    Friendly, convenient and great amenities

What’s not to love. Paved roads, level sites, great pool/hot tub / splash pad, mini golf, and my favorite a restaurant and bar onsite. I love campgrounds with restaurants. They’re always unique and personal and this one sure is. Love their limo shuttle service, grounds. This is exactly the kind of independent campground I’m always on the look out for and $50 for a full hook up to boot. Love it.

Great one night spot while traveling through.

Great owners! A few miles from the interstate. Not your typical RV park, no frills just a place to park with full hookups. Nice little pond, if you like to fish.

Very nice, quiet rv park. Close to the highway and downtown OKC. Highway noise is buffered by hotels so its not really that bad. Full hookups, free wifi and codes to bathrooms for more security. Lots are not super close, and it feels more private. Our pad was not super level but not a deal breaker. The only negative was the huge poison ivy tree right behind us. Luckily we didn't have our kids. We let the owner know on the way out and they were unaware and said they were spray it down right away.

    Easy Going No Frills

Very close to the highway but in nature on a pond in a lush green area.

Owners were very communicative, coinscientious, and helpful.

It appears there may be a few long term renters on the property.

This was good for a one-2 night stay.

Don’t recommend if you need amenities

I would not recommend this park. Bathrooms are filthy- trash on the floor, clogged toilet for days, showers have pink mold. We asked if we could use their cleaning supplies and never got a response however the next day someone was “cleaning. I use “” because the trash in the women’s showers, mold, soap scum, hair dye, and general dirt was still there. Toilets and sinks weren’t cleaned properly. We had to use their facilities and paid for a week stay (they offer no refunds) so we were stuck unfortunately. The google reviews are very untrue. Not sure who wrote them but that’s what we went off of. If you have a big rig and don’t need amenities and don’t care about overflowing dumpsters then it’ll be a fine stay. Lot of long term trailers. The kids were nice though and my boys enjoyed playing on the playground with them. We had the only space with a giant puddle upon arriving that never did dry up and then it rained 😅

    Quaint little park

Bob was gracious and met us as we pulled in. The park is on a private spring-fed lake that has good fishing and is a perfect size for my kayak. Full hook-ups and WiFi is good. Verizon worked well. Laundry on-site but we didn't use it. Very reasonable price since we have a Passport America membership. Bob's family acquired the land in the Land run and have kept the 160 acres ever since. A little out of the way, but still a favorite of ours.

Little Axe — Lake Thunderbird State Park

    Great State Park in Oklahoma

We had a great stay in Lake Thunderbird State Park near Norman Oklahoma. The park has 11 campground areas situated around the 6000 acre centerpiece lake with many tent, RV sites and some of those have full hook up; our choice was the Little Ax campground on the southern end just off Oklahoma 9. In addition to water activities the park offers hunting, horse rental and boarding, equestrian trails, hiking, mountain biking, nature trails, a nature center, and an archery range. Our lakefront site#37 was nice and shaded with a gentle lake breeze offering a concrete pad, water, 30/15 amp electric, concrete table, lantern holder, fire ring and grill at site. The campground has an entry station, camp host, picnic shelters, playground, bathhouse and laundry, beach area, common fire pit, Verizon 4 bars, dump station, trash receptacles, interior roads are paved, with many sites waterfront. RV sites are close quarters. Tent sites are amazing...pads, concrete table, fire ring, grill, water spigot dispersed, waterfront sites. The town of Norman has all the amenities: shopping, dining, groceries, fuel and yes, Walmart. The area is home to local wineries and breweries and also the hometown to actor James Garner. WARNING: Oklahoma State Parks charge a daily parking fee per vehicle of$10 in addition to the camping fee and they enforce it...just saying from experience...read the information carefully! 13101 Alameda Dr, Norman, OK 73026 GPS- 35.234940,-97.219224 for the Little Ax Campground.

Hostile long-term campers on site - beware

Arrived on a Sunday. Moved to a new site Monday for a long, 3 week stay.

On Tuesday morning, while walking my dog around the park, was verbally accosted by a long-term camper (onsite for 2 years, per management) because my dog pooped on his grass. Picked up the poop, apologized and moved on. Gentleman came back out (apparently after watching the video he had) and followed me. Move verbal abuse.

Short-term camper drinking coffee asked me what was going on. Explained and she told the gentleman to"chill out- he picked up the poop". He verbally abused her.

This was reported to the front office when they opened. Was supposed to be passed on to the manager. My wife, dog and I went to the office a half hour after the manager got in to discuss the situation. He hadn't been briefed by the person taking the report yet.

The manager swore that this gentleman was a loner, kept to himself and"wanted to be left alone". My question - if he"wanted to be left alone", why in the world would he follow me to continue the verbal abuse? And why in the world would he verbally abuse someone not involved in the issue?

We decided to leave. Worried about the safety for my wife, dog and self. Management would not return our money - park policy. They care more about the money than the safety and security of their clients.

    Basic

This is an RV park that someone built next to their house, inside Stillwater city limits. I believe it did have a bathroom area, in the green and tan building. I didn't feel right getting out at this one it was right next to the house. This park did have electric, water and sewer. The place is pretty basic, I feel it would be good for out of town workers to stay.

    Electrical box didn’t work

DO NOT STAY HERE. We arrived around 10pm only to realize the electrical box didn’t work. There is no after hours number and nobody to offer assistance. Several kind neighbors came to offer help, all coming to the same conclusion. Electric box didn’t work. Luckily, we found Road Runner Rv park down the highway. They picked up after hours and got us in right away. Next morning, Twin Fountains wasn’t even apologetic. They argued with me that it was working and was unwilling to offer a full refund. Shame on Twin Fountains to be so greedy.

    Very Nice

This is a beautifully kept up RV park.  Lots of grass, concrete pads, and storm shelters.  Easy in and out, except getting into park from Interstate.  It is a very dangerous turn across three lanes of traffic to get into park.  If traveling North get off one exit early.

    A true escape!

This park is FABULOUS! I have been RVing for 25 years and putting a lot of work into seeking out the best there is in RV parks. This park has it all. It would be enough on its own that is has meticulously landscaped grounds, a pool, hot tub, game room, library, laundry and restaurant, but it goes even further. This park, designed by an architect, is beautiful! You’ll see the exquisite detail every where you go. But the best? The best is the Goodwill Ambassadors they have to meet your every need. Be sure to meet Don - he will be the highlight of your visit - an inspiration to those of us out here seeking fun and dreams! This is a MUST visit park!!

    Beautiful quiet area.

This campground was very quiet and beautiful. The grounds are neat and well cared for. There are about 10 reservable sites with full hookups. Several sites with water and electric. Most pads are short. No skiing or motorboats allowed. Restrooms need some work and only cold water available for showers.

Little Sandy Campground — Lake Thunderbird State Park

Crowded but a nice quick getaway

Hadn't been to Lake Thunderbird since I was a kid (40+ years ago) and all I could remember is that we always called it Lake Dirtybird because of the water. As far as that is concerned nothing has really changed. Typical central Oklahoma red water.

We stayed a couple of nights at Little Sandy Campground. There weren't any full hookups and we had to stay at a spot that was water and electric only ... and boy were we glad. The full hookup sites in the next campground over -- Hickory Hill -- were packed in like sardines. Our site on the upper loop of Little Sandy was away from all the hubub but also away from the water, so there was that. If you don't mind being right up against the next camper, Hickory Hill has some full hookup sites right on the water. However, the upper loop of Little Sandy was nice with all the trees and the better-spaced sites. In my opinion spot 36 is the best one. No one can camp behind you and there's a lot of space to the south. The dump site it up on the main road about a quarter of mile north from the campground entrance and easily accessible.
We stayed the first weekend of May 2020 ... the first weekend some of the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. The place was PACKED, especially with tent campers. No judgment, just saying there were a lot of them. It was tough finding a path to the water without walking through someone's campsite. The water pressure was pretty low at the site and my guess it was due to all the sites being in use.
All in all it was a nice weekend, but I've stayed at nicer and quieter places.

    Right on the lake!

Camped for 2 nights at Hickory Hill site 21 (HH021). Highly recommend this premium site. Right in the lake, we could watch the sun rise over the lake. Site had full hookups and was pretty level. The first night we had a lot of tornado warnings and the sirens were going off continuously. Fortunately we got nothing but rain and a little hail, as this started right after we arrived and we had no idea where a tornado shelter was - I highly recommend you scope out the shelters first when camping in OK in Mar/April!

I live really close to this one so I went by and took some pictures for other people to see in case they were interested this Rv spot. It is right at the intersection of 33 and 177 in Perkins Oklahoma. I wouldn't say this is a place to enjoy a good camping trip but if you're looking for a place to stay the for the night or just passing through and need a place this is a good option. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The camping spots and area around were well maintained. I did see a sign that said Wi-Fi available.
