    Lake Tawakoni State Park Campground

    Nice state park

We don't stay at too many TX State Parks because of the added day use fee. We decided on this park due to its proximity to family in this area. The site was level and on a concrete pad with a parking spot right next to it. We did have a neighbor, so the space between us was fair. Our cell signal with Verizon was poor, so it made work difficult. Our site had W/E and there is a dump station. We did have a picnic table and fire ring. There are some sites that back up to a part of the lake. Noise level was pretty low. Unfortunately, we only spent 1 full day here, so we didn't really get to enjoy any of the hiking trails or do any fishing. We will definitely have to stay again in the future.

    Patriot RV Park

    Great Location and Price

This place is close to anywhere you need to go. The price is the best in the area and they give free high speed internet. They have a nice laundry room and mailboxes on site. They offer short or long term living. Check them out!

    We RV Champions

    Cool name, cool stay!

The name drew us in, the convenience, friendly staff, large spaces and the usual amenities will bring us back.

A very convenient location for a base if you are looking to go to Canton Trade Days, Edom's many art festivals, Moore's Store in Ben Wheeler to see a show, shopping in Tyler or any of your East Texas adventures.

Although near the highway and the Tyler Pounds Field Regional Airport, this rv park is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. An older park, well maintained with mature trees lining the property. A good portion of long term stay residents with smiles and waves and neat spaces.

    Governor Jim Hogg RV Park

    RV camping

The camping area is mostly occupied by long term RV campers. Many of the campers are employed in the nearby areas. Grounds offer water/electric/sewer hookups, there are also toilets available but no showers. The RV grounds are part of the city park which offers a splash pad (seasonal), large playground, pavilion, picnic areas, arboretum, and a short hiking trail (approximately one third of a mile). The RV sites are backed up by the sheriff's office/county jail the courthouse is down the road, and there is a police department across the street. This isn't to suggest that the area is dangerous, its a small town and everything is pretty much right there. Shopping and restaurants are within walking distance.

Lake Fork, a popular fishing lake is within a ten minute drive. Lake Quitman is less than ten minutes, generally this is where water sport activities occur. Pets are welcome.

    Shady Lake RV Park

    Overnight Stop

This park is close to highway and great for overnight stay. The park has pull through full site hookups. The park has a pond that is the center of the entire campground. The park has two dog parks available as well for those traveling with pets.

    Two things I loved:

    1. Close to highway quick stay
    2. The pond nice view with ducklings

One thing I didn’t love: Really close to others for extended stays.

    The Waters

    Small monthly RV park

This used to be under another name, but is under new management. The park is now under construction, with a laundry building coming soon. 30 spots.

    • Wifi is okay. Cel phone reception can be problematic without booster.

    • This park is mostly fifth wheels and travel trailers. While our almost 40’ Class A fit on the pad, if we had anything larger than our Jeep Wrangler as a tow would not have fit in our spot. Really meant for 30’ if you have a pickup truck to tow.

    • Nice catch and release pond.

Mineola Civic Center and RV Park

    Excellent

Over 150 concrete sites all level from what I could see. Well set up for Class A Motorhome sewer, water and 50 and 30 amp connections. Walking distance of big grocery store. 15 miles from Lake Fork. They even bring you a 55 gallon garbage container.

Wildlife viewing: Lake areas attract birds and small animals. At Thousand Trails Lake Tawakoni, visitors can observe wildlife across multiple habitats. "We have a view of the water and wildlife across the road with no sites to impede our view," notes Mary H.

Tips from RVers

Technical training: The Texan RV Park in Athens hosts the National RV Training Academy. "If you're full timing, like me, you should, at a minimum take the NRVTA's basic class. I have taken all of their technical classes," recommends Donald B., highlighting courses in AC systems, refrigerators, water heaters, solar systems, and generator maintenance.

Storage options: Some campgrounds offer overflow parking areas. At Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park, "There's ample overflow parking and trailer storage space so you don't have to crowd your campsite," which proves convenient for those with additional vehicles or equipment.

Cell service variability: Reception strength differs between carriers at certain campgrounds. "We switch from Verizon to ATT, and at times signals were weak. Other times just fine. Hit or miss depending on utilization I suppose," reports Heather H. after staying at Lake Athens Marina and RV Park.
