Sugarloaf Campground — Lake Cascade State Park

Scenic Campsites Just North Of Boise, Idaho. A Nice Quick Getaway!

Lake Cascade State Park has some beautiful scenery from any of the sites you stay at. There is tent and RV camping in the area. I suggest reserving a site far in advance because they fill up quick. The lake freezes over in the winter time, but if you are willing to rough it in cold weather, there are some sites available. Call before you head to the lake. There are several activities you can do at this campground, from fishing, boating, sailing and Moutain biking. Some sites have full hook-ups and there is a dumpstation for RVs. There are some ADA sites as well as group and Yurt camping. This campground is for everyone! From those willing to rough it to those who are into "glamping" :-)

    Weekend trip

We decided to take a weekend trip to this hot springs for our maiden voyage in our new travel trailer. The site was exceptionally clean as well as all facilities, to include restrooms. The staff were eager to help and provide the history of the hot springs. There are few RV hookups, so if you choose to go reserve in advance as well as reserving slots for the pool or hot tub, they only allow 25 people on the pool for 1 1/2 hour increments so it's not cramped. I definitely recommend this place and will go again myself.

    Not for big trailers.

Ok campground with bathrooms. But beware it is not for 30' or bigger trailers. Rv spots are on the small side and you will not be able to get a large trailer turned around. The turnaround loop road at the end is too tight. I had the unpleasant experience of having to back my 37' trailer all the way out to te main highway. Fifth wheels may be able to make the loop but the rv spaces are rather small. No way you could leave a vehicle hooked up and not block the road.

    Lake cascade has it all

at 47 square miles lake cascade has it all. It is a beautiful upland lake that is warm enough to swim in all summer long and deep enough to have some serious fishing if you bring our boat. there are 10 campground units spread around the lake. I have stayed in 5 of those. On the west side of the lake you have huckleberry, which is shaded from the brutal afternoon sun due to being at the foot of west mountain and about 2 minutes from Tamarack ski resort. It has water, but no electricity or sewer for trailers. the beach is sandy and very nice. Poison Creek is farther south on the west side of the lake. This is a very nice trailer camp with W/S/E. The showers are awesome there too. On the north east side of the lake is sugarloaf. if you are camping it will be very hot during the summer. The swimming area and boat launch is worth the heat though. If you are coming up for the day I would stop there. Right in the town of cascade is ridgeview campground. This is a full service camp with wide and deep trailer spaces. If you are glamping this is the place to go. 2 minutes to the diner in town and wifi. The beach here is great and the views are really awesome. Just across the bay from ridgeview is the first come first serve crown point. there is community water and pit toilets but the beaches are granite outcroppings are great. I highly recommend lake cascade. And at 70 miles from Boise it can be a day trip.

A prime spot to camp in McCall. Plan ahead and book early. Great campsites with full hook ups and amenities. Much to do around McCall, yet this campground is good for resting and enjoying the outdoors. Great shade and lots of room to play. Beaches are within walking distance.

The Best RV Campsite in McCall, Idaho!!!

We reserved a spot here to prepare for a rafting trip we had won from the McCall WinterFest. We are so glad we did!!! This place ROCKS! We have a 27' Travel Trailer RV and we reserved a full hook-up site. The staff was friendly and we were escorted the staff to the site we reserved. The location is nice and quiet, awa from traffic. They have a nice lodge with an indoor heated swimming pool. Each site had a picnic table but no fire pit where we stayed. We had a portable grill to cook our meals. The property is very clean and the staff is ver friendly. Can't ask for anything more!

    Mature trees. Lots of shade

There are new owners for 2023 season. They are working on improving the park's services and amenities. The park has mature trees providing ample shade throughout the day. Most sites have a concrete patio and grassy area. The photos on their website provide an accurate description of the Motel and park. We were on the Main Street side of the RV park. There is a wee bit of road noise during the day. It is quiet at night. There are a number of sites occupied by folks staying for the summer. Made reservations for the week of 4th July. Everyone working at the RV Park was very friendly and helpful. The camp host and Maintenance person, Steve was especially helpful. We pulled into RV Park and discovered the coach had developed a short that tripped the power pedestal breaker. Steve played a major role in locating and helping me fix the shorted wire run. Our stay would have been ruined without his help. Next time I stay in the area, this will be my first choice of places to stay. We camped at Alpine Lodge and RV in a Motorhome.

Wifi is available. Verizon was 2-3 bars on phone.

    Perfect for families

We love Deadwood. It’s far enough that it’s not overly crowded. Most camp spots have sandy beach access and feel private. I like that I can reserve a spot so I know there’s room for my camper trailer.

    Near outdoor activities

This motel/rv site is a great jumping off point for rafting, hunting and fishing!  It has a pool which is great because it gets really hot in the summer.  The RV parking is in back of the motel so its not very scenic right there, but the surrounding area makes up for it.

    Beatififul gem!

Found deep in the Boise Forest, this senic gem is perfect for a night or week stay. Every camp sight has a perfect view of the reservoir. You can bring your boat, fishing poll, and hiking boot, because there is plenty of fishing and trails! The sunsets are absolutely beath taking! But the most beautiful view is watching the storms rolling in, no I'm not some crazy thrill seeker. They are just stunning to watch come and there is no words to describe them! This places does offer clean water and outhouses. Most of the roads to get up there are dirt, please be advised scotts bluff is the more extreme road to get up there. If you have a camper trailer i would advise taking anyother route but Scotts. Please pack out whatever you pack in and leave this beautiful place gorgeous for the next camper!! Keep camping my camping freinds!

Great Trout Fishing - Summer and Fall Months :-)

This is a dry campground with no hook-ups for RVs. They do have restrooms and potable water around the campgrounds. It's pretty much first-come, first-serve basis. We were able to find 2 spots (group campsite) where we parked our 27' Jayco Travel Trailer and our friends were able to park and pitch 2 tents around us. The surroundings were really nice at the time we went. The reservoir water level was on the low side so the boat ramps for the reservoir were out of the water. We were told that they had drained the lake the year before and it is filling back up again. They have been stocking it with trout and did we experience the benefits of that! We had our kayaks with us and were able to troll around to catch our limit for dinner on both nights :-) It was nice and quiet in the evenings as well. There is a near by boy scout camp down the road on the dam side. It was far enough so that we did not bother them or they did not bother us :-) I would camp here again!

Nice campsite off the beaten path

Really nice campground a short drive from the lake. Site has nice sturdy picnic tables, BBQ stand and fire pit. The bathrooms were nice and clean vault toilets. There are hand pump water stations spread pretty far apart, but there nonetheless. The road and drive spurs are gravel, but nice and not too dusty. People were pretty good about driving slow around the loop which was nice. The camp host is “volunteer” it says on their golf cart, and we never even spoke to them in 3 days. The post on our site didn’t even have our name as the occupant for the weekend, and never even came by and asked us our name. I can see how some people had issues with someone being in the spot that they had paid for and reserved. Just no due diligence from the camp host. We didn’t get a single mosquito bite, and although the sites are close together, it’s not really any closer than most RV parks/campgrounds. We will be back.

Dense Forest Camping with our RV

We were able to find an open RV spot in the middle of the week at this campground. Normally, weekends are booked solid but they do have some first come first serve sites available. You just have to check the Reservation site for campgrounds. We were able to find the perfect site, nestled in the trees, away from other campers. It was nice and quiet. They do not have hook ups so it is pretty much dry camping. They do have restrooms and potable water around the campgrounds. The roads are nicely paved and the sites are labeled. If you reserved a site on-line, they will have your name on the site when you arrive :-) I loved that I was able to ride laps around the campgrounds with my bike as well as walk a few laps around as well :-) The fishing was great for us. Some spots were pretty weedy. You just have to find the open spots to fish for trout. They do not have firewood here, but they have firepits and a picnic table at each campsite. We definitely enjoyed our stay here and would camp here again!

    Great little hot springs campground

This is a very well run campground and hot springs near Emmett Idaho. The staff is very on top of things and keeps the place very clean and orderly. We visited during COVID and they really worked things out safely and smartly. They have only a ten RV spots. They are a full service park, but don't have a store that I know of. There's a cool little local market just a mile down the road. Also, a restaurant is very close by. Its called "the triangle". Interesting decor. The food is pretty good on the whole. They usually have great pie. We've been here a couple times and enjoy the facility.

    Quiet, spacious campground

The sites are spaced far apart and very spacious. Campground host is great and the campground is clean. There are a few pull throughs which make it easy for RVs. The beach at the lake is lovely. Site #7 backs up to a large beach area. The campground is convenient to Donnelly and McCall, and quite close to Tamarack Resort (7 minutes), if you are riding there. In fact all the State Park campgrounds in this part of the lake are very convenient to Tamarack. We enjoyed our quiet stay here!

    Summit Lake Campground

    Quiet spot

This is a pretty quiet place! It about an hour drive/17 miles from Cascade on a paved road. True to it's name, the lake and campsite are right on a summit! The lake is pretty small and a little muddy, but a fun dip nevertheless. It's about a 5 minute hike from the campsites. There are 3 campsites at the campground and they are all first come first serve! Dispersed camping is allowed in the area as well. Managed to find 2 empty spots here on Labor Day weekend, which was a real treat! The sites all have fire rings and picnic tables and share a vault toilet. The sites are well spaced and there little noise carries around the area. The campground is a little close the to highway (Warm Lake Rd) but traffic at night is pretty low, so the noise isn't bad. There is a wilderness airstrip not too far off, so some plane noise as well! Otherwise, a nice spot with some great views of the night sky.

A Pleasant Camping Area North of Boise, Idaho

This campsite is located east of Cascade Lake and Donnelly, Idaho. It's a scenic road to get there. The camsite we were in was dry camping with no hook-ups. The camping pad for our 27' Travel Trailer was nice and level. Each campsite had a picnic table and a firepit. There are some nice hiking trails in the vicinity. Mountain biking and horse riding is acceptable there as well. Since we had kayaks, we had a short drive to the boat ramp. There is excellent trout fishing. There is a small swim beach near the Warm Lake Lodge and Restaurant, near where the cabins are. All in all, a great stay, away from the city :-) It's a nice peaceful setting.

    Close to Lowman

Nice little campground with less than a dozen sites. Everything is very flat here so no worries about finding a level site. The river is nearby but there is no real access here. Go down the road a bit and you will have some nice water access. The campground is clean and maintained, with the usual picnic tables and fire pits. No dedicated tent pads, but lots of cushy pine needles for under your tent. Lots of trees that are good for hammocks, just know that you might get a drop or two of pine sap dripping on you. Pop down to the Lowman ranger station down river a few miles to get some good maps; while you are at it, stop in at the Lowman Inn for some killer pizza.
