Snyder Bend County Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Snyder Bend County Park sits within Snyder Bend Park, managed by the Woodbury County Conservation Board along the Missouri River floodplain near Salix, Iowa. The campground runs from May through October, with sites that face open terrain near a lake, and campers arriving without a reservation can self-check-in any time before 10 p.m. Access has a rough character, so leveling blocks are worth keeping handy.

Sites here have noticeable spacing between them, and multiple reviewers mention the quietness as a consistent feature of overnight stays. Lake-facing sites are available on a first-come basis, and a lakeside walking trail gives campers a way to stretch their legs in the evening. Note that the lake has been drained during past visits, so the water view may vary depending on conditions. Mosquitoes tend to be active at dusk, particularly in summer months.

Each site includes a fire pit, electric hookup, and water connection, with a bathhouse on-site providing showers. The campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet and has a dump station. Rates run $17 to $25 per night depending on hookup type. Ann W. notes that "lake facing spaces available if not already taken," so arriving early matters if waterside positioning is a priority. Gravel cyclists have also flagged the area as a useful base. The campground works well for RV travelers and tent campers wanting a low-key stop with full hookups at a reasonable nightly rate.

Spacious, green, quiet. Just not level

This was a restful stop. Sites had plenty of space between and it was very quiet. There’s a nice long sidewalk for an evening stroll. The lake was drained but the views were still nice. For $25, you can’t beat that!

Plan on using your leveling blocks. The wifi is just there to tease you—no internet.
