Tucked away on Sequatchie Mountain, this little campground invites you to experience some of East Tennessee's best parks for climbing and hiking. Cliffs and waterfalls are minutes away at near by Foster Falls, Denny Cove and Castle Rock.
Walk our 22 acres and even take a short hike out to our bluff (excellent sunset spot). Make sure to say "Hi" to our chickens and our barn cat, Strawberry, on the way. Add in the view of the stars and that makes this the perfect basecamp after a long day out.
The campground offers dispersed sites with fire pits and picnic tables, a communal barn with a microwave, fridge, and games. Clean portable toilets and a dishwashing station. We do not have showers available for campers at the moment (for those needing more formal accommodations, we have two homes available for rent on the property, one of which can be rented by the room).

We followed our RV GPS right to the campground (CG) that is located right off I-24. Check in was quick and easy. We were then escorted to one of their“long” pull through sites with FHUs, site 27. What we first noticed was the large cement patio with table, chairs, bench, stand up barbecue, and fire pit. The utilities are located smartly in the middle of the pad to include an extra sewer connection near the pad’s front. Water pressure was okay at around 45 psi. They have cable but we did not use it. Their Wifi was about average for a CG this size. We got 3 bars on Verizon and used our MiFi on this overnighter. Satellite could be iffy due to the amount of mature trees. We did see Starlink antennas at some of the sites. The sites are decently spaced and site 27 was the easiest pull through we’ve ever had as its angled straight in from the street, no turns or maneuvering to center the rig. They have glamping cabins, teepees, and a covered wagon with nice patio decor. There’s also a swimming pool, pickleball court, catch& release pond plus other amenities. There’s also laundry and propane. The staff was very nice and helpful. We were impressed with this CG with the only caveat that there’s quite a bit of highway noise from the interstate. However, the noise did not overweigh our satisfaction and we will definitely mark this CG for another overnighter or longer stay in the future.

We camped here over the weekend. Our campsite was perfect. Very private and enough space for 2 tents. Not all campsites are made for tents, some have just a concrete driveway. We had the usual amenities, like a picnic table with a bench, fire pit, and a lantern pole. The bathhouse was clean and well stocked. Rock Island offers a lot hiking trails and stunning waterfalls. There is a little coffee/icecream shop just outside the park, which was awesome. We would camp here anytime again.

LegendWe have stopped here several times in the past when it was a KOA. The new owners have fixed it up. The roads are still gravel but in better shape, the pads are nicer, and there is more room between sites. 30/50 amp electric, water & sewer. Lots of trees, there is a big dog park. The pool was closed when we were there. Bathrooms and showers were nice, but dated. Tent sites, cabins. Lots of road noise!

LegendScenic Mountain View! Arrived and greeted by staff at the State Park guard gate, then checked into campground at separate office. Map and instructions given. Nice gravel back-in-site, water and 50amp hook ups. Picnic table and fire-ring at each site. Lots of trees. Sites spaced but not private, not at 33. Lots of traffic , since it is at the entrance and lots of kids riding bikes behind our site as well as tents directly in front of us. Will venture out and explore after the rain, and update as I get info. We Have Starlink, still with very poor reception((under 50) and little to no connectivity with T-Mobile. Would not reserve here for 2 weeks again at this site, for lack of privacy and for partial hook ups.

While camping right on a ledge would be neat, Hobbs is a great stopover. Keeps you dry if it’s pouring, but luckily the weather cleared for us for the night. We didn’t utilize the spring that is allegedly there. There are plenty of large and small sites, and it is not as trafficked as some of the other campgrounds in the park.

Stayed with our van in the primitive sites here and had a great time! Very affordable and not many other campers (but if the group camp sites are booked I’d go elsewhere, they’re very close). The bathroom is super far away, but there was a portable potty for a few days until they inexplicably took it away. If you have a camping bathroom setup and are comfy going to get water if needed, it’s a great value and gives you want more privacy.
Also the showers here are the best I’ve ever experienced at a campground. They have signs saying you can shower for $5 even if you don’t camp here.

We enjoyed spending several days exploring Chattanooga. The camp staffers are friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean and the park is well kept. The sites are tight. You're right on top of each other. Fine for a couple of days.
TravelerDefinitely remember to look at the Park's website for the best way into the park. Our RV specific GPS was waaaay off! All the camper pads have recently been redone, so it's pretty easy to find a flat site. We enjoyed the Japanese tea garden, and look forward to coming back for more hiking and site seeing. 1 washer/dryer per bath house-- not new but got the job done. ATT and Verizon signals weren't super strong but good enough to stream some TV and check email, but we used a high gain antenna.

RangerPros: The staff are all incredibly friendly. We loved interacting with them (especially Eric!) during our stay. The laundry and bathrooms are very clean and spacious. The staff will come around and collect your trash for you (which isn’t necessary but a nice plus!) The location is directly off the highway and close to stores if you need a late night run for anything. The dog park was cute and offered a lot of extras. The heated pool was nicely taken care of and would be fantastic for the summer season. The camp store had lots of necessities and cute decor plus a dvd rental library and a pizza place onsite!
Cons: There was a massive cell phone tower within walking distance from our RV. Literally on the property of the RV park behind their utility shed and next to the playground. The highway traffic is quite loud. The campsites are very close together! The playground and fun type amenities in the back of the park weren’t kept up very well it seemed. A lot of the stuff was missing or broken.

LegendOver Labor Day weekend, we had the pleasure of staying at Fireside Camp+ Lodge, which served as our ideal base camp for exploring the countless waterfalls and trails in the area. This unique campground caters primarily to rock climbers, thanks to its prime location just across the road from Foster Falls, a renowned climbing destination. However, it's equally appealing for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The campsites are set up in a circle around the edge of a spacious field along the tree line. While they are relatively basic, they offer everything you need for a comfortable stay. We particularly enjoyed the open field, which allowed us to stargaze at night under the clear skies. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and plenty of space to accommodate one or two tents.
One standout feature is the creative use of an old barn, which has been transformed into a hangout space. Inside, you'll find comfortable couches, hang boards for climbing enthusiasts, a vintage fridge, and even a Pac-Man game for some retro fun. During our visit, they were in the process of building a new bathroom facility. At the time, they had a port-a-potty in place, which was surprisingly well-maintained and exceeded our expectations. We hope that in the future, they expand their bathroom facility options to enhance the overall camping experience.
Throughout our three-night stay, we found fellow campers to be considerate and friendly neighbors. Many of them were rock climbers here to conquer the area's renowned routes, and we had enjoyable conversations about their adventures. On both our first and last nights, we practically had the place to ourselves. It appeared that most visitors came from afar and couldn't extend their stay. The campground is well-maintained and has a relaxed, low-key atmosphere that we truly appreciated. The camp hosts were incredibly responsive and accommodating when we were planning our trip, making the booking process seamless. We would unquestionably choose to stay here again on our next visit to the area.
Fireside Camp+ Lodge offers a fantastic base camp for explorers, whether you're a rock climber or a hiker. With its unique barn hangout space, open field for stargazing, and proximity to Foster Falls, it provides a memorable and enjoyable camping experience. We look forward to returning on our future adventures in the area.

It seemed way more cool here than down in Huntsville and even felt less humid which was wonderful. The bathrooms and showers were clean as well as the campground overall. Great place to stay!
ScoutThe staff was wonderful, and it was quiet. The tent site we stayed in was fairly level, with a nice shade and plentiful grass. The fire ring was a nice size with nice cooking grate. We were directly across from the pool, and it was never loud. The firewood was $5 cash per bundle delivered to your site until 10 pm. Ice was $2.50/bag. Bathhouse and laundry were clean and functional. The tour of the caverns was well worth the money spent and in much more of a natural state in comparison to Ruby Falls. We will definitely be back!
GuideWe had such a great time at MSSP. We stayed in two sites (since we decided we wanted to stay longer when we got there): 48 & 61, which were both bluff sites. 48 is directly across from the bathhouse. My husband and I both agreed that the bathrooms could’ve been cleaner. I only looked in the showers since we have one in our camper and they were yucky and I’m glad we didn’t have to use them. Site 61 was our favorite of the two since it’s the last one on the bluff before the road goes into the primitive area. All the sites seem to be spacious which we liked. The office staff were all VERY kind and VERY helpful. The camp store itself is small but had pretty much anything you might’ve forgotten. The bike trails are numerous and while we don’t mountain bike we did ride our cruiser bikes down past the rental cabins and on past the gate onto a nice wide gravel trail. It was beautiful and we saw lots of wildflowers and deer. I highly recommend this park. It was lovely.
