Campgrounds near Liberty, Mississippi provide a range of accommodations within the region's forested landscapes. Percy Quin State Park, located approximately 20 miles east of Liberty, serves as a primary destination with full-hookup RV sites, primitive tent camping areas, and cabin rentals along Lake Tangipahoa. The Clear Springs Recreation Area in Homochitto National Forest offers additional mixed-use camping approximately 15 miles northwest of Liberty. These established campgrounds feature both tent and RV sites with varying levels of amenities, while Caston Creek WMA provides limited dispersed camping options for those seeking more remote experiences.

Road conditions and accessibility vary across the region's campgrounds, with most established sites being reachable via paved roads. Percy Quin State Park features asphalt roads throughout, though several campers note the narrow campground roads can be challenging for larger rigs. "The campground roads were narrow and there were no signs at intersections in the campground indicating which loop to take for which campsite numbers," mentioned one visitor. Clear Springs Recreation Area has a mix of paved and dirt access roads that may present challenges during wet weather. Cell service remains inconsistent throughout the area, with visitors reporting weak signals at Percy Quin (2 bars on most carriers) and very limited connectivity at Clear Springs.

Waterfront sites represent highly sought-after locations in the region's campgrounds. At Percy Quin State Park, lakefront sites allow campers to launch kayaks directly from their campsites, with panoramic views of Lake Tangipahoa. A visitor noted, "We brought our kayaks and were able to dock at our campsite. We had a lot of fun playing in the lake." Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area similarly offers water-adjacent camping with a loop trail around the lake featuring boardwalks through wetland areas. The region experiences typical southern humidity with hot summers and mild winters, making spring and fall particularly appealing for comfortable camping conditions. Bathhouse quality varies significantly between campgrounds and can be inconsistent even within the same park, with several reviews mentioning cleanliness concerns at certain facilities while others praised recent renovations.

      Nice Park

Just stayed one night as I'm traveling. Sites were very nice and spacious. I arrived after the office closed so I just found a spot I liked and regestered in the morning.

      Sorry, no pictures.

      Indian Creek Campground

      Great city campground

Great wilderness camping. I stayed for 4 days and it was pretty crowded. My spot didn't have sewage and no one told me during the registration. There are sites with and without sewage. Make sure to ask while checking in. Otherwise everything was ok. The sites are concrete pads and pretty level. Each site has a fire pit and bench table.

      Natchez state park

Overall a nice campground. There was no entry gate, ranger or camp host so there wasn't much security. The restrooms were old but we'll kept up and clean. During our stay some other campers came in late at night and left very early and threw trash all over the ground around their campsite. Some better security would be good.

Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground

National Forest campground open during Government lockdown.!

This campground is located in the Mississippi Homochitto National Forest. There are two camping areas the Upper Loop and the Lower Loop. My site was in the lower loop. Each site has water and electric. There is a bathhouse with hot showers. There is a beautiful picnic area. Hike around the lake for a short hike or there are other trails with longer distances.

Nov 2025: I stopped back here on my way out of Mississippi. This time very dissapointing. My Site's firepit was full of trash & food. Trash cans were overflowing and the bathhouse was not as clean as before. I did not see the campground host this visit.

      Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

One of our favorite state parks

We love this park. Huge park with plenty of places to explore. We saw plenty of wildlife such as turkey, deer, rabbits, turtles, alligators and birds. Plenty of trails for hiking and biking. The river offers a nice swimming hole during the summer. WiFi worked good enough. Verizon cell service worked well in most areas of the park.

Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park Campground

      Disaster Area

The entry road is not really suited to most RVs The electric box has a wasp nest The concrete slab was partially covered in mud The picnic table area was covered in fire ants everywhere plus a huge ant hill Laundry is out of service The campground has no lawn care and you are basically camping in a mud jungle Mosquitoes were thick Leaves were deep There were two other campers 1 van, 1 motorcycle No on-site rangers or staff We never unhooked and left We will attempt to get our money back

Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground

      Sadly disappointed

I went to visit Cleat Springs. It is run down, roads are narrow and broken up, there are water moccasins in the lake. Nothing like the beautiful place it was.

      Clean, Organize, Friendly Overnight Stop

Arrived an hour early but no hassle, they were ready. It was raining hard but they lead me to my spot gladly. Bathrooms were well maintained, clean. Little store had essentials and they weren’t overpriced. They are easy in an out from interstate. I only stayed overnight but was a pleasant visit; you use them again. My site didn’t have a view of the lake but didn’t care just stayed overnight. The site was level and easy to back in.
