grassy dog park. There is also the a playground- a swing set! Also a pool which appears functional. Bathroom and showers were adequate. !

There is an RV repair facility next door.

      Good spot for camping

Been there last year during out trip to Texas( mainly hiking in Britton park and a few other local trail spots and camped at Dodge City RV park)

Pros: good clean spots for camping, everything you might need is pretty close
Didn't try RV spots, but those looked really nice too.

      Cons: Didn't find any.

If you gonna be visiting TX during June-July for trailing and camping - my advice is: make sure to get a pair of comfy shoes(my go-to are Brooks men's running shoes like those https://rununited.com/mens-footwear/) - trails are pretty rough and it's extremely hot and humid near bodies of water... Gotta dry your shoes every few hours

    Guide to Colleyville

Camping near Colleyville, Texas, offers a great escape into nature without straying too far from the city. With a variety of campgrounds to choose from, you can find the perfect spot for your next outdoor adventure.

    What to do

    • Hiking and Nature Trails: Many campgrounds have trails for hiking. For instance, at Cedar Hill State Park Campground, one visitor mentioned, "A very big old park...has a fish pond, wonderful beach and day sites." This park is perfect for those who enjoy exploring nature.
    • Fishing: If you love fishing, Dinosaur Valley State Park is a great choice. A reviewer noted, "The campsites are nestled in the foliage...you can totally get the crustaceous era feel going."
    • Water Activities: At Ray Roberts Lake State Park - Isle du Bois, you can enjoy swimming and boating. One camper shared, "The campground is nice and well maintained...there's a nice paved 2.25-mile trail through the CG and the surrounding area."

    What campers like

    • Clean Facilities: Campers appreciate well-kept restrooms and showers. A visitor at Hickory Creek - Lewisville Lake said, "Restroom facilities are clean. My one complaint is there's a playground on their map but no actual playground that we could find."
    • Friendly Staff: Many campers mention the helpfulness of the staff. At Cleburne State Park Campground, one reviewer noted, "The staff was very friendly and helpful."
    • Spacious Sites: Campers enjoy having room to spread out. A review for Isle du Bois - Ray Roberts Lake State Park mentioned, "The sites are spaced reasonably far apart, but there is not much physical separation between them."

    What you should know

    • Cell Service: Be prepared for spotty cell service in some areas. A camper at Hidden Cove Park & Marina mentioned, "It's a good campground. However, for T-Mobile, service is not good enough for work or streaming."
    • Reservations Recommended: Many campgrounds can get busy, especially on weekends. A visitor at Loyd Park advised, "Make reservations in advance."
    • Limited Amenities: Some campgrounds may lack certain amenities. A reviewer at North Texas Jellystone noted, "Not sure what we were expecting, but it was not half bad...lots of construction noise."

    Tips for camping with families

    • Plan Activities: Choose campgrounds with plenty of activities for kids. At Vineyards Campground & Cabins, a camper said, "There are sooo many fun activities...the staff is super friendly and very helpful."
    • Safety First: Keep an eye on kids near roads. A visitor at North Texas Jellystone mentioned, "The playground is adjacent to the main road in the campground and vehicles do not stop at stop signs."
    • Pack Snacks: Having snacks on hand can keep everyone happy. A camper at Cedar Hill State Park Campground noted, "The park is pretty big...it was still really hot during the time of year we went, but other than that it was nice."

    Tips from RVers

    • Check Site Sizes: Make sure your RV fits the site. A reviewer at Ray Roberts Lake State Park - Johnson Branch mentioned, "The site was clean, waterfront and separated from the next site by brush and tall grass."
    • Bring Extra Cords: Some sites may have limited hookups. A camper at Hickory Creek - Lewisville Lake said, "Water pressure was 50 psi, sewer hookup was close, but electrical box was in the front and most modern RV's electrical connection in the back."
    • Plan for Dump Stations: Be aware of where dump stations are located. A visitor at Cleburne State Park Campground noted, "The dump station can get a little busy around checkout time."

Camping around Colleyville, Texas, has something for everyone, whether you're looking for a family-friendly spot or a peaceful getaway.
