Louisville North Campground

Just across the Ohio River from downtown Louisville, Louisville North Campground operates as a compact RV park on a gravel lot in Clarksville, Indiana. The facility accommodates RVs up to 60 feet with full hookups, though maneuvering requires skill due to tight spacing between sites. An on-site gas station provides propane and fuel directly adjacent to some camping spots.

Railroad tracks run directly behind the property, with freight trains passing throughout the night. Multiple campers note the proximity and volume of train noise, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours. Sites near the tree line along the tracks offer more privacy than those in the open center area. The campground functions primarily as an overnight stop for travelers, with a mix of short-term visitors and longer-term residents in older RVs.

The laundry facility features six washers and dryers at competitive rates. Shower facilities receive mixed reports, with some campers experiencing water temperature and pressure issues. "Shower was dirty water never got hot," reports Ronika P.. The restroom conditions vary, with cleanliness concerns noted in some reviews.

Cyclists can reach downtown Louisville attractions directly from the campground. For RV travelers seeking more spacious sites with better separation, Market Street Inn provides an alternative less than a mile away.

Many campers appreciated the convenient Louisville location and friendly staff, with excellent laundry facilities. However, several reviews noted major concerns about extremely close site spacing and loud train noise throughout the night.

Small campground

Small campground. Good for transient campers. A lot of full timers and campers that are older than 10 years. Office and women’s bathroom smelled like cat pee otherwise women’s bathroom was clean.

Koa Jeff

Friendly . Shower was dirty water never got hot. The woman told us we couldn't hook up our water cuz it wasn't pressure at site. That we needed go buy a px to put on water hookup . Which I never have to have at other sites. It cost more than motel does..

Site39 or 38 pretty sure was 39 at Koa north Lou which isn't in Louisville it's in Indiana.

When people say tight

They mean it here. Wouldn’t classify this as a campground at all. We have never stayed in a place that the spaces were this close. I thought about saying all the facts, but If you read any reviews they are all spot on!! We have a 41’ Class A towing and I don’t think we would fit of any bigger. Someone else said that you have to be skilled to drive here..and they were right!!

Great location. We were able to get to Louisville and the surrounding area in no time. Even on bikes. Staff were great. Baths were good. Park across the street was ok. There is a family of skunks on the front of the park, not sure where they live, but they roam every night. Beware!!

We heard the train, it’s super close and loud, but of course it only runs at midnight and 2 am.

We would stay for the location if visiting the area. When they say there is a gas station, our rig is across the driveway from it. If you’re looking for something more traditional, this is not the spot.

Decent

Has full hook ups, we got a spot by the tree line where the trains are. They really aren’t that bad and those are the best spots on the property everyone else seems exposed

TRAINS. ALL. NIGHT. LONG.

OMG, the trains. All night, every night. I'm a heavy sleeper and it sounded like the trains were going to crash into our RV and we were across the row from them. Staff is very nice, nice laundry and close proximity to Louisville. Unfortunately, the sites are just gravel and literally on top of each other. I could sit on my picnic table facing my camper and lean against my neighbors rv.

Place to stay close to downtown Louisville

If you are looking to be close to downtown Louisville, this is the campground for you. The staff was super nice and the location is very convenient for getting downtown. It's basically just a parking lot. Also, there is a train that runs behind the campground all night long. Keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper! There is a gas station on site which made filling up propane and gas super easy. The laundry was amazing - cheap and 6 washers and dryers. I was able to get completely caught up on laundry! We rode bikes to downtown Louisville from here and had a great afternoon. There are also neat places to go on the Indiana side of the river. All in all, we had a great stay and if we are ever in the Louisville area again we would gladly stay here for the convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there photos available to view of Louisville North Campground before booking?

Yes, photos of Louisville North Campground are available online before booking. These images typically show the gravel sites, hookup connections, and layout of the campground. The photos give you a good idea of what to expect - a functional RV park with sites arranged fairly close together. Some photos may show the tree line area and the market on-site. Viewing these images before booking is recommended to set appropriate expectations, as this is primarily a utilitarian RV park rather than a scenic camping destination.

How does Louisville North Campground compare to other campgrounds in the area?

Louisville North Campground's main advantage is its convenient location for accessing downtown Louisville. It's more of a functional RV park than a traditional campground, with sites arranged close together on a gravel lot. The proximity to train tracks is a significant consideration, as nighttime train noise is noticeable. While staff friendliness is a plus, the campground lacks the scenic or natural setting found at other area campgrounds. It's best suited for travelers prioritizing location and full hookups over ambiance or spaciousness.

What amenities and facilities are available at Louisville North Campground?

Louisville North Campground offers full hookups for RVs, including water, electric, and sewer connections. The facility includes an on-site market where campers can purchase supplies. Laundry facilities are available and maintained in good condition. Sites are set on gravel and arranged fairly close together. The campground is designed primarily for RVs rather than tent camping, with a focus on providing necessary utilities rather than recreational amenities. While not scenic, it provides the essentials needed for a comfortable stay when visiting the Louisville area.

How much does it cost to stay at Louisville North Campground?

Specific pricing information isn't detailed in the available data. As a full-hookup RV park near Louisville with amenities like a market and laundry facilities, rates are likely competitive with other urban-adjacent RV parks. For current and accurate pricing information, it's best to contact Louisville North Campground directly or check their official website. Rates may vary based on site location, seasonal factors, and length of stay.
