    Arcadia Lake

Good for newbies, popular for all

There are three main campground parks around the lake. Spring Creek and Scissortail Parks are off 15th. Central Park is off the 2nd Street entrance.

Spring Creek and Scissortail were both full, so we ended up at the Spring Creek Park.

In Spring Creek, there is primitive camping in Bobcat Campground and King Snake Campground. We stayed in the Cottonwood Campground which had a mix of camping types.

We stayed in an RTT, so all of the spots were easy access for us, but I saw some big rigs and setups with boats, so it looked like it was easy to park for most anyone.

The spaces were ample sized and most all of them had enough trees surrounding them to offer decent privacy. They all had had fire pits, grills and picnic tables. They all looked pretty level.

Restrooms and showers were passable, but not much better than that.

The campground was pretty full, but pretty quiet. No problems with noise.

Lots of trash cans around, but they were all full or overflowing. Most of the campsites had some lingering trash around. Definitely could have been cleaner.

My son had a ball and this place isn't far from home, so we will probably checkout the other campgrounds on 15th the next time we are there.

In addition to easy setup and getting around, the other thing that makes this great for new campers is that the city of Edmond is just a few miles away for a full list of stores and restaurants. Or head east on 2nd (66) and go to Pop's in Arcadia for a burger and a selection of over 500 sodas.

And finally, lots of Oklahoma hospitality in case you do have problems or need a hand.

    Arcadia Lake

    Spacious sites with beautiful views

I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities and spacious sites at such an affordable rate. Fish cleaning stations, grill, fire pit, and solid picnic tables at every site make this one of the better places I've camped. It's quiet, spaced out well, and there is so much room between sites that you can't hear your neighbors unless they're really loud. The bathrooms need serious updating or I would have given 5 stars.

    Oklahoma City East KOA

    Great, clean campground. Friendly staff.

We stayed over Labor Day weekend and the park was mostly full. It’s right off a major interstate and easy to get to. Even with being off a main road and lots of other campers the park was nice and quiet. We stayed in a pull thru spot so easy to get in an out of. Nice and level. We had a picnic table and grill. Lots of shade trees and paved roads made it nice to take walks. The bathrooms were nice and clean, individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower in each. Had a nice playground and great swimming pool. They have a small store on site for souvenirs, camping items and also food items. There are storm shelters on site.

The spots were a little close together but not too bad.

    Oklahoma City East KOA

    Convenient but noisy

Just did a quick overnight stop here.  The site is bordered by a moderately busy 4 lane road which is why I gave it 4 vs 5 stars.

I was in a tent site but had easy access to electric and water.  I hosted a Zoom meeting from the picnic table with no issues over the KOA Wifi.

As is typical with KOA and most RV campgrounds, very closely packed sites.

Exceptionally friendly staff and well kept facilities.

Fishing opportunities: Wewoka Lake provides good fishing spots directly accessible from lakeside cabin sites. "Nice lake it is a smaller lake but still has some nice RV hookups as well as primitive camping. It is a boating friendly lake jet skis as well," reports Aaron T. from Wewoka Lake.

Boating access: Multiple lakes near Prague accommodate various watercraft with convenient launches near cabin areas. "It has a small RV campground and some primitive campsites along waters edge. It is always active with jet skiing," explains Melanie W.

Convenient location: Proximity to Oklahoma City makes these cabins ideal for weekend getaways without long drives. "Very good place to stay," writes Charley K. about Oklahoma City East KOA, adding they "stay at this KOA several times a year."

Storm shelters: Safety features are important in this tornado-prone region. "There are storm shelters on site," notes Amy D., a valuable amenity during severe weather seasons in central Oklahoma.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Book cabins well in advance during peak summer months when occupancy rates can reach 100%. "During the week there is always campsites. The lake is overcrowded on the weekends and during festivals," cautions Melanie W.

Water quality concerns: Some locations may have water quality issues. "Water was brown, but we have a Berkey filter, so it wasn't a problem for us. I wouldn't be happy if we didn't have the Berkey, and weren't still winterized. Use your inline filters here!" recommends Tashi K. from Oklahoma City East KOA.

Bathroom facilities: Bathroom access varies significantly between cabin locations. "Only about 10 shower/bathroom combos for an entire campground. Long waits and not cleaned," reports Hannah S. about one location.

Safety considerations: Some locations enforce alcohol restrictions to maintain a family-friendly environment. "Always a blast! Enjoy bringing my children here," shares Nicole S. about Oklahoma County Arcadia Lake City Park.

Space constraints: Family-sized cabins may require early booking as they're limited at most locations. "Cabin was small but clean and ideal for our needs. Nice porch with a swing," explains Barkley K.

Proximity to attractions: Many Prague-area cabins provide easy access to family activities. "Close to OKC zoo & science museum," notes Rachel P., making these cabin rentals good base camps for day trips.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Most cabin locations also accommodate RVs with varying site quality. "Very level sites. Everything worked great," reports Bill D. from Pioneer RV Park.

Location considerations: RVers note that cabin camping locations near Prague vary in their natural settings. "Looking for a nature centric camping experience? This isn't your place. Need a place convenient to the Lazy E Arena, Guthrie or Edmond to base out of? This could be your spot," advises Neil T.

Hookup availability: Electric, water, and sewer connections are standard at most sites offering cabins. "Our spots were a good size to fit our 45' toyhauler with 2 vehicles (and put the back patio down)," shares Rachel P.
