Partially shaded spots in central IL

Good spots with easy access to hiking trails and lake. Better in winter, spring, and falls months.

Awesome place loaded with fun

This is an awesome place to go has lots of things to do including on-site keep tours of two different caves and an on-site winery as well as gift shop. Very short distance from historical downtown sights.

Free river side camping.

Primitive camping on the Mississippi River. This is mostly a wide gravel bar that you can set up camp on with great views of the big river. But there are no amenities, and few sites. The road through the campground is nicely graded and there is obviously some work being done to restore the flora-…

Another great Army Corps of Engineers campground

I think these campgrounds are definitely under rated. This one is well maintained and clean. The sites are all paved and most are well spaced.

My only concern is the photos of the sites are a bit deceiving. I thought my site, #6, was dead level. While it was level side to side, it had about 6" of…

Good enough for an overnight

No frills camping on the edge of the fairgrounds, there are campsites mostly for RV’s (full hook ups- 50 amp and 30 amp, and sites with sewer), and space for tents on the margins (might be why tent “sites” are free). The bathhouse was locked when I passed through, and no one was camping here, but…

Incredible campground!

All I can say of this fairly new campground is WOW! Tent sites in the trees with river views, water/electric at all of the RV pull thru sites, on site dump station, cute cabins in a variety of sizes, great hammocking trees, and a super clean bathhouse. If that is not enough, there is a coffee bar…

Nice place

Took our new camper out for a one night stay. It’s a nice small place with a nice little pond. The only real complaint we had was that there was no lights in the bathrooms, we didn’t want to use the campers bathroom for just one night. There were other bathrooms but they were locked. $20 a night…

Friendly,clean,quiet

John, the owner was accessible, friendly and accommodating. The showers and bathrooms were meticulously clean as was the campgrounds with large pull thrus. Each had fire rings. There is a laundry room. Kid and dog friendly. Playground. Dog walk. We stayed over Easter weekend and had a great…

Constant Returner

I’ve been going to this campground since I was a child, it’s one of my favorite places to camp. A popular place, during the summer it’s always full and kids running around, people walking and running and riding bikes, walking dogs. Great trails too, ranging from half a mile to 3 miles. Nice lakes,…

Simple, everything you need.

Bathrooms/Showers are decent. Maintained nicely. Can be quite loud when full.

Wait for the improvements

First thing, the new owners have some work pending that I trust will make a huge difference to the traveling campers soon. However, we didn’t get to enjoy those improvements.

The good: The reservation process was friendly and they accommodated our after hours arrival. The electrical connections…

Safe and Secluded

We camped during Covid so the swimming beach and playgrounds were closed but everything else was great! Nice big lots, everyone has full shade. Each loop has a big bathroom with massive showers. One of our showers even had a handheld nozzle! And each loop has their own dumpster.

This…

Our first night out

Our first night out in our new travel trailer. Very impressed with the park when it was supposed to be closed. They extended their season because the weather was so good. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. We'll be staying here again sometime in the future.

Great time

Had an excellent time, good views of the lake and not many people. Campsites were decent and the shower/toilet facilities too.
