"I've been there during a full on thunderstorm and watched as the trees swayed in the wind. Lovely campground with lots of activities to entertain you. There are lots of stores nearby as well as orchards to pick your own fruits. I stayed there one weekend and went to Splish Splash waterpark that's not far away," writes Giselle P. about Wildwood State Park Campground.

Tick prevalence: Some campgrounds report significant tick issues. "I was so excited when we got here. The sites are spacious and it's really beautiful. But by the 2nd day I had 3 ticks on me. My dog had one and by the end my husband had 2. That was so crazy because we were just sitting by our camper," warns LAURA Y. about Turkey Swamp Park.
Bathroom facilities vary widely: Pine Cone Campgrounds has limited facilities. "The campsite falls short in terms of its bathroom facilities. The stall doors are quite small and lack privacy, which can be a discomfort for many guests. Moreover, only one stall has a functioning lock, which can be inconvenient during peak times," reports Bradley B. at Pine Cone Campgrounds.
Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some parks. "Clean bathrooms. Sites are a little too close together. Noisy with highway traffic. Well maintained though," notes Justin S. about Allaire State Park.

Choose bug-free timing: Some campers report surprise bug-free experiences. "We went camping with our 2- and 3-year-old kids. We were worried about bugs, but we didn't even use mosquito repellent and didn't get a single bite! The campground was super clean too. It was perfect!" shares JAEWOOK P. about Turkey Swamp Park.

Boat rental rates are acceptable and there are four different styles to choose from. Campsites are roomy with electric and water hookups," notes Dan W.
Consider beach proximity: Smith Point County Park offers family-friendly beach access. "Our 36ft motorhome backed up to a raised balcony overlooking the bay. Less than 100 feet from the front of our site was the beach and the Atlantic Ocean view. A stones throw away was one of several shower and rest room buildings. Clean and well lit," describes Patrick C.
Tips from RVers
Platform sites available: Wildwood State Park offers specialized tent platforms. "This is one of my favorite campgrounds solely because there are platform sites so I can place my tent on a concrete or wooden platform. There is a separate area for RVs vs tents," explains Giselle P.
Hookup limitations: Check specific site amenities before booking. "Campsites are roomy with electric and water hookups. They don't have primitive campsites so your stuck paying the higher rate even though you don't need the hookups," advises Dan W. about Turkey Swamp Park.
Vehicle restrictions: Some campgrounds limit vehicles per site. "Recently they became very stringent about parking to vehicles at the site making it very difficult to visit with a family and 2 vehicles. I usually host group camping trips and the single vehicle rule makes that very difficult," warns Giselle P. about Wildwood State Park Campground.
