Several RV campgrounds near Middle River offer full hookup options with varying site dimensions, from waterfront pads to pull-through sites suited for larger rigs. Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina in Abingdon offers 91 sites with full hookups including 50-amp service, positioned along the waterfront with gravel pads. "Sites were a little close, but nice. There seemed to be a lot of long term/permanent residents, but most sites along the waterfront remained open," according to one visitor. Cherry Hill Park in College Park features level pull-through sites with 50-amp full hookups on gravel surfaces, accommodating larger rigs with paved parking pads. Camp Meade RV Park in Laurel remains open year-round with big-rig friendly sites and both 30 and 50-amp electrical service, while Aberdeen Proving Ground RV Park provides basic accommodations closer to Middle River.

Navigating into some parks requires careful maneuvering through residential areas. One camper noted, "You have to drive through a residential neighborhood to reach Bar Harbor, so big rigs take care/caution." Most parks maintain gated access for security, with varying levels of amenities from basic to resort-style facilities. Cell service quality fluctuates between locations, with some parks offering free WiFi near office areas but limited connectivity at distant sites. Dump stations are available at most locations, though not all parks provide on-site sewer hookups. Pet policies vary significantly between parks, with some enforcing strict walking areas while others are more lenient. During peak seasons from April through October, advance reservations are essential as waterfront and premium sites fill quickly, especially on weekends.

      Country Acres Campground

      Lovely campground!

Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!

Greenbelt Park Campground — Greenbelt Park

Close to washington as we could get. Could also park our skoolie bus which was nice and had plenty of close by shower with bathrooms. Keep in mind only one shower per restroom house. We stayed at a pretty slow season so it wasn’t bad. Would recommend if visiting DC! They also have a dump station and water fill up.

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

      Old Mill Stream Campground

      Never Again

The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

      Redemption Springs

      Pleasant Stay and Hosts

We stayed at Redemption Springs to get relatively close to Baltimore without bringing our 30ft travel trailer into the city. Seth and the other gentlemen I spoke with were all extremely accommodating. Enjoyed learning about their approach to restorative farming and purchasing a variety of treats at the farm store. Beef, pork, chicken, seasonings, baked goods, and more. We booked on Hipcamp and recommend following his driving instructions. Our rig fit fine by tuhe main barn and they kept an eye on us going in and out to make sure we didn't have issues making any of the turns. Lots of farm life!

      Little Bennett Campground

      Great Potential?

We stayed at Little Bennett starting on Labor Day Monday and left before the weekend, so it is hard to say how this looks when the campground is full of life. They had quite a few activities for families and a pavilion capable of concerts and such, but there was minimal activity during our stay. My biggest complaint is that the gate code changed and we didn't get any notice--so after a long day and a dinner out near Baltimore (nearly an hour away), I had to call the police to get back to my camper. Otherwise, the campsite was relatively spacious and quiet. The bugs were a little rough. Lots of whitetail running around.

      Annapolis MWR Academy RV/Campground

      Great spot for Retirees/Active

If you want to be near Annapolis, right on the Severn River...this is it. About 15 RV spots nestled in the woods...with full hook ups. A couple of primitive spots as well. Just a quick 5 min walk to the river...right across from the Academy. NEX, gas within 10 min walk, and 15 min drive to downtown Annapolis. Staff is always great here, and the park is clean....for a park on the woods.

    What to do

Hiking at Patapsco Valley: Patapsco Valley State Park provides 70 miles of hiking trails for campers staying near Middle River. "We enjoyed hiking the trails directly from our campsite that led us down to the Patapsco River. There is a lot of history associated with the River and the area. You can even swim in this river," according to a visitor at Camp Meade RV Park.

Water activities: The waterfront location of many campgrounds allows for easy access to boating and fishing. "If you like boating, kayaking or canoeing, this is the place!!! Camped here at the end of summer, really loved it. Had our kayaks with us and the water wasn't but a few steps away," writes Janet P. about Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina.

Visit Turkey Point Lighthouse: Located 25 minutes from Middle River, the lighthouse offers spectacular bay views. "There are views of the Elk River from many sites. The Turkey Point Lighthouse is nearby... definitely drive to, and then hike to the lighthouse (open most weekends) the lighthouse and the view are definitely worth it," notes a camper at Elk Neck State Park.

    What campers like

Waterfront camping spots: Sites along the water are consistently rated highest by reviewers. "Beautiful water front sites and good location right off 95. Cute little dock, fishing from your campsite if waterfront and an area to put in small boats or kayaks," writes Casey L. about her experience at Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses are frequently mentioned in positive reviews. "Bathroom was clean, pool was closed...not too many campers but it sure was a nice time," notes one camper at Bar Harbor. At Elk Neck State Park Campground, another visitor mentioned, "The lovely camp host, Carol, kept the bathhouse spotless."

Proximity to attractions: Campers appreciate the convenient access to both natural areas and city amenities. "This is a great park for day-tripping with a very convenient location," says one reviewer about Hollofield Area Campground. Another notes, "The main attraction is the proximity to the tourist sites in Baltimore."

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds experience peak crowds from April through October. "The campground and park fill up on the weekends but are nearly empty during the week," according to one camper at Hollofield Area Campground.

Neighborhood access: Some campgrounds require navigating residential streets. "It's a gated park and nestled at the back of a quiet neighborhood," writes Laure D. about Bar Harbor RV Park.

Cell service variations: Connectivity can be inconsistent between parks. At Thousand Trails Circle M, a camper noted "Excellent cell and gateway service. Cell is AT&T and our gateway is T-Mobile."

Reservation requirements: Most waterfront and premium sites book quickly. "If you camp and want to visit the city, this is a budget conscious way to do so," says one reviewer about staying at Hollofield Area while visiting Baltimore.

    Tips for camping with families

Natural playgrounds: Some parks offer unique play areas beyond standard equipment. "There is a 'natural' playground in the loop, and then if you drive down further to the park entrance, there is a large playground for the kids. I've attached photos from the 'natural playground' aka, large rocks and overturned trees. The kids loved it," writes Jennifer S. about Hollofield Area Campground.

Swimming options: Parks with pools or swimming areas provide relief during hot summer days. "This campground is very family friendly. We saw so many children running around having a great time!" notes a visitor to Cherry Hill Park.

Camp activities: Scheduled events keep children entertained. "Lots of events to keep the kids busy. We happened to be there on the weekend a magician came, my kids loved it. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. Nice playground," according to Leanne B. at Thousand Trails Circle M.

    Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Check specific site measurements before booking, especially for larger rigs. "The actual pads are fairly level but some of the driveways to them are very sloped. Long rigs will have issues in a few of the sites," warns a camper about Elk Neck State Park.

Winter camping preparations: For year-round RV camping near Middle River, be ready for cold weather adjustments. "Weekend was cold but the park was pretty full. This is close to us so it was an easy trip. Full hookup but we're told to turn off and unhook water the night it dropped below freezing," shares Laure D. from a winter camping experience.

Leveling considerations: Many sites require some adjustment for comfortable parking. "Our site was a level full hook up. The road on the FHU loop is narrow and hilly. Our site was uphill and at a difficult angle. Plenty of bigger TTs and 5th wheels were camping," notes Adam and Suzanne B. at Elk Neck State Park.
