Love this place. We were the only ones there during a weekday visit in October. It’s incredibly peaceful with wooded sites and the lake is just gorgeous with the fall foliage. Bonus that they deliver firewood to the campsite. My only wish and I wouldn’t knock a star off because we were literally the only ones there is I wish they didn’t lock the showers. I would have loved to have a shower but the office was closed and I wasn’t able to find anyone to unlock a shower. Just be prepared and bring your dude wipes 🤣 Other than that amazing place.
I can understand why this place is rated one of the best campgrounds in the country. This was my first time camping here with my own RV and it did not disappoint. Our site was spacious, and centrally located within the campground, they have all the amenities you can imagine living up to that “resort” title. Ranging from multiple pools, hot tubs, courts, pavilions, playgrounds, etc. the cell service was great, they offer WiFi, and much more. I love the store, it gives off that Great Wolf Lodge feel, and it has everything inside you may need. Including a little hidden café that surprisingly made good lattes. This place is massive, and I’ve never seen a campground that had as many million dollar RV’s in one place. That atmosphere is just great here. There is so much to do. It’s so big you need an e-bike just to get around. Resort-style campgrounds like this come at a steeper price compared to others, but in my opinion, Normandy was well worth the cost. We look forward to revisiting, often!
Laundry is clean, bathrooms are clean and showers are hot. Pool, dishwashing station, sometimes quite sometimes very active. Love this place! Wish it was open year round!
We came in the day after Labor Day ~ after 280 rv’s checked out ~ so it may not have been as peaceful over the weekend, but I heard everyone had lots of fun. The grounds are beautiful!
Where does one even begin to explain how great this campground is?! There’s truly a little bit of something for everyone here!
We absolutely loved our campsite. It had plenty of room, a good amount of privacy, and great tree coverage. Even when it rained, our fire pit somehow stayed pretty dang dry, which was a huge plus!
The rec hall was awesome and had so many cool arcade games to check out. They also offer kayak and canoe rentals for the pond, which has surprisingly clear, beautiful water.
One thing that REALLY stood out to us was how incredibly clean the bathrooms and showers were. They were well maintained and practically bug-free, which is almost unheard of at a campground!
On top of all that, everyone we came across—from the staff to the other campers—was super friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth. It just had an all-around great atmosphere.
Seriously, don’t skip over this campground. If you’re on the fence, just book it. You won’t regret it! We’ll definitely be back!
i stayed here in my Class B for an overnight for a concert in Brattleboro. What a surprise! you might figure that being so close to the city, and the highway, it would be somewhat abused, but not so. Very clean and well kept. There are a couple short hikes around, one with a limited view. both are easy level, 100+ ascent. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Dump station very clean and easy access. Noise level, you can hear the highway a little, but not alot. i was here on a Friday night in August, and it was maybe 25-33% full. One unique feature is the adirondack shelters. In pristine condition. Noise is not that much different than campground on secondary roads, honestly. Kudos to Vermont State Parks for their attention.
We’ve been coming to the Northampton, MA KOA for over 6 years now, several times each year, and it continues to be one of our favorite places to camp. There are a few key things that keep us coming back year after year.
First, they do an amazing job keeping our kids busy and entertained. There’s always something going on, which makes it a truly family-friendly campground and allows us parents to relax and enjoy our time as well.
The facilities are always clean, well-maintained, and organized. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping everything in great shape, which makes a big difference in the overall experience.
What really stands out, though, is the management and staff. They are consistently friendly, helpful, and go above and beyond to make sure guests have a great stay. That level of care and attention is hard to find and is a big reason why we remain loyal visitors. This campground may very well be the best Koa that I have ever stayed at.
If you’re looking for a campground that’s clean, family-oriented, and run by an amazing team, this KOA is definitely worth visiting. We look forward to many more years of camping here!
This campground is pretty centrally located with easy access to grocery stores, gas, and the highway. It is down a quiet road far enough that you do not hear any traffic noise. We stayed in one of the lean-to site, Beech. It was spacious, level, and private. The walk to the bath house was a bit hilly, but relatively close. The bath house is older as others have noted, but it is clean. Showers are coin-operated for hot water. And as you'd expect, buggy in July/August. Bring the bug spray!
The Blackstone Valley region surrounding Spencer, Massachusetts features dozens of established campgrounds within a 30-minute drive. Located at approximately 925 feet above sea level, the area experiences relatively mild summers with average July temperatures around 80°F. Most campgrounds operate from April through October, with peak capacity reached during July and August weekends.
Disc golf opportunities: West Thompson Lake Campground offers an on-site disc golf course along with several hiking trails and water activities. A recent visitor noted, "We were able to see some boat races and played a round of disc golf on property. Once the boat races finished each day the camp was very quiet and peaceful."
State park hiking: Wells State Park Campground provides access to multiple hiking trails through wooded terrain. One camper mentioned, "Great little swimming lake as well as a popular hiking trail. If you're looking for a little escape to the woods, this place is it." The park's main trail system connects to the mid-state trail for longer expeditions.
Water recreation options: Multiple ponds and small lakes dot the Spencer region, offering fishing and paddling opportunities. A visitor to Wells State Park noted, "Brand new bathroom/shower facility this year. Offers hiking, biking, swimming, fishing. Nice and quiet also." Several campgrounds rent canoes or kayaks for approximately $25-35 per half day.
Large, level sites: Campers frequently praise the spaciousness at Sutton Falls Camping Area, where sites along the pond provide more privacy. As one visitor described, "We were delighted when we learned we had the little peninsula of site P1 all to ourselves. Stunning views across the large pond, and serving as a wonderful halfway rest/respite on the journey from NYC to Belfast, ME."
Clean facilities: Multiple campgrounds in the region maintain well-kept bathrooms and shower facilities. A Wells State Park visitor shared, "Wells State Park camp grounds recently got new bathrooms and they are so clean! The campsites are a nice size to drive your car up to and still have ample tent/picnic table/fire space."
Waterfront access: Many campgrounds offer direct water access, with Sutton Falls featuring a peninsula camping area. According to one camper, "I can only speak for the camping on this peninsula/land, but the rest of the sites looked cozy, family-friendly, and fun. Cabins and RV sites across the lake, along with beaches for swimming."
Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds fill quickly during summer weekends and require reservations 2-4 weeks in advance. Sites at George Washington State Campground can be reserved up to 6 months ahead, with one camper noting, "Sites were well spaced and provided some privacy depending on your site choice. Grounds were well kept, bathrooms were very clean with hot showers (bring quarters, $1.50 for 6mins)."
Seasonal variations: Many campgrounds operate from mid-April through mid-October, with reduced services during shoulder seasons. Several state parks shut off water to bathroom facilities after the first frost.

Swimming options: Most campgrounds feature designated swimming areas, though water quality varies by location. A Wells State Park visitor commented, "Gorgeous campground. It's red clay instead of sand. I knocked a star because I think the swimming area could be bigger and raked."
Utility connections: Sunset View Farms offers full-hookup sites with modern amenities. A visitor mentioned, "The site was small but a pull thru, no problems at all, full hook up. There is a nice pool just getting ready to open we are here mid, May 14th we leave."
Site leveling: Many campgrounds in the region feature somewhat uneven terrain. A camper at Wells State Park observed, "We booked site #39 online, based on proximity to bath house. No pictures of individual campsites on the booking site, so we were kind of winging it. The site was very un-level, with a steep, narrow driveway."
Gray water disposal: Some waterfront campgrounds restrict black water disposal on-site. A Charlie Brown Campground visitor explained, "Grey dump only due to river so no biggie. Staff was friendly and there was some stuff to do. Good place overall and great price."
