    Scenic Park

    very friendly

Scenic park is across the Missouri river from Sioux City,  Iowa.  It is easy to get to. Very friendly staff.  Restrooms are kept clean.  It is a large campground with several different restrooms with showers.  There is a number of permanent campsites, there is also some that can be reserved.  Some are also pull thru's. Ice and firewood are available on site.  There  is a separate area available for tents. With it being  on the edge of South Sioux City, Ne and across the river from Sioux City, Ia. there is lots of shopping options close by.  It can also be reserved for groups, with a shelter available for use.  There are some sunny spots and also spots with lots of shade.  I really like this campground!

Browns Lake Bigelow Park Woodbury County Park

    Beautiful Park, June 2019

This is a beautiful park, well maintained, quiet and borders Browns Lake 10 Miles from Sioux City. CG has horse shoe pits, Basketball, volleyball courts, playground for the kids and a swimming beach. Newly constructed Handicapped ramp to fishing jetty and nice big fishing/boat dock that is at the rear of the CG. Restrooms/showers were newer, modern and spotless and also served as a tornado safe shelter. 4 individual shower rooms+ 4 individual/private toilet, sink, shower rooms handicapped accessible. All sites are 1st come 1st serve. Water at each site. We came in mid Friday and there were several sites available with one site still available lake side which we took. Numerous trees and sites are spacious. CG did not fill over the weekend which was a surprise considering that this CG was very nice. Have camped for 12 years and been to a number of CGs and never have had a State Park CG to have its own Wifi but his one did. Ice, bait and soft drinks available by host site. Shelter available for rental. Sioux City is only 10 miles away. This park is a gem. We camped at Bigelow Park/Brown's Lake in a Travel Trailer.

    Scenic Park

    Great spot close to everything

We found the Scenic Park RV Campground when we were looking for a spot to stay close to Sioux City, IA for a sports event for our sons. We were extremely happy with this city run campground.

The pads are in great shape. They offer full hookups. We did not have a full hookup site, but still had water, electric, and free cable tv. The view from our camper of the Missouri River and the Sioux City skyline was pretty great.

The staff is friendly and welcoming. The location is quiet and everyone staying there seemed very nice as well. Will definitely be back when we’re up that way again next year.

    Scenic Park

Perfect for 1 nite OR a long stay!

Sites are easy to park in. Plenty of trees and grass. Some noise from train and city, but very bearable. Easy access from and to Sioux City and highway. Office folk accommodating, helpful, and there for you .

Lewis and Clark State Park Campground

    Clean & kid friendly

Well kept & family friendly camping in Iowa! We were able to reserve an electric unit (#30) right off the lake and across the road from the large playground (~5 setups for different age groups). We could watch the kids play while getting food ready or preparing a line to throw in the water. Short walk to the very clean restrooms with flush toilets & showers. Will come back!

    Stone State Park Campground

    Busy

Stone State Park, Sioux City, Iowa

End of a not to long day driving across Iowa......corn, lotsa corn! We stopped at Dolliver Memorial State Park for a hike about midday, it looked a bit better taken care of then Stone SP.

This is basically a small primitive campground with electric added to some sites. Not horrible for an overnight....

First impression.....I considered getting back on the road. The people that I saw in the meager campground looked somewhat homeless. No offense and they do need to stay somewhere however they could also keep their areas decluttered and detrashed. There was a family staying on the far side of the ditch that seemed to be camping.

There was constant vehicle traffic around the small loop my site was on, they seemed to have no purpose other then to stare. The campground shower house was used by whomever felt like using it which also added to the traffic.

After Maquoketa Cave SP this is a disappointment. The trails were overgrown and the map was not easy to orient. I only explored so far so I may have missed the cool stuff that signifies this park. There was sketchy coverage for your phone so I couldn’t pull up Alltrails, make sure to download before You drive in.

Riverfront Campground — Ponca State Park

    Missouri River camping

They have a lot of different sleeping options, from tent to hotel-like cabins. We went a long time ago when it was just tent sites. Some were along the river but most are back in the forest. Aside from the river, there are trails and a pool. Friends have said there are many very recent additions including rock climbing walls, archery, horseback riding, etc. The charm of the area is still there: riverfront views, rolling hills, simple trails through nature. Many other small parks along the whole river nearby, plus a full golf course and Sioux City. Perfect for a road trip stopover or a long weekend for locals.

    Laurel City Park

    Bathroom was disgusting

The women's restroom was filthy. Was going to stay here but decided not to give one toilet was clogged and filled with #2. Didn't bother to look at the second one given the state of the first and the floor. The park itself looked pretty nice and the price is super cheap....guess they don't use the funds to have the restrooms cleaned. Keep driving, there are more city parks further west to stay at or Sioux City to the east is another option depending on your direction of travel.
