Silver Springs Campground offers electric hookup sites and accommodates both tent and RV campers with pets. Campground users note the dog park at Bow Wow Beach as a standout feature, describing it as "the best dog park" with a swimming beach exclusively for dogs. Sites are $18 per night with electric hookups, making it an affordable option for pet owners camping near Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA also welcomes pets and features two dedicated dog parks plus dog-friendly trails. The campground maintains clean facilities and offers full hookup sites for RVs, cabin accommodations, and tent camping areas.

The fenced dog park at Silver Springs provides ample space for off-leash play with grassy terrain and swimming opportunities for dogs who enjoy water. Campers visiting with pets should be aware that some campgrounds have designated pet and non-pet areas, which can limit access to certain amenities like playgrounds and swimming beaches when traveling with dogs. Sites at Silver Springs can become muddy during wet seasons, but are spacious enough to position tents and equipment away from standing water. The campground's proximity to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (17 minutes away) makes it convenient for hikers with dogs, while Streetsboro KOA's location provides easy access to Cleveland attractions approximately 30 minutes away. Portable toilets are available throughout Silver Springs Campground, though no shower facilities are provided for campers.

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

      West Branch State Park Campground

      Great Site

My wife, 2 dogs, and I came with no reservation. They gave us a temporary tag to drive around and see what site we wanted. We ended up going to site 190 which had a decent amount of space to tent camp. The amenities were great. Clean shower and toilets in a well lit building.  There is also a dog park with a pond 2 minutes up the road which was great to wear the dogs out at. The only complaint I have is the site was a little close to our neighbor for our liking but we would go back!

    Guide to Hiram

Camping areas near Hiram are situated in the Allegheny foothills of northeastern Ohio, with elevations ranging from 900 to 1,200 feet. The region experiences humid summers with temperatures averaging 80-85°F during peak camping season from May through September. Most campgrounds in this area feature mature hardwood forests with mixed oak, maple, and hickory trees that provide natural shade for tent sites.

    What to do

Lake swimming and fishing: At Nelson-Kennedy Ledges Quarry Park, campers can enjoy swimming in the quarry's clear waters. One visitor described it as having "beautiful water, amazing folks...Swimming, Cliff Diving, very free and fun!" The park also has food vendors and concerts during summer months.

Disc golf courses: Punderson State Park Campground offers disc golf among its many activities. A visitor noted the park has "opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming (no lifeguard) and golf."

Hiking trails: The region features numerous hiking paths through forests and rock formations. A visitor to Punderson mentioned it has "lots of trails, unique sites and tons of history. It was very fun walking around while learning some of the very old and somewhat creepy history."

Dog-friendly activities: There are several dog friendly campgrounds near Hiram with special canine amenities. At Mill Creek Camping, waterfront sites allow dogs to enjoy the shoreline. A camper mentioned having "our own private little beach which our dog loves. Which is another plus, we have a Rottie mix and they allow her in."

    What campers like

Quiet, affordable sites: Campers appreciate reasonably priced options in the Hiram area. At Mill Creek, a reviewer noted the "low cost for staying ($18 for a waterside, spacious site for up to 8 people, 2 tents at no additional costs)."

Privacy between sites: Silver Springs Campground offers well-spaced campsites. A reviewer described it as "a small but very peaceful" campground where "sites were a good size and fit the online description well. Some sites are full sun while others are mostly shade but the website describes them well."

Clean facilities: Despite being basic, campgrounds maintain good standards. One camper at Silver Springs noted, "Super Clean! Great activities for all ages with proper Covid19 precautions."

Water activities: Multiple campgrounds feature swimming and boating options. At Woodside Lake Park, visitors enjoy "the swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities."

    What you should know

Bathroom facilities vary widely: Many campgrounds have limited facilities. At Silver Springs, "bathrooms are just port-a-johns located on either side of the campground but there are flushable toilets a little walk away" at nearby ball fields.

Site conditions can be challenging: Prepare for potentially uneven terrain. A Punderson State Park visitor warned that "the lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground."

Seasonal limitations: Most campgrounds operate from April/May through October. Roundup Lake RV Resort has pools and lakes that are "closed to swimming most years" after Labor Day.
