ScoutWe needed a spot near Mammoth Cave National Park (which was full). This small City Park in the town of Munfordville, only 25 miles away, fit the bill perfectly. The phone number connects you to their City Hall - they asked for the make, model, color and license plate number of our vehicle (so their police officer would know we belonged there), and told us spots are available on a "first come" basis but are almost always available. In our case, we were the only ones there on a Friday summer night.
The park is delightful: it's by a river, surrounded by trees, and has a paved path circling soccer and disc golf fields, a playground, and four pickleball courts. There also is a 4-mile trail. All of the day users left by 9 pm, and then we had the park to ourselves. It was a very quiet spot.
Access to the park is via a short one-lane road that has some very tight curves. The overnight spots aren't really set up for RVs - those also are accessed via tight turns and there isn't an adequate turnaround space at the end of the access road -- I parked in a spot knowing that I would have to back my 23' trailer down the access road in order to get to back to a larger parking lot area. For smaller RVs and trailers, camping here is manageable and recommended.
TravelerWe wanted to go to see Mammoth Caves, but the tours were already booked out. So we were searching for a night to camp. I called and Beth answered our call. Very sweet Lady. We chose spot 1. Bathrooms/showers are ok . $44/night
LegendPeople here were kind and trustworthy. People were charging their power stations unattended in the bathrooms. We were given extra wood by our neighbors. Other neighbors notified us when they saw us leaving stuff behind (just wood).
The bathrooms have a cool log cabin-like window at the top. There are trails that leave the campground. Fireflies are great at night. Frogs are singing in the evening. Tons of trees and shade.
Only downside is maybe the camp store closes really early. I think maybe 5? By the time we got there our first day it was closed, so my son was bummed we couldn’t have a fire.
GuideWe had reservations for a cave tour dec22. We didn't stay at the campground. We parked our 40ft skoolie in the parking lot of the visitors center and slept there for 2 nights. Thanks to the park ranger who didn't make us leave and told us to enjoy our visit!
GuideHelpful and over-the-top nice office staff. We arrived early and they made room for us. First site was a concrete pad, we were assigned a different site when our original reservation was scheduled, but we went to office to say it was too unlevel for us. They kindly found us a spot that was great.

I did not use the shower or restrooms here, so can’t really say much about those. (Since most campers these days have these)
It is a large campground and my one and only complaint/suggestion is the area where my camper was set had grass in desperate need of attention. This could and should be a really nice place with just a bit more attention.
The staff at check in were exceptionally friendly and drove us to our site.
