Another Amazing Weekend

Just got back from another long weekend camping at Huntington Beach State Park in Murrel’s Inlet, SC. This is one of our favorite campgrounds. We were in Site 40 this weekend. 30 amp electric and water, no sewer. Sites are level, clean, spaced out and a short walk to the beach. Close to Myrtle Beach attractions if you interested, but quiet and relaxing. Many nature trails and tons of beach for walking.

A great low-country experience

Fantastic hiking, well maintained (during normal services), and the primitive campsites are the best "get-away" opportunity.

Nature is abundant, both flaura and fauna. So bug spray is recommended to the unfortunate of us that are preyed upon by mosquitoes and the like. Also my dogs love it and it's a great energy burner for them.

Old castle on site

Great place to stay. Lots to do just at the park or right across the street at Brookgreen gardens. Love staying here when we want to camp close to home but need a peaceful place to enjoy. You can walk down the beach and fish off the jetties gives you a great place to watch the sunset over the ocean.

OMG

The Best yet. We have been from the East Coast to the West Coast, and have to say none can compare. Love it

Our most favorite beach camping

This park is the best. Great campground, easy beach access, wonderful area, great for photography, wonderful staff. We camp here as often as possible. Fills fast, so make reservations well in advance. And a castle!

Cheap, primitive, rustic!

We camped at Halfway Creek in the Francis Marion National Forest for the eclipse.  It's a free campground, but there are no water and no toilets.  You can park in a lot just outside the camping area--some people sleep in their cars there.  This site does not take reservations, so it's first come-first served.

The actual camping area is wide open and grassy, but if you prefer more privacy, you can hike in a bit and pick a spot.  We stayed in the open area because we were a big group and wanted the best view of the eclipse!

Something fun to do is to visit (gotta drive there) the Halfway Creek Church, constructed in 1941.  You can also do a hike on one of the trails here.

Bring lots of water and bug spray and some trash bags to pack your trash/T.P. out!

CAROLINA PINES RESORT RV PARK

Eeasy to get to…lots of things to do…great tiny houses to stay in…wonderful dog park with a dog wash…great pools…great water park and golf…OUTSIDE eating excellent….bathrooms well maintained….surroundings and sites well thought out… helpful people   like Tommy…worth the price

Plenty of wildlife photo ops here

This park is huge. We are in the northern camping area Lot 160. Platform is cement so the camper is Level. Our site has a built-in black and grey water private dump station.

The park has nature trails to walk and bike. There is a causeway with a lot of marsh birds and several crocodiles. We went there after tropical storm and a lot of crocs were dry active.

Our site was a 1 minute walk to the shore. The beach was clean but barely occupied due to social distancing. It was part of a 60 mile stretch of beach.

The facilities, were pretty clean and hardly used when I was there.

There was so much to do in the area, including kayaking, that I’ll have to come back for more.

When we left very early (4:30 am) the park entrance was padlocked. Luckily a ranger came out pretty quickly to help with the padlock.

nicest washroom facilities

Huntington Beach State Park South Carolina. Stayed a week. Great campground. Trails, easy access to the most amazing beach. The nicest washroom facilities and laundry. January was a little early for us, temperature wise. We would probably return in Feb or March but maybe it is too busy then?
