Ray Behrens Recreational

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Situated along the shores of Mark Twain Lake in northeast Missouri, Ray Behrens Recreational is a US Army Corps of Engineers campground running from late March through mid-November. Sites are asphalt-paved with gravel picnic areas, and the campground accommodates rigs up to 65 feet with electric, water, and sewer hookups available. Full hookup sites are limited, though, and several campers have noted they wish there were more of them.

Cleanliness is one of the most consistent observations across reviews. Bathrooms and the shower house are maintained regularly, and the campground hosts are described as friendly and responsive. Sites tend to be large, level, and straightforward to back into, which makes setup relatively easy for RV travelers. Some motorhome owners report difficulty finding a level site, so arrival timing matters if that's a concern. Shaded spots are available, and hiking trails within the campground connect to the lake.

Water access is worth understanding before arrival. Mark Twain Lake has sharp drop-offs along its banks, with no beach or designated swim area at this campground. Campers with boats will have an easier time getting on the water. A marina nearby includes an ice cream shop and a spot where kids can feed fish. Phil W. notes the campground is "well kept" with bathrooms "cleaned regularly," and an amphitheater hosts ranger programs on some evenings.

Nightly rates run $18 to $30, reservations are accepted, and pets are allowed. Campers looking at campgrounds near Perry will find this among the more fully equipped options in the area. Those wanting a group-oriented setup might also consider John C. Briscoe Group Use roughly a mile away, or Frank Russell Campground a bit further northeast.

Visitors often highlighted well-maintained sites and clean facilities at this Army Corps campground. Many mentioned the beautiful lake setting with hiking trails, though families noted swimming limitations due to deep water and drop-offs around the shoreline.

So many well separated sites to choose from .

Fall visitors to this area and found a gem. Price is reasonable, sites are asphalt with rock picnic areas. Only drawback is finding a level site if you are in a motor home. Well worth the effort and highly recommend this area!

Awesome spot!

This is an Army Corps spot which are our favorites to stay in. Sites were large, level and easy to back into. Facilities were clean. There is a marina with an ice cream shop and the kids can feed the fish. We found a few trails that led to the lake which was a lot of fun. The only downside is that there was no place to swim. All in all, we really liked Ray Behrens!

Great Campground

Ray Behrens has great camping sites. I just wish they had more full hookup sites.

Great for Boaters!

This is a really well kept campground. The sites are beautiful, the shower houses are clean. The lake is beautiful...if you can see it. We have five sons and one of our musts for a campground is easily accesible water to play in. This is NOT the campground for that. This is a man-made lake and there are sharp drop offs all the way around. It was SO hot when we stayed and we couldn’t get to the water. And we had to find something else to entertain our littles. They did have a fun program at the amphitheater. If we had a boat and the kids were older we might go back but probably not, I really prefer having a beach.
