    Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

    Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

    Blue Water Campground

    Our stay at bluewater

The staff is extremely friendly, and try to accomadate with anything you could need. The campesites are fairly large with gravel pads. They offer water and electric hook-up for 30&50 amps. There is not a sewer hook up but they do offer a weekly pump out for a small fee and a dump station on the way out. The pool, ponds, playground and pavillion are all within walking distance from almost any site.

    Happy Acres Campground

Friendly, clean, and easy to get to

This was the first park we went to as new trailer owners. It did not disappoint. Staff are so friendly and helpful. It is right off I69 so easy access but you will have road noise. We did not find it intrusive but understand not everyone may think the same. Sites are gravel and where we were, pretty level. There are other sites you may need leveling pads on but nothing looked crazy. Our site had full hookups. Some had only water and electric. No issues with cell service or Starlink. We had a fire ring and picnic table. Not a lot of trees though. The seasonal parts of the park do. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Our site was a pull through, others are back in. It seemed to me that 3/4 of the sites are occupied by semi permanent seasonal tenants though. Almost looked like a mobile home park in a way with sheds and decks. They have the best sites along the water. The transient sites are separated from them. Because of the permanent residents there is golf cart traffic. It was not noisy or party atmosphere though. Angola is close for dining or shopping. All and all, enjoyed the visit and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground

Just a visit to check it out

The pool looked to be the spot for the kids of all ages on this hot 4th of July. A well manicured campground, and while looking a bit narrow, it seemed some pull thrus for big rigs were adequate, with concrete pads and picnic tables. But all the driveways and pull thrus were gravel. Lots of seasonal trailers, and some large ones! No junk, and golf carts are restricted to electric.

    Fireside Resort RV Park

Close to highway and event center

This is a decent place. Very close to the event center and auto center where they have alot of big events. Its a gravel lot in the middle of a field but they have all the normal amenities. Even have a pool and propane fills. Alot of the people in here during the winter are people living long-term for seasonal work. Not the best rigs so you wont feel bad if yours isnt new or clean. Strong highway noise but overall a quite place

    Harrison Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet place to get away

We have been here a few times. Really enjoy the secluded sites and the lake. It’s a small campground but it’s clean and quiet. Most sites don’t have water hookups but they do have electric. There isn’t much to do outside of the campground but there is a nice lake with canoe and kayak rentals. Very pet friendly and even has a dog beach.

    Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday

    Great Visit / Great Park

We spent this past week at Hogback Lake KOA. It is late in the season so much of the park was closed for the season, but we had a great year round site. A little bit of road noise, but water, electric, sewer, cable TV all worked great. We have family in the area and had a great visit. We will definitely stay here again in the spring.

    Adventure Bound Pleasant View

    Wagner Subscriber Campout

We stayed at this campground in the group camp area. The sites are tight but do provide water and 30 amp electric.

The campground offers a pond for fishing , swimming pool , bounce pad , inflatable lake fun, dog park and mini golf.

Since we were there as a group event we didn’t use any of the extras but it all looked nice and clean plus lots of fun.

Cell coverage was spotty but you could usually get some kind of signal.

The campground has a lot of seasonal sites as well as primitive tent camping and standard rv sites.

Guide to Defiance

Campgrounds near Defiance, Ohio primarily operate in a flat, glacial terrain at approximately 700 feet elevation, with average summer temperatures ranging from 65-85°F. The Maumee River runs through the region, creating opportunities for water recreation at several camping locations. Winter camping options remain limited despite some year-round availability due to freezing temperatures from December through February.

What to do

Kayaking the Maumee River: Independence Dam State Park Campground offers direct river access with dedicated put-in spots. "There is an opening near the middle of the campsite which allows access, along with access for kayaks, which is pretty cool," explains Andy K., who appreciates the river proximity despite limited entry points.

Fishing at multiple lakes: Woodbrige Campground features both a lake and a swimming area with unique amenities. "Our boys loved the water slide anchored in the lake to play on," reports Ed A., noting that lakefront sites are primarily occupied by seasonal campers but day-use areas remain accessible.

Cross-country skiing: Van Buren State Park Campground offers winter recreation options with terrain suitable for beginners. "I came cross country skiing here in early January and it was absolutely amazing. It is cold but the terrain is simple for first time skiers," shares Kevin T., highlighting the park's year-round appeal beyond summer camping.

What campers like

Swimming facilities: Harrison Lake State Park Campground provides a dedicated beach area for cooling off. "A lake to cool off in that's not too far from the south loop sites. Modern toilets and showers. Open space camping on grass with strip of woods between sites and lake," notes Becky, describing the park's layout.

Private campsites: Independence Dam State Park offers elevated sites overlooking the Maumee River. "Sites 11-15 are the best in my opinion. Site 13 has direct access to the river on a small walking path," recommends Amanda M., who appreciates the campground's layout despite its basic amenities.

Well-maintained grounds: Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground keeps facilities in excellent condition. "A well manicured campground, and while looking a bit narrow, it seemed some pull thrus for big rigs were adequate, with concrete pads and picnic tables," observed Tim G. during a visit, noting the campground restricts golf carts to electric models.

What you should know

Campground water quality: Some rv sites near Defiance, Ohio have water supply issues. "The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the water had a strong sulfur smell coming out of the fresh water hook up. Next time I'd fill my tank prior to arrival with fresh water," advises Ed A. about Woodbrige Campground.

Limited seasonal facilities: Camping options near Defiance may have reduced amenities in colder months. "Van Buren State park is very easy to access from I-75. It has tons of trails and a pond," explains Lindsay B., though noting that pit toilets and no shower facilities limit longer stays.

Reservation requirements: Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday maintains extended hours for late arrivals. "We arrived late to find an envelope with our name on it with all of our info inside... the site was perfect with everything we would need already there," reports Marshall T., describing the check-in process for this nearby Indiana option.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Consider sites near play areas for convenience. "The middle is nice if you have kids since there's a playground, swings, basketball, and tether court," suggests Brendan V. about Van Buren State Park, though cautioning that tent campers need to choose sites carefully due to size limitations.

Water recreation options: Harrison Lake State Park provides diverse activities beyond camping. "The lake is nice for swimming and there are bike rentals which was fun as well. We did not use it, but there is a dog beach as well," shares Sherrie W., who stayed in one of the park's yurts with her family.

Sites with room for multiple tents: Barefoot Retreat offers three sites with full hookups while still accommodating tent campers. Located near fishing spots, this small campground provides water and electric hookups for RVs while allowing additional tent space within each site.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: Some rv campsites near Defiance, Ohio require careful positioning. "Our site was easy to level," notes a visitor about Arrowhead Lake RV Park, where gravel pull-through sites feature concrete pads, 50-amp electric service, and full hookups.

After-hours arrival process: Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday accommodates late check-ins with a reliable system. "This place was fantastic... we arrived late to find an envelope with our name on it with all of our info inside," reports Marshall T., appreciating the convenience for travelers.

Dump station availability: Indian Meadow Ohio Turnpike RV Lot provides overnight amenities for travelers. "There are about 20 spots all for 40 feet total RV leaks. Requires an approval from staff at the travel center. For what it is it is a nice safe break with a potable water station and a dump station right there," explains Steven F. about this convenient option for motorhomes passing through the region.
