The jumping pillow was popular as they spent most of their time there. We enjoyed visiting the llamas...Yes, they have llamas! And we even got to use the zip line," shares Angela H. Clean facilities: Monroe-Toledo North KOA maintains well-kept common areas despite high usage. "Friends and family for a Halloween themed event weekend resulted in lots of fun and good times. The kids stayed busy and made new friends while the adults hung out and had a good time!" reports Mary W. Bathroom facilities are serviced daily.

Beach amenities: Wilderness Campground features a swimming pond with beach area. "Beautiful campground. Very helpful pleasant owners and staff! Great swimming lake although a bit cold as we camped in the fall," mentions Beth G. Beach areas typically include designated swimming zones and nearby picnic facilities.

What you should know

Varying noise levels: Some campgrounds experience more noise than others. At Hayes State Park, "Saturday night was packed with partying campers. Lots of dogs of all varieties, and temperaments. Unless you had a camper with a fan to drown out noise, then getting our kids to sleep would have been very difficult," reports Beth H. Quiet hours typically begin at 10 or 11 pm.

Site spacing considerations: At Wilderness Campground, "New owners in 2019 were very nice and helpful. There is a camp store that has literally everything you can think of needing for camping, and more plus regular food," according to Miranda D. Beach activities: Waterloo Sugarloaf Modern offers a beach area ideal for families. "This campground was what we needed for squirrel hunting, however, it is very open and not very private. It is another one of those 'parking lot campgrounds' where you can see all of your neighbors at all times. That being said, the park was very well kept and quiet at night which was nice," mentions Sarah P.

Seasonal events: Many campgrounds host special weekends during camping season. "I've been going to this campground for years, but mainly for the Halloween camping. It's a fun time of the year to go and the kids always have a blast. Most sites decorate and some site go all out with haunted houses," explains Ryan M. about Monroe-Toledo North KOA. Events typically occur on weekends with activities scheduled throughout the day.

Proximity to attractions: The Irish Hills area surrounding Hayes State Park offers additional family activities. "Very nice, lots to do in surrounding area. Lake is pretty. Nearby MIS. Tips from RVers

Site selection: When booking at Ja Do Park Campground, consider the site layout for your RV. "Lots of fun activities for the kids, hayrides, slip and slide, playground and a whole rustic area to explore while you search for leprechauns. Lots of fun for the kiddos and very friendly people," notes Jenny H. Many sites can accommodate larger RVs, but corner sites typically provide more room.

Hookup availability: Electric hookups are standard at most campgrounds in the area, but water and sewer connections vary. "If your longer than 40ft be aware most sites will not work for you here, they do have some but the wood line, privacy and nature is great," cautions Mano P. about Hayes State Park.

Dump station access: Not all campgrounds have on-site dump stations. "There is no dump station at the campground, but down the road a few miles is a gas station named Yoder's and you can dump for free," shares Stephanie C. about Ted Ranch Campground. Most area dump stations charge $5-15 for non-campers.

Seasonal considerations: RV campers should note when facilities close for the season. "Sites and restrooms were alright, think it is ridiculous to pay extra each night for each pet and children, too many other campgrounds in our area that are more updated and reasonably priced," mentions Nicole A.
