Very little separation

We always prefer parks to private RV parks. That being said, camp sites are very close together. I could hear the neighbors conversation, and they weren’t being all that loud. Definitely a pretty park though

A wondering place to camp.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Promised Land.  Clean, big, a tons of options, the bathrooms are clean and overall a wonder experience.

Cell phone signal isn't all that great, and I wish there was more space in between the campsites, but nonetheless always a wonderful experience.

Small but beautiful

This was our first visit to this state park and it didn’t disappoint. We were in an electric site #112 and friends were in a full hookup site by the bath house. Our site was well shaded for most of the day. It backed up to another site that was kinda close. There wasn’t a view of the lake but it was a short walk to the beach area for swimming. Sump station was across the road in a different loop. The rod into the campground was full of pot holes. Take a hike around Conservation Island. It’s very flat and an easy walk/hike. Dog friendly.

Quiet, private and beautiful

I can’t believe how quiet it is here. Our site is wooded and very private. We went to a bald eagle talk this morning which was very informative and enjoyable. The museum was very clean, hands on and educational and we could walk there from our site. There’s a small unguarded beach that allows swimming which was very nice.

Late Night Walk In

We had a really hard time finding anywhere to camp bc most places are closed for the season. We were very pleased that this beautiful lake side state park is open year round and could be reserved online after hours!

Beautiful Park, tight campsites

Very hard to get a good site in this park. But if you get the right one, you can launch your kayaks right from the site. The sites are very crowded together, some you can’t tell where one begins and the next one ends. But the park is beautiful. Avoid going on the weekends if you can help it. SO many weekenders from New York and New Jersey being so loud, littering, and highly disrespectful to others and the land. Quite a shame. If you’re reading this and offended, be the change!!

Pine trees, lake, and clean facilities

This campground is one of the best we’ve ever visited as a family. We stayed there for four nights. Pickerel Point campground is on a peninsula. So you are close to the water wherever you are on the campground. The bathrooms and showers were pristine. It is hard to believe, but the showers were heated from the ground. I guess they ran the hot water pipes under the shower floors. Our site was spacious and private. We had a wonderful view of the lake. Because the weather was a little cold, we were not able to enjoy the small beach, but we can’t wait to do that in summer.

This was my second visit in the cold months. Sites have electric but no water. Spigot close by. Heated cozy bathhouse with clean showers. The park is large with many hiking trails and ice fishing (see picture). The only negative is that I had almost no cell reception with Verizon.

Beautiful and serene state park

TLDR: I would go back to this park in a heartbeat!

So I just got him from Promised Land State Park and it couldn’t have been a more relaxing weekend. We stayed at Pickerel Point in one of the loops.

Pros: Beautiful scenery, nice bath houses, big sites, easy access to the lake and pickerel point beach. Small town about 5-10 mins away where you can get the very basics, and another larger town with a grocery store, liquor store, and hardware store about 20 minutes away

Cons: dump station is a little tricky to get into or out of with a longer rig, sites can be pretty far out of level so bring lots of leveling blocks. It took 30 lego levelers for us to get level.

Beautiful facilities, rocky sites

Pros: -beautiful new bathrooms -private lakeside walk-in sites -beavers! Far away but exciting nonetheless -the Conservation Walk on the island is short, easy, and beautiful. Well-marked.

Cons: -chunky bluestone gravel on the sites, so bring a sleeping pad! -has a beach but it's not much to look at -sites have nice sizable fire pits, but they are very tall. It's difficult to cook over them, and sitting around the campfire in the evening is a much less visually appealing experience than I'd like

We stayed in site 157. Accessible via a path from the designated parking space to the site about 2 minute walk. Lakeside, but visibility not great due to vegetation. All sites have little trails down to the water.

Site 174 by the road and less private, but prettily overhung by evergreens.

The cabins look very nice inside.

Great state park

Bring your bikes and kayaks. Camped here numerous times. Some sites full hook up, and some more private than others. Nice bike loop around lake, many hiking trails, beach to swim and watch sunset. Does get crowded because it is popular. Lower lake campground is less crowded but sites close together and not as nice a view.

My new favorite place

Loved camping on Pickerel Point. Kids had a great time! Bathrooms could be cleaned more often but relatively clean. The museum and crafts were closed due to Covid so that was a bummer but we found other things to do. Love that the road is paved, it makes it easy for the kids to ride bikes, skate etc... We will definitely be back

Beautifully taken care of State Park!

This is a beautifully taken care of State Park. Great sites, clean bathhouses, friendly camp hosts, rangers helpful and friendly, special treat of bear passing on nearby road, peaceful and well kept up trails.Dog friendly too. We enjoyed kayaking, hiking, biking and just enjoying the peace around the park. Plenty of areas to kayak. Two beaches and nice picnic areas. Walking and biking trails too. Rental for canoes, row boats and kayaks. Just be aware weekend rentals for kayaks are limited. Campsites and clean facilities.ignage was everywhere and water for filling up and two dumping stations near campground. It was our first state park and we came home and booked another trip in 2 weeks we had such a great time. After doing regular campgrounds the atmosphere of the state park is our#1 favorite now!

Gorgeous campsites along the water

I spent the night in the Promised Land State Park at Pickerel Point and it was so pretty and quiet. There was a bathroom with flush toilets nearby and the campsites were well spaced apart. Mine overlooked the water and had a gorgeous sunset. There was a beach nearby that was an excellent place to gaze at the stars. Loved it!

Beautiful state park with plenty to do!

We stayed in the Pickerel Point of the park. We had full hookups (20/30/50 amp, water & sewer). There's no cable but we were able to pickup about 6 channels with our digital antenna. This place is absolutely stunning. The lake is crystal clear and the beach is spotless. You absolutely have to bring a kayak/inflatable boat, but if you don't own one, don't worry, you can rent one. All of the sites were spacious. The only complaint I had (which really isn't a real complaint) was that the grass needed cutting as it was pretty long and uncomfortable to walk through. Pickerel point is the most action packed part of the park. LOTS of kids and people enjoying themselves. If you're looking for a more secluded experience, the park has sections for that as well. We'll definitely return!

Broken Promises

Dont bother trying to camp here if you're not 55+ with plain hair, in a heterosexual relationship and no dogs. My friend and I were SOOOO disrespected when in the camp check in. We asked questions so that we were not out of regulation (in regards to where our dogs could swim) and were met with no helpful information and responses such as "we dont recommend it" with no explanation and plenty of attitude. We can confirm that this disrespect was based solely on our appearance because the older woman behind us got tons of information and tried to assist us in our journey. Peace out PA and all PA State Parks for life, if this is how you treat other humans.
