Nice place to stay

We stopped here as we were heading east. Nice lakes plus swimming and boating facilities. We stayed by Wakonda Lake in sn oversized site with steps leading down to a little beach. Camp host ssid years ago it used to house a duplex cabin but was flooded out in 1997. Full hookup and small bathhouse with 2 baths and showers. Nice and quiet snd convenient to the highway . Would stay again

A Place No One Wants To Leave

GREAT weekend! Vast sandy beach, volleyball net and sidewalk width concrete pathway to the water. Spacious CLEAN showers, bathrooms easy for littles to be big and do it on their own, push button style showers stop risk of being burned complete with final pull chain for those sandy feet. Stand alone grated grills, add coals or wood easy clean up. Quiet sleeping ability a stone's throw from water if you choose, I cannot wait to go again! 12 hour boat/kayak rentals ice chest life vests and friendly helpful office personell that don't hover your vacation. AND a large playground! Only downside not any shade at camping sites, bring a big canopy :)

Wakonda State Park

Very quiet state park. The sites are very large and our rv site has a cement pad. It makes for an easy setup. We have a water view. Great for fishing. There are also full hookups. There's a playground and boat access and swimming.

Convenient stop

Looking for an overnight stay on a long road trip. Park is close to highway, fairly empty on a Monday night. Easy pull through site close to lake. Quiet. Bathhouse nothing fancy, could have been cleaner. Easy access to dump station. Staff very friendly.

Great Campground with Lots to Do

There are two camp grounds with a range from rustic to full hookups. 3 lakes for boating, paddling, fishing, or just a scenic hike. Staff is friendly and the place is clean.

Nice and clean

The concrete slab was large enough for our camper and rug along with the picnic table! A lot of room! The BBQ was nice and the fire pit had a built on grill as well. Our pad was close to the lake so a two minute walk and we’re fishing!

Our family favorite

We have been to Wakonda twice and really enjoyed the RV parking area. There is plenty of space to spread out, the hookups are well maintained, and the bath house is also kept up. The small lakes don't allow motors over 9hp so they is not much nose to be concerned with. Each parking site has steps down to the lake for bank fishing. There are also John boats and kayaks for rent. Finally, there is a sandy beach for swimming. The rates are very cheap as it is a state park.

Greaf lake, hikes, and overall adventure!

Had numerous interconnected hiking trails that follow the lakes in the area. They often have kayaks available and occasionally have paddle board classes there through the local YMCA. Campground has hook up and concrete spots, but lacks shade and feel of a campground. Limited space!
