      Cave Park

      Primitive Camping next to River

Cave Park is a shady city park with no utilities. Cave Park has a public access point that allows the public to put kayaks and boats into the river. This also is a favorite fishing spot for locals. Cave Park does allow primitive camping at no cost for one night only. There are playground equipment and several pavillons.

      New Find

Happened across this place from a Facebook posting by the owners and decided to check it out. Not yet gone but will be this summer. Seen it is a new place that is Veteran Owned so I wanted to help bring business by establishing them on this platform. So for those that see this, please help spread the word. Thank you.

      Lake Carl Blackwell

      Poorly Planned

Campsites are very close together. There is no picnic table and the fire grate things were all bent and not usable.

      Trails poorly marked

It is beautiful out here but if more people had been out camping I hate to think how loud and crowded it would have been.

      Easy Peasy

Simple but nice park with decent amenities. Water (in March), Electricity and city WiFi. Playground, disc golf, shelters, basket ball court. Self pay box at $15.00. No picnic tables or individual fire pits but sweet for an overnight.

      Good for an overnight stay

This is a small, older campground. It is clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We probably are a little late in the season, not real busy (early November). Hookups all work, no problems. Sites are gravel and maybe a little rutted, some more gravel would help level things up. I don’t know exactly how KOA differentiates between Holidays and Journeys but this seems more like other Journeys we’ve stayed at.

      Osage Hills State Park Campground

      Probably one of my favorites!

Very pretty and quiet campground. Spots spaced nicely apart, new comfort stations, dump station, playground, group spots, and overall just really enjoyable place to stay.

Water turns off to sites on Nov 1 but restrooms and showers are still on.

Great stargazing on a clear night.

      Walnut River RV Park

Arkansas City Walnut River City Park

Walnut River RV Park is a city park next to the river with a few shade trees. Complete with boat ramp and terribly stinky bathroom. No electric outlets. No showers.

Beautiful little campsite overlooking the water

New restrooms/showers and electric RV sites with shared water for $25. Park RV on asphalt facing campsite. Tent camping area is $15 has picnic tables but no electricity or water and restrooms/showers are on other side of campground. Signs everywhere saying “No tent camping in this area.” But if you pay online for RV site, you can use tent or RV but not both (per Ranger Joe).

      Cherokee Strip Campground

Mature campsite for RVs and Tents

Electric, water, restrooms and coin-operated showers. Located on the highway so there is highway noise but plenty of shade trees. Small convenience snack store next door. Needs some repairs and newer picnic tables but better than many places.

      Great stay

Super nice view and platform. Panicked when the couple with two kids parked behind me. Oh, the yelling. I guess the tension was too much because thankfully they left and never came back. 😂 Other than that terrifying sh** show, I had an absolutely beautiful night. The weather was perfect, and that view was 🔥.

I didn’t use the showers or bathrooms.

      Party place

This is definitely a party campground, so if that is your thing you will enjoy. Just not my cup of tea. Sites are nice and there is room, but not private at all. Best sites in Beaver Cove are 25, 26, 27. Site 27 has shade but is hard to back into. Site 26 is the best for views if it’s not hot hot summer. Bathrooms get a no star. 2 vault toilets at campground. 2 showers you have to drive to and they are an odd set up with zero privacy and water spraying all over your towel and clean clothes. Hot water was almost non-existent. While the views are pretty, the lake is way down due to drought. Fishing looks good. I will probably look elsewhere if in this area again.

      Lovely campground

The campground seems to have lots of room. It’s on the water and beautiful although on the site Recreation.gov, it says you cannot reserve a spot. It’s first come first serve there were several spots 18.00 per night includes electric and water.

      Quiet and beautiful

I love this place. There are even locals that camp out here and are fun and friendly. Sometimes they will even start playing music and encourage to even jump in or just sit and listen.

      Beautiful lake and grounds

Lakeside spots are spacious and well kept. Be prepared for flying bugs. Lake is great for swimming with shallow flat bottom.

      Gorgeous location, huge pretty lake

Couldn't ask for a better place to spend a few weeks. I ended up buying a kyack to explore the lake. I was on the primitive site (13 is the best as super shady) the staff are very friendly and the whole place is well looked after. Didnt want to leave and absolutely would love to stay here again!

      Nice trip

Very nice woodsy campground. You must reserve in advance. We were able to fit in more trailers than the reservation said. Fairly clean bathrooms that are very close to this site.

      Beautiful lake

Nice spot near Stillwater. Great mountain bike and hiking trails. Good fishing I’m told. Frisbee golf course. Our campsite was in the RV area, shaded, water and power available. Tent sites available next to the water.

      Sleeping in Northeastern Oklahoma Woods

Beautiful old, but refurbished campground in Northeast Oklahoma, built by the CCC! Our last night of a 16-day trip is quietly coming to a close. We made reservations on-line (that's another story!), and when we got there around 8 p.m., the RV campground was about 1/3 full. There are only electric hookups and community water is scattered through the campground. There are tent cabins to rent, and separate tent camping area, also where the overlook is, although it was overgrown and not easy to see the view! There are newish shower and toilet buildings scattered around and my hubs said they were nice and clean... shower water warm only. There is a swimming pool opening early June and nice walking trails. Lots of history if you go that route!

      Relaxing time

We reserve two sites side by side in the beaver cove campground. The sites are on a slight decline but pull through and we were able to make them level with our blocks. The sides have enough room for the grandkids to roam around it besides for electric and water only but offered a view of the lake and we're close by a swim area. The trees at the sides provided adequate shade for the afternoon sun and the campground offered boat ramps couple of swim areas and on-site store for gas and supplies including and after hours vending machine with propane tanks and charcoal and s'mores supplies. The dump station provided slots for three RVs at one time and well thought out. The crap ground offers hiking bicycle and horse trails that cover a large area. Wildlife was abundant with plenty of deer and Canadian geese and squirrels. The campgrounds offer some annual sites for long-term visits but there is a waiting list to be on that.
