The tiny nearby town of Millington has an excellent restaurant (Two Tree) as well as gas station/grill (Tailgate), Dollar General, Food Lion, and laundromat. Milano's and Carletto's restaurants will even deliver right to your camp! The Millington Public pool is less than 5 minutes away.

- There is road noise from the Route 301 bridge. Some days it fades into the background and others it can detract from the peace depending on your tolerance.

Elk Neck State Park is located in Cecil County on a peninsula, formed by the Chesapeake Bay on the west and the Elk River on the east. It makes for great camping near Washington. The park has 2,370 acres of land and includes 250 campsites, 4 youth group sites and 15 cabins. Varied landscapes include marshlands, heavily wooded areas, white clay cliffs, and sandy shorelines.

Elk Neck State Park is divided into four areas. Turkey Point Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of the Elk Neck Peninsula. North East Beach Area and Picnic Shelters is a popular day-use area located in the western portion of the park and features a swimming area, canoe/kayak launch, picnic shelters, picnic tables, and grills. Rogues Harbor Boat Launch Facility offers public boating access to the Elk River, and fishing piers. The Elk River Camping Area is located on the eastern portion of the peninsula and offers over 250 campsites, 15 cabins (9 mini/camper cabins and 6 rustic cabins), a youth group camping area, park store, playground, and a nature center.

The newly-renovated campground offers sites with three-point hookups (water, electric and sewer), as well as four horse campsites without hookups. If you prefer a bed to a bedroll, stay in one of our yurts! These round stationary structures with canvas walls feature a single and double bed bunked together, a double bed-sized futon, an outdoor seating area, and outdoor deck.

Campgrounds at Cape Henlopen, Killens Pond, Lums Pond and Trap Pond State Park are open year-round. The Cottages at Indian River Marina are also open year-round, and the campground at Delaware Seashore State Park is open year-round, although during the winter months, it is open for self-contained units only.

The Division of Parks and Recreation has a Central Reservation Service. Although reservations are not required, we strongly recommend that you make one to ensure that accommodations are available. There is no additional expense to make a reservation.

Reservations can be placed for campgrounds, cabins, yurts, the Cottages at Indian River Marina, and Fort Delaware tours, and Killen's Pond Waterpark..

Lums Pond State Park

The Loose Caboose Campground is a 26-acre campground located in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We are a Second-Generation, Veteran, Family Owned and Operated Campground in the heart of PA Amish Country. Proudly serving Overnight and Weekly Campers for over 35 years. The campground is well-known for its large, secluded wooded sites, yet has the distinction of being located just minutes away from many popular tourist destinations (See “Nearby Attractions”) and special area events (i.e. [Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine](<https://www.strasburgrailroad.com/ride/events/day-out-with-thomas/>), [Annual Rough and Tumble Thresherman’s Reunion](<https://roughandtumble.org/>), Bird-in-Hand Community Days, etc.). We are surrounded by gorgeous Amish farmlands and also offer an excellent view of the passing Amish Buggies and the Amtrak/Norfolk Southern mainline. For this exact reason, part of the campground property was actually used in shooting some of the opening scenes of the 1985 Movie “[Witness](<https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090329/>)” starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. We are proud to be members of the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA), the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), Discover Lancaster and Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau. We have just over 70 beautiful sites, the majority of which offer full hookup utilities. Many of our sites are even open all year round. We are able to accommodate most campers’ needs - having spaces available for everything ranging in size from smaller primitive tent campsites to the largest Big Rigs and Park Model vacation homes. Our heated Bathhouse offers free hot showers and is open to patrons all year round. Limited on-site services (available upon request) include: minor RV repair and troubleshooting, trailer leveling and blocking, winterization and local trailer transport. We are also a children and pet friendly campground. Please contact us directly to inquire about our Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts camping programs for your local Den/Troop activity needs. Our mission is to make your stay here as enjoyable and peaceful as possible. There is so much to see and do in this famous tourist area that you will never be bored. Even if your goal is just to sit around the campfire and have a nice, relaxing, break from the world, we can offer that as well. We would be happy to recommend local area restaurants, activities and attractions for you to visit during your stay with us.
