    Farr Park RV Camground

One of the better RV parks in BR Area

One of the better RV parks in the BR area (there's not many close to town).  Has electric and water hookups, but no sewer hookup.  The Mississippi River is nearby. There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge.  It is only 3 miles from LSU campus.  Some people stay here to tailgate for LSU football games.

Farr Park is part of the Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation system.  It is also an equestrian (horse) center.  There are stables and riding arenas near the campground.

There is a dump station available.  The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level.  This creates sags in your hose.  Also, there is no way to secure or screw in your connection to the sump station.  The station does have a concrete pad and non-potable water.  You can use the dump station for free if you are a camper.  Non-campers can pay a $10 fee to dump.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

River View RV Park & Resort

    Very nice RV park

This is a very nice RV Park. It’s big. Almost 150 sites, with water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric. There are also a few tent sites with electricity. It’s well kept-grass is mowed, grounds and facilities are clean. There is a playground, a dog park, pool and hot tub. Showers and bathrooms are nice. Laundry room, small grocery/gift shop. And a guest lounge. There is a paved walking trail along the river. There is also a public boat ramp about 1/4 mile away for access to the Mississippi. Internet was sport. With this many Class A motorhomes and people streaming media the server can’t keep up.

River View RV Park & Resort

    Spacious Campground

Mostly pull through full hookup sites. Nice grass inbetween sites, lots of shade trees, but not all spots shady, concrete pads (not sure if all are but most), gravel on roads, trash pickup at site, lots of grassy areas for walking dogs, some tent sites. Very attentive and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again, had spot 111 at the end with a great view of the mighty Mississippi River. Accepts Good Sam discount.

No sewage but there is a dump station to empty on way out.  Bathrooms have restrooms and showers available. 8/10.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Great location

Stayed Thu-Sun on an LSU football game weekend. Didn’t see anyone at the office- but spaces are well marked for finding the reserved spot. We were in B6- so no real shade- in the late afternoon the only decent shade is on row E. We had good cell signal and were able to stream.

When we arrived there were very few campers- but the park got a lot more visitors by late Friday. It was still pretty quiet throughout the stay. Many of the “campers” were large class A or Fifth wheels, but there were a few smaller units like ours (17 ft. TT). The spaces are grass which was obviously recently mowed and the driveway is white gravel/rock. We used the back trail to get to the levee to ride our e bikes and went on about a 30 mile ride south past L’Auberge, and then we went on another 10 mile ride north toward the capital. The bike paths are in good condition and there are a good number of walkers/runners/bicyclists/and scooters using the paths. I checked out the bath house and it was clean and well maintained. There were 4 (ladies) showers and 3 stalls. There are multiple spaces for campers to dump, although we needed to use the front spots due to height. We decided to get an early start on Sunday morning and were at the dump station before 8- only one other unit arrived when we were finishing up- there wasn’t a line to wait in for us. We will definitely return to Farr for another game weekend. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Baton Rouge KOA

Exactly what you need when visiting Baton Rouge!

We have stayed here for 4 consecutive years for the Louisiana Marathon weekend in January and couldn’t ask for a better home base for one of our favorite race weekends.

They offer regular pull thru spots with both 30 and 50 amp full hook ups and deluxe with a fire ring and patio space. The campground and bath house are kept clean and there is even a dog park for your furry camping friends.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Beautiful remote location

Located close to Vicksburg, Ms. and on a small man made lake. The area is hilly and has some great hiking trails. The bathrooms are small but do have a shower. Not a lot of room for large RV's so check with them. Water and electric available as well as a dump station.

What to do

Explore historical sites: Natchez is accessible from River View RV Park & Resort, providing a base for visiting antebellum homes and museums. "The staff was super helpful with advice for what to see and where to eat. We will definitely return when the weather is warmer," notes one camper.

Bike along the Mississippi: River View offers a paved riverside trail. "There is a paved walking trail along the river," reports a camper. "Great concrete riverfront walkway" makes this location ideal for cyclists and walkers.

Visit Louisiana plantations: St. Francisville's plantation tours are popular among visitors to Peaceful Pines RV Park. "Wanted to tour southern plantations there in St Francisville, Louisiana," shared a camper who based their historical explorations from nearby RV accommodations.

Observe equestrian activities: Farr Park RV Campground offers unique horse-watching opportunities. "Perfect views of the horses I could watch them all day," writes a camper. The park combines camping with an equestrian center for those interested in horses.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Many campers appreciate the breathing room at Paragon Casino Resort. "This campground has large paved pull through sites with full hookups (electricity, water, and sewage)," writes a reviewer. Concrete pads with grassy areas provide comfortable spacing between neighbors.

River views: Waterfront sites at River View RV Park are highly rated. "We spent a few days at River View RV Park in January, visiting Natchez and enjoying the view of the Mississippi River. The sites were pretty spacious and many have an unobstructed view of the river," notes one visitor. Another mentions, "We would definitely stay here again, had spot 111 at the end with a great view of the mighty Mississippi River."

Clean facilities: Well-maintained shower buildings matter to campers. "Pristine clean private 3 piece bathrooms. Entire park well maintained," reports a River View camper. Even modest facilities get notice when properly maintained.

Off-season value: September through April offers better rates and availability. "Rates were very reasonable this time of year," writes a camper who visited River View in September. "Looks to be off season in Sept and was quiet. Would highly recommend."

What you should know

Variable bathroom quality: Facilities differ dramatically between parks. At Plantation RV Park, one camper reports "Nasty bathrooms with no soap or paper. Super small showers that need updating." Check recent reviews before booking if shared facilities matter.

Noise considerations: Train tracks and highway proximity affect some campgrounds. "Trains come through the night," warns a Maxey Care RV Park camper. Weather can also disrupt stays: "Staff weren't placing anyone in them due to storm & tornado warnings!"

Limited tent camping: Most facilities prioritize RVs with hookups. Though some parks technically accept tents, amenities typically favor motorhomes and travel trailers. Farr Park offers tent sites with electricity, which is uncommon in the region.

Seasonal demand: Fall events create occupancy spikes. "During special events such as the balloon races, these grassy yards are filled with campers also and the spaces are much tighter," notes a River View camper. Call ahead during popular seasons.

Tips for camping with families

Entertainment options: Farr Park RV Campground offers family-friendly activities beyond traditional camping. "There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge," notes a camper. Easy access to educational institutions adds value: "It is only 3 miles from LSU campus."

Casino resorts with kid amenities: Paragon Casino Resort includes family-friendly features alongside adult entertainment. "The casino itself has a movie theater, spa, entertainment venues, an arcade for families, restaurants and a coffeehouse. My boys loved playing the basketball game in the arcade," shares a camper.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Several parks offer animal encounters. "The most amazing thing about the casino (since I am not a gambler) is their lobby. It has live alligators, fish and turtles in there," reports a Paragon visitor. At Farr Park, horses provide entertainment: "Great paths for walking. Perfect views of the horses I could watch them all day."

Playground access: River View RV Park includes dedicated play spaces. "There is a playground, a dog park, pool and hot tub," reports a camper. Research which parks maintain kid-specific facilities.

Tips from RVers

Overnight budget options: When passing through, consider Maxey Care RV Park for economical stays. "We paid $34 for a night with 30amp hookup and water. They have 50amp as well," reports a camper. Basic amenities include "bathrooms with showers and coin laundry."

Check for internet capabilities: Connectivity varies significantly. "Internet was sport. With this many Class A motorhomes and people streaming media the server can't keep up," reports a River View camper. Others note, "Good WIFI signal" at specific sites.

Big rig accommodations: Most parks accept large vehicles with varying ease of access. At River View, "Almost 150 sites, with water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric" accommodate various RV sizes. Another park notes "Sites are laid out with a concrete pad and the grassy space of another camper size spot for a yard."

Dump station logistics: Farr Park has specific challenges at their dump station: "The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level. This creates sags in your hose." Arrive early to avoid lines: "We were at the dump station before 8- only one other unit arrived when we were finishing up."
