Campsites are spacious with gravel campsites and paved rv parking at campsites. Water and electric at each site. Clean bathrooms with showers.
This campground is clean and the campsites are decent. However, our campsite had two stumps there were hard to work around when backing up the camper in the dark. If you need to use the showers or bathroom, they never fix anything. One bathroom hasn’t had electric in two years and another women’s bathroom only has hot water in one shower and the hand dryers don’t work.
We have stayed here many times. Very clean campground.the staff is helpful and friendly. The shower and bathrooms have always been clean . Just wish that they had a fenced in dog park
We arrived on a Tuesday and left on Friday. This campground has 10 sites on a hill. It is quiet and away from towns. Some sites are close but not bad. The shower/bath house is fairly new and clean. Being on the hill, to get to the lake is a steep walk. They have a set of steps going down the back side of the hill if you want to leave your boat in the water down there. It’s in a hollow off the main lake. The only drawback would be that the dump site was too tight and unlevel for me to feel comfortable trying to dump.
Location was excellent, close to the water. They have a known power issue, 30amp service went out several times at the pole. Their solution was to use less appliances. There are other campgrounds on the lake that I would choose instead of this one for that reason. The site itself was fine, and if not for the power issues we would come back.
Great spot. Full hook ups at many spots. Sites are in cul de sacs. Lake is beautiful and really close. Staff is super nice and helpful. Nice playgrounds and pools. WiFi is not currently working. AT&T and Verizon service is good. Lots of wildlife around. Nice hiking trails.
Sites are level and pretty spacious, if not some a little tight together. My only complaint was that the restroom wasn’t marked on the map that I could see so I ended up being very far away from it. So more of an issue with recreation.gov than the campground itself. The restroom was nice and clean.
Bathrooms were clean. Campsite was clean. Campground very well maintained. So peaceful!! I have cell service with Verizon. I was able to make & receive calls. Internet signal was not the best, but I wasn't there for that anyway!
If you’re looking for a quiet campground in a semi-rural setting, this is the place for you. No frills, full hookups for 50 amp. No laundry on site and only one local laundromat. Super Walmart and Kroger within 5 or so miles. There’s a lake on-site but requires a medium sized hike downhill and through undergrowth. Shade is at a premium as there aren’t many trees.
We rented a cabin during the off-season and our cabin was cute - very old fashioned. What we found out quickly that was everything was pretty much closed, including the main lodge restaurant that we had hoped to eat at.
The indoor pool WAS open and a pretty decent size. Our kids had a blast romping around in it and the next day we hiked one of the Park trails and were able to do some geocaching, which they loved.
It would be a longish walk to the Lodge pool from the cabins. I don’t know if everyone has a golf cart in the summer, but I imagine it gets packed. There was some really cool larger cabins and at least the section we were in, you had a nice view of the marina.
We found the view of the lakes beautiful and would absolutely go back a bit more during the season to take advantage of the lake activities. I say that even though we found mice droppings in our kitchen - the staff took care of it right away and gave us a partial refund.
The office never seemed to be open. We needed propane upon leaving but couldn’t find anyone. Sites are small, not level and in need of some upkeep. The hookups were poorly placed and the electric hookup was loose. When we plugged in it recessed back into the unit and difficult to plug into. They were to pick up trash at 11 but by putting it b/4 11 I always seemed to miss it.
We arrived at 3 pm on a Friday and stayed 2 night. Have yet to see any employees. Our paperwork was ready and on the board in the front of the building. Sites are roomy, however the roads and sites could use updating. They go from paved to gravel. The laundry room had 3 washers with only 1 working. 2 dryers with only 1 working. We stopped twice for propane but the office door was always locked. They do have a playground for kids and a cute teepee. A small dog park. There was absolutely nothing level on any of these sites.
We had the most amazing time and actually ended up extending our stay here because of how lovely this spot is. Secluded and tucked away along the river. Very clean sites, both back-in and pull-through. Full hookups. They have live music and a food truck on Saturdays. Entry is by card-swipe only, so very safe. Peaceful spot without much noise. Little trail along the river to walk.
Campers beware. We had a family emergency and had to cancel our week at CAMP ON THE KENTUCKY. I gave them almost 3 weeks notice. This is the reply I finally got after a week of trying to get a response. I also sent him hospital discharge papers as proof of the situation.
"Well, as of now, we have a no refund policy so I feel I'm being very generous, that said, our time is not free. I'm sorry for you current situation and I wish you and your family all the best."
As of October 1, 2023 Wilson Creek Campground was closed permanently by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Green River Lake. It is now under the control of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR). Any future opening, for instance, during hunting season, will be determined by KDFWR. After spending a week or so at a commercial campground, it is such a Blessing to be back at a COE campground again! Nestled in the trees near the Cumberland Lake, and dam, this is a beautiful place to relax. We are in spot #71, adjacent to a small field where I saw 7 deer grazing, multiple squirrels near our spot, and beautiful cardinals feeding nearby. This campground provides electric and water at most sites, has two dump stations, level sites with gravel. and the Wolf Creek Fish Hatchery is adjacent to the campground. A great place to visit!
This review is just about the campground not the lake or area surrounding it. The campground sites are ample but nothing special. I'd call them small to medium. Very few trees. Probably not a place I will visit a second time
Overall it’s a very nice, clean campground. We were in A2 and it was a little closer to the road than we expected, and the picnic tables were secured to the ground taking up a good bit of the site for our rug and chairs. The dump stations are a little tricky I felt like but overall a good campground and would go back. Practically no cell service with Verizon or AT&T
Stayed at site 5. We really liked The campground. The old part had plenty of shade the newer part not so much. The new bathhouse was nice. The old bathhouse needs some updating. They were both clean. Hosts were nice and helpful. We will be back.
This is a scam do NOT book with them. Tried to go on a Cumberland River Boat Cruise. Directions given were in accurate, no address was given to use GPS. Google Link given inaccurate Directions. Called several times and even talked to the manager asking for help none was given. River Boat was Gone When we Finally Found the Boat Ramp. Drove to the Office to request a voucher or refund. Would NOT give either one. People were not helpful at all DO NOT waste your money. We lost$120 to them due to the businesses own fault. They did NOT offer options for people with disabilities, We even asked for a 1/2 of a refund and they would NOT even do that as they said we made lunch for you. How much can a sandwich and chips cost. If they were kind people and did what Jesus would do they would have gladly refunded even 1/2 of the money paid Do NOT support a company that doesn’t support people with disabilities nor are they Christian at all. What happened to having manners. If they would refund our money we would delete this entire post.
We had a great time there. Some sites can be small so do your research. It was nice and quiet in the area we were in. The bathhouse was nice and clean and all the workers were very friendly.
Nice lakefront sites in this campground. Access to the water is not so great. You have to go down steep inclines between campgrounds. I did find a picture of steps going down between two sites, but I must have missed it when we were there. I stayed on site #6. It had room to back my motorhome (37ft) into with barely enough room to park our truck sideways in front of the site. We parked our boat trailer at the ramp and left our boat in the water below our site. We didn't use the bathhouse, but heard it was okay. There should be a warning sign that when you get to the bottom of the hill coming in, there will be a sharp turn left into the campground. If you miss it, you will be in the ramp parking. It was very quiet during the week, but the weekend got pretty crowded and a little loud during the day. It has a public picnic area and a beachy area that the locals use. We swam there also. It has a nice little playground. Bike riding would be okay, but rather hilly. The biggest drawback would be the dump station. The switchback turn at the top of the hill to get to it was too daunting for me to try. We started to try and backup the hill, but the shoulders were drop offs and narrow road. I didn't chance it. Brought it home to dump.
Not able to camp in open field. 1000$ fine for doing so. Camping at trailhead or on road side is fine.
We stayed for 6 nights on 2 sites, right next to the bath house. Laundry was free and on the back of the bath house (2 washers, 2 dryers). Bath house was clean. Showers were on a timer (60 seconds at a time, two levels/ pressures, one temperature, you get what you get and don’t pitch a fit). Lots of ticks but that was expected. Sites are good sized.
The campsites are off to thereselfs and make for great camping with privacy. The drive there is a little long and no cell service for the most part but isn't that what camping is about anyway.
Love sandhill RV camp but the groundskeeper there is very rude and Inconsiderate to others. His job is one that should be treated as a privilege but he acts like he hatea it so bad that his ol lady getting beat when he clocks out for the day
I had the only tent site. It was adequate but many stares up and down. No water no electricity. Bathrooms were clean, campground was clean and quite. There is a snack shack outside the gate and they have bait. Good fishing lake and river.
