Walnut Grove Campground has a rich history of family camping along the beautiful Sandusky Scenic River in the uncharacteristic rolling hills in Seneca County. There have been five camp owners since the campground was developed in 1945 on a local family farm. The 52 acre camp has an upper and lower section with fishing ponds. The lower part has 70 sites that are located along the Sandusky Scenic River and has beautiful shade trees on the large camping lots. The remaining sites are located in the upper section. We welcome all campers and offer water, sewer and electric sites for those who would like to stay a short while, a month, or the season. In addition, we offer electric or primitive tent sites. For campers who do not have campers/tents, we offer cabins and an air-conditioned and heated fully furnished house (rental tab) that sleeps nine. The upper and lower sections have shelters for group camping.

    Delaware State Park Campground

Large, well-laid-out park on the Delaware Reservoir

General: 214-site campground, all with electric hookups. Campsites are in four loops.

Site Quality: All sites are paved and appeared to be level. A fire ring, picnic table, and electric hookup complete each site. Generous foliage provides separation between most sites.

Bath/Shower: Fully contained all-gender units in the third loop. Each one has a bench and a baby changing station. Soap and air dryers. A more traditional bath/shower house was in the fourth loop (don’t know about the first two loops).

Activities/Amenities: Several hiking trails (but it was raining when we were there so didn’t explore), a small putt-putt course (free use of putters and balls), disc golf, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis, and a small camper store. Each loop has a playground and other recreational options (i.e. volleyball net). The marina offers water toy rentals.

My five-star rating is based on the possibility of what our stay might have been if the weather had cooperated! Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy during our stay in June. We will definitely be back again to take advantage of the marina rentals.

    River of Fire

We came here during the 2024 River of Fire Event. The campground was packed but you couldn’t tell because the sites were all so spacious! Half the sites are right on the river which gives a good view and great place to fish and kayak(too cold on this trip). The event was very well organized and very fun to participate in. Staff was all very friendly and helpful! After the event many campers cleared out(end of season and kids in school) so my husband and I basically had the whole campground to ourselves for 2 of the days. It was extremely peaceful there and we look forward to returning.

Great base camp for visiting Cedar Point

The owners are very frank about what they have here. This isn't a place to get away from it all. It's behind a car dealership and next to a fairly busy railroad. But they do offer amenities to make your stay easier.
We normally stay at State Parks, so didn't understand all the options they had, and ended up with a deluxe dual site which had more than we needed, but was a pleasant surprise.
Our site was not in the tree shaded area, but instead included a Shelter with table, a patio with furniture and a fire pit, a grill and a free-stranding sink and electricity. the sites are close together, but our neighbors were friendly and comradery was the norm.
The showers are a bit cramped, but plenty of hot water.  There are TWO heated pools, which we didn't have time to use.  Plus there's  a big bouncy hill for the kids, something I've never seen before. A good General store and friendly staff.
We spent all our time at Cedar Point, but here are things for the kids to do here, including a crafts barn.

    Ohio River Peace

We arrived and were able to upgrade to site #1 due to a cancellation, overlooking the Ohio River. No one between us and the river, and we had a grand view.

The campground is very well kept, all sites would have been a good spot to call home for a couple nights. It was also a pretty quiet camp, compared to others, but they had their usual weekend events during the day for kids, to keep them occupied. Saturday evening they had a pot luck and then live music, which was good enough being a free event.

The only complaint is that one of the campers had a white standard poodle and though leashed, they didn’t control the dog out of others personal space. Very irritating. The camp owners were there and we didn’t see them communicate with the dog’s owner about controlling their dog either. The dog seemed to still be in a puppy mode and just wanted to play, but that doesn’t excuse the owners.

All in all, a great camp that we’ll likely return to.

    Road Noise

First time visiting this state campground and we only stayed one night, did not explore entire park.  Grounds well maintained, clean and decent amenities.  The sites are well placed and a good size.  But no water view on any of the “premium water view” sites in loop L, other than one L17 (the picture with view)  Same for loop K.  Guests and hosts were friendly and welcoming.  Quiet except for the road noise due to nearby busy roads.  The boat launch to lake access is very nice with plenty of parking and space.  Not bad for a stop when traveling through or a weekend.  We stayed with 34’ camper.  Site L15 (picture with red truck)

    Good overnight

I didn’t see much of this park because I only stayed overnight, but I got a good nights rest and felt safe. A few of the spots are not level and it appeared that not all of them had tables or fire pits. It didn’t appear that anyone did drive throughs to monitor noise or who was there, but I didn’t mind. There were quite a bit of teens camping out and while they were pretty loud late into the night, it made me happy to see them camping and floating the river. The pit toilet shelters were large and clean too.

    Great Location

Older state park, but very well maintained. Restrooms and showers clean and sanitary. Pool was not open yet when we were there. Close to hiking, MTB trails, canoeing. Sites are generally level with ample spacing. Park staff were friendly and helpful. We camped at Mohican State Park in a Motorhome on a site along the river.

    Wonderfully Updated!

This campground has been wonderfully updated! The owners have added in an additional playground, dog park, newly paved roadways, newly redone building, a new pavilion, fire pit, and boat parking! We love camping here every chance we get! It is convenient to the turnpike and Cedar Point is just a few miles away!

    Scam company

Place is a joke, ran by two little piece of shit trolls with a god complex to over come the lack of achievement in there lives. They have zero management skills and even less people skills. Must be overcompensating for something.

    Absolutely Wonderful!

One of the best trips I've ever gone on! We went here for the solar eclipse. Absolute beautiful farm with plenty of space for various tents and a gorgeous cabin. Adorable and friendly variety of animals. We loved the donkeys and horses! Very cute little bar with plently to stare at and read. The best part about all of it is the host, shes a absolute joy to be around and very kind! We cannot wait to possibly come back in the summer!!

    Worst service from a owner

I grew up attending the pow wow every year for 30 years and used to enjoy this place very much with my entire family. Upon my most recent experience, I have changed my thoughts about this place and strongly believe that it needs a desperate change of ownership. My most recent experience has been the worst interaction I have ever had with someone who claims to be the owner. It started with being charged $360 for a site that was for myself, a disabled veteran mother, and father in law. Upon finding out they charged my mother in law another $120 for 3 people on my campsite, we went to go get our money back. After explaining the campsite arrangement on one of the 6 sites we had rented and our overcharged site, she decided to get rude with my brother in law stating "she was a millionaire and he could get off her property bitch" all this said after he had asked her to stop being rude! Unfortunately, she return $30 dollars out of the $120 we over spent, The campsite was riddled with poison ivy my 2 year old and I both got, and my brothers site did not accommodate the camper it was supposed to as promised, and was only refunded $25 out of his $80 deposit. Needless to say Mrs Jennifer Settles AKA owner/ Millionaire/ Scammer has earned a A+ for the worst customer experience we have ever encountered it was such a honor to give my service for people like you!

    Quiet besides train

When we pulled in, we seemed to be the only campers down the middle row. We backed in and had plenty of space at our site. Not secluded though and no privacy from neighbors if we had any. Location was convenient since we are traveling East and going to Cuyahoga NP in the morning. The campground seemed quiet until we were woken up several times by a nearby train. As a light sleeper this woke me up way too often. There was no fee to get into the park which was nice but there was a $6.50 fee for booking online.
