Sitting in a low bowl near Otter Creek and a stocked fishing pond, Camp Carlson Army RV Park operates year-round on Fort Knox land outside Muldraugh, Kentucky. The geography that keeps the campground quiet also kills cell signal. Multiple reviewers flag the near-total lack of coverage as something to plan around, with one visitor relying on Starlink to stay connected. Those expecting WiFi should note that while it is listed as an amenity, reviewers consistently report it as unreliable or unavailable, though fiber connections to individual sites were reportedly in progress as of early 2026.
Sites are level and include full hookups with electric, water, and sewer. Roads through the campground are paved. The pond is stocked with fish regularly, and Otter Creek runs alongside the property, giving anglers two options without leaving camp. Bathrooms and laundry facilities draw consistent praise for cleanliness, with coin-operated washers and dryers on site. The campground does not allow pets. RVs are capped at 25 feet, though a few pass-through sites accommodate larger rigs.
Access to the Fort Knox commissary and other base amenities is straightforward for eligible visitors. The campground runs low on crowds during off-season months, and the sites have reasonable spacing for an established military RV park. "Otter Creek runs next to camp as well as a small stocked lake for fishing," notes Jim C., summing up the water access that draws many repeat visitors. Campers wanting more options in the region can browse camping spots around Fort Knox, or consider Otter Creek Park Campground for a nearby alternative.
