Poison Creek Campground — Lake Cascade State Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Lake Cascade State Park's Poison Creek Campground sits along the eastern shore of Lake Cascade, managed by Idaho Parks and Recreation and open from late May through the end of December. Sites are spacious and paved, with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections for RVs up to 50 feet. The campground also has WiFi, showers, and a dump station, making it a practical base for longer stays.

The terrain is open, which means lake views are unobstructed from many sites. Campers get water on one side and mountain sightlines on the other, a combination that multiple reviewers have singled out as a reason to return. A small marina area gives access to the lake, and kayaks, canoes, and boats are available to rent on-site. Cell coverage is reportedly solid, with one camper noting five bars of 5G on AT&T. Shade is limited, so sites exposed to afternoon sun may be a factor to weigh in summer months.

The facilities earn consistent praise. "Showers and facilities clean," notes Phillip C., who has visited twice. Fireplace areas arrive raked and tidy. Camp hosts are present and attentive, which reviewers describe as helpful but firm about rules. Reservations are strongly recommended for weekends. Donnelly, about four miles north, covers any forgotten supplies. Nearby, West Mountain Campground — Lake Cascade State Park and Buttercup Campground — Lake Cascade State Park provide additional options within the park for groups or overflow. Senior discounts are available, so it's worth asking at check-in.

Always a good stay

We’ve been here twice now. First 2021 and again June 2024. Campground is well kept. Showers and facilities clean. Minutes from Donnelly Idaho for “the things you forgot”. Great views coming back again for sure.

Great! (If you can reserve a spot.)

We love this campground. We’ve been able to stay here twice, but it’s hard to get a reservation, unless it’s during the week. It’s got a great beach area, nicely paved sites, lots of stuff to rent and nice facilities. Right on Lake Cascade so you have lake views on one side and mountain views on the other, seriously beautiful. Shows off Idaho in a good way! We have found the camp hosts to be a bit over the top in most of the Cascade campgrounds, it’s like they are just sitting there, waiting to pounce if you make a mistake. So know your campground rules well or they will be grouchy with you.
