This camp is under new management and is now called Sunrise. It’s a GREAT spot for going to Hot Springs and Wind Cave National Park.

There’s a great dog park on this campground with a doggie clean up station. Plenty of sites and shade. We stayed just one night but would be back for sure.

This isn’t a very busy campground. It’s far south of Badlands NP and most people stay North in Wall or out near Rapid City.

We’re not sure about boondocking in the regular parking lot since the casino has their own campground here. There’s not much shade but it’s right on the water which delivers nice views.

All sites are electric only but there is a dump station where you can dump and fill.

This campground is just north of rapid city, and very close to Sturgis directly off highway 79.

If you’re here during the motorcycle ralley then this campground will be packed with that demographic and traffic to get into here will be tricky. Trust me we’ve done the homework.

Nothing wrong with this stay, although I wouldn’t call this a “campground.” It’s a small and tight rental cabin property that has a few slots for RV hook up.

It’s tight but as long as your just looking for a place to drop or unhitch this one is fine.

There is some shade with trees and each spot has a picnic table. It’s basic but it will do!

They are definitely more focused on the cabin rentals here. They looked really nice too, newly built and rustic.

This RV park is simply just a place to park. Many of the spaces do not have any tree coverage although most sites do have full hook ups. You are right on top of your neighbor if you don’t mind that there are picnic tables at each site too. But maybe only 20 sites available. This RV park is part of the motel. 

A stones throw away from the colter bay visitor center with access to a rocky beach with the best views on lake Jackson. We stayed in the campground not the RV park and it was just fine. We dumped and filled on the way in and enjoyed our electric only site. Temps drop pretty low in the evening and you don’t even need to the AC. All sites are pull throughs and uniquely set up off the side of the road. Weird to look at but SO convenient and gives you so much space for your actual camp. Our site was massive and level. Other campers were jealous of the site we got and were asking us when we were leaving lol. I got lucky and snagged this reservation after someone canceled. Otherwise it’s booked up months in advance.

This is a great spot if you’re looking to stay in the park. It’s the only in-park campground. Convenient and just past the Medora entrance station.

There are no services however and this is almost borderline boondocking here. But it’s right off the river and pets are allowed. Bison walk through the campground often.

Our stay was fine. No serious complaints but I will point out some things that don’t seem to align with the “resort” ambiance you pay for here.

First I was not expected to be nickeled and dimed. Bread in the campstore was $6+ dollars - if it were good bread maybe. But it was Wonderbread.

The breakfast provided is an amazing concept but the delivery is sub par. The food was gross. They don’t have any real syrup for the “all you can eat pancakes” for $3.50 and they basically give you Karo syrup. Biscuits were hard and the small yogurt cup was $6+.

After all that I look at my bill and see a pet fee per night on top of the resort fee per night. I get this is a tourist trap area, but come on y’all, let’s keep things classy.

The young foreign staff working at the restaurants and eateries are confused, annoyed, and rude.

The WiFi is awful. Just awful. You will never connect to it. We didn’t once and I have a king antenna repeater installed in our rig. And I get it if you’re saying to yourself right now, “it’s camping, lady! Disconnect and enjoy nature” but the problem is we’re full time, I work remotely, and I depend on WiFi for my job and income. Without reliable internet I cannot stay at a campsite. This works sometimes if there’s good cell signal but here at this KOA there’s NOTHING. If there’s no cell signal on the campground then you MUST put effort into making your WiFi better across the whole campground. I do not have an option to stand in the gift shop or campstore to take video calls with my CEO. That’s not going to work.

And lastly the shower curtains in the bathhouses were full of mold. Shower curtains are like one dollar. Change them out!

My biggest pet peeve is that they don’t have recycling. Especially with the campstore being full of cases with single use plastic drinks. They don’t recycle! How is this even possible in 2022?

This has to be one of the best spots in America. The view and accessibility is incredible.

Plan well when driving back here if windy or rainy. Lots of ruts where you can see folk of yesteryears getting stuck.

Dog friendly. Not sure on generators though. We didn’t hear anyone else running theirs but other friends said they heard generators all night just a few nights earlier. So we skipped ours out of courtesy but we paid for it with the fridge rising to temp and not being able to charge our medical equipment. It was just so quiet we didn’t want to be the ones to disrupt that peace. Even though ours it a quiet version.

All in all it’s beautifully temped and breezy at night, but gets hot during the day. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you pull off the road and go through the teal-ish green gates. Making a left is not as fruitful - go right once approaching the cliff road and you’ll find plenty of spaces!

Tried to stay inside TRNP next door but learned quickly there weren’t any hookups. This place had some harsh reviews on Campendium app however we found it delightful. The biggest woe here is that the sites are extremely tight. Our site was a pull in from one road, and the neighbors sites was a pull in from the parallel road, leaving us to share space - literally two picnic tables next to one another. Other than that though, gorgeous scenery well maintained sidewalks that you can hike or bike right into town. A public dog park at the end of the street. And our section was brand new. The electric poles were new. The sewer hookup at our site seemed a bit big but we have an adapter. Overall would highly recommend if in Medora!

Our quick stay was fine as we were passing through. This campground definitely caters to seasonal stays although was a convenient location off the highway.

Restrooms were nice and they had a compost area too.

RV Site with Sewer was $45/day (had all three water, electricity, sewage) thought this was a little pricey

Loved our site as it was a pull through but more of a half-moon style off the side of the road. Loved the privacy and the space. Saw a few of their “puppy sites” that included a private gated area for dog owners. It poured all weekend but we still enjoyed the stay. They accepted two packages for me while here and were waiting for me in their theater, which really looked like a storage building.

They are very big on hospitality here as they drive you to your site and will deliver anything you want from the store. My only suggestion is to include a list of things you can buy at check in.

Got us in last minute when our other plans fell through. Site was only $35 for a back in water/electric. Grateful for it but wouldn’t have booked this otherwise. Site was unlevel and ran into a hill on the back end. Not much space on ether side of us. Corner lot and the rec center and basketball court was directly behind. Kids cutting through the campsite all the time.

We called several times before anyone answered and the store was clearly understaffed. Although the staff was kind and doing their best. Picnic table is on its last legs and fire ring looked like it was run over. Overall it was a little shabby but definitely not bad. Good for a place to sleep but I wouldn’t book a week here. Not many restaurant options either and also no signs for this one on the highway.

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

Stayed here one night ($60 per night). Sites are HUGE and each one has full hook up. They have the trendy teepee rentals and clamping tents.

They also have stationary RVs on site that you can stay in, those are about $120 per night.

Good location and easy to get to from the PA turnpike NE extension 476. Also a good location to get to all the state parks nearby like Beltzville and Lehigh Gorge. The creek actually runs right from Beltzville dam.

They have a huge area and accommodations to do events and weddings, although we didn’t see anything like that on our stay.

Minus one star because you can’t book online!

The New Tripoli KOA was the first one we ever camped in and frequently revisit.

Sites are extremely well maintained and if you reserve early enough you can snag a spot close by to the River that flows right thorough the property. There are also plenty of RV service places nearby if you need to stop in for parts or another service for your rig. Campground is on the smaller side for the KOA family but this is one of their “Journey” locations so the amenities are more than expected! Highly recommend!

Close to Jim Thorpe and tons of recreational activities. If you’re driving through the area, there’s a Cabela’s nearby that allows boondocking. Also very close to a few Appalachian trail heads.

There’s a cute river that flows through the campground and this one has a doggy park. Love this one!!

Loved the little farm stand outside of the property on the main road. But you’re not allowed to bring yourself own firewood, even if it’s local, which I think is tacky when your charging a small fortune for a tiny bundle.

Some sites are very grassy and others are very sandy. These sites are right on top of each other. They really put as many as they could in here. If there’s a tree or something in between you and your neighbors you’re lucky! Only four total pull through sites and they are not even full hook up.

This is a cash only establishment! Everywhere! You literally have to mail them a check to hold your reservation and also they do nothing online. You can’t see availability or book on their archaic website. And calling to ask about availability and cost seems to irritate the folks answering the phone so it’s very confusing. They aren’t all that friendly. But, keep to yourself, bring cash and mind your business. You’ve stayed in worse places trust me!

Our tent site was on a slope, and completely flooded the fire ring when it rained. The fire ring was also missing the grilling grate so we couldn’t cook on it. Most of the showers in the bath houses were broken and you have to pay for them so bring your quarters! All the drink machines were busted and the mosquitos were absolutely unbearable. I contacted the company office and they basically said too bad, so sad. The sites are right on top of one another with hardly any space between. Won’t be back! The fire department drives around at 7am selling hoagies through a mega phone. Still unsure how I feel about that, but that’s up to you to decide! Cape May is just so busy so they really don’t care about your quality of stay. But we will definitely be trying somewhere else next time.
