Best RV Parks & Resorts near Nampa, ID

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks surround Nampa, Idaho, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers exploring the Treasure Valley region. Ambassador RV Resort in nearby Caldwell offers year-round full hookup sites with 50-amp service and is particularly accommodating to large rigs, featuring wide pull-through sites on level river rock pads with concrete patios. Abundant Life RV Park, a newer facility established in 2020, provides big-rig friendly spaces with full hookups including water, sewer, and electric connections. Snake River RV Resort in Homedale maintains highly-rated sites with 50-amp service and spacious pull-through options approximately 30 minutes from Nampa. One RV owner noted, "We had site 17, but the water was so far I needed 2 hoses. The electric hook up was too far for my power cord, and I couldn't reach the sewer hookups either," highlighting the importance of checking hookup placement when selecting specific sites.

Across the Nampa area, most RV campgrounds remain open year-round with varying amenities and price points. Cell service quality fluctuates between parks, with some locations reporting poor WiFi connectivity despite advertised internet access. Pet-friendly policies are standard throughout the region's RV parks, though specific restrictions may apply. Dump stations are available at most facilities, with Ambassador RV Resort even offering the convenience of staff pickup for propane tanks and garbage. Canyon Springs RV Resort provides full hookups but lacks an on-site sanitary dump station. During peak travel seasons, advance reservations are strongly recommended as the limited number of premium RV sites with 50-amp service fill quickly. Many parks accommodate large motorhomes and fifth wheels up to 40 feet, though navigation into some sites may require careful maneuvering, especially for longer rigs with tow vehicles.

    River Point RV Park

    Newer, Nice, Maintained, Friendly!

This is a nice place. Not too expensive, close to town, traffic noise isn't bad, great staff and host. It's clean, newer amenities include some limited food items, ice, BBQs, dog area, propane, pool table, tennis court (or whatever ball you want to use for this size net), 1/2-court basketball, volleyball. They even have the balls to use (don't know about tennis or other similar-size balls though).

Large, wide spaces, many pull throughs. I can fit my truck next to my travel trailer. Asphalt drives and stall sites. Showers/restrooms are clean, so is the laundry area, all with newer equipment. Each shower/water closet is its own small room, hooks, bench, ADA accessible, sink, just like your own restroom. Laundry is $2 wash, $2 dry, quarters.

Indian Creek Campground — Lake Owyhee State Park

    Wow!

We followed our RV GPS and it showed the campground (CG) as being at the dam, but we had about 5 miles more to go. There were reviews that the road to the CG areas was challenging. We had called the ranger station and asked if we could get a 39’ 5th wheel up the road and had asked on our FB owners group, both said yes just take it slow. The “fun” starts at the dam with the most challenging portion being after the turn-off for the first CG, McCormack CG, which has sites with 30 AMP and water. We added a video to this review showing the drive  to Indian Creek CG about a mile further up the road. We are seasoned 5th wheelers and went slow with no problem. While we were there a 42’ 5th wheel came in with no problem as well. If you decide to bring a big rig especially the first time, suggest arriving/departing on a non weekend day to try and avoid meeting up with a boater on the single lane road. The lake gets a lot of daily boat activity with most boaters in by 9:00 AM and out around 3:00 PM. When you enter the CG you are on the first level where the camp host resides. There are info boards on which one had the name of people coming in with reservations, but there was no formal check in. There was no problem getting to back-in site 62 with water and 50/30 AMP. Sites 62-67 are on the upper 3rd level. Water pressure was about 40 psi and no issues with the 50 AMP. There is no cell phone service here and we knew that coming in. You are about an hour away from amenities so plan accordingly. Near the dam, there’s a small hut that rents kayaks etc. and states WiFi is available, but we didn’t try it. We did set up our satellite and as there are no shade trees on the 3rd level there was a clear shot to the southern sky. The 2nd level has some trees plus two cute little cabins, and more trees on the 1st level. There are several vaulted restrooms in the CG and at the boat ramp. Sites in both CGs vary in size but seemed consistent with website size descriptions. The dump station is back up the road at the McCormack CG along with the shower houses. Have to say the drive was well worth the stunning mountain and lake views. We had mule deer and a covey of quail visit us mornings and evenings. Even in mid August, we pretty much had the CG to ourselves, Mon- Thurs.

    Ambassador RV Resort

    Absolutely Nicest!!!

We stayed at the Ambassador RV Resort in Caldwell, Idaho in July and September 2021. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, well-maintained parks we have stayed at. This RV resort is a short drive off I84 and when you pull through the front gate, you become immediately aware that you are in for a great stay. The park is impeccably maintained. Huge pull-thru sites on level river rock pads. Directly beside the rock pad is a wide concrete patio area followed by another wide grassy area. Tons of room to set-up and relax outside. The pool, hot tub, and steam room are centrally located and are clean and inviting. The office and maintenance staff are top notch. You can even drop your garbage bag at the back of your camper in the morning and they pick it up and dump it for you. If you need propane, they will pick up your tank and bring it back to you. The resort also has the nicest gated dog run area we have ever seen. The WiFi worked great and they have cable. It was an absolute joy to stay here and we went back a second time this summer because we enjoyed it so much! For videos of the resort, visit our YouTube channel: Jeff & Steff’s Excellent Adventure.

    Boise Riverside RV Park

The Perfect RV Park For Visitors to Boise, Idaho

This RV Camping Site is AWESOME! They do allow tent camping and have cabins. They have full hookups for RV's as well. There is a lower rate for "back-ins" to the Boise River Greenbelt. They also have a higher rate for Pull Through Sites for RVs. There is so much to do in the area. Biking, hiking, walking along the Boise River. There is also some great fishing on the Boise River. This location is centered for city goers, snow skiers, white water rafters and anglers. We visited some nice restaurants within a short drive of the campgrounds. We rode our bikes along the trails, upstream and downstream. The campgrounds also rent bikes for those that don't have their own :-) You will not be disappointed with this campground if you want to get to know Boise, Idaho.

    Sunny Ridge RV Park

    The new owners are trying

The owner said they have had the park for about a year, and have made lots of improvements, but it still needs some work. The sites are confusing. We had site 17, but the water was so far I needed 2 hoses. The electric hook up was too far for my power cord, and I couldn’t reach the sewer hookups either. The sites are mostly grass (mud) with a small concrete pad. Internet is good, but I had no cell phone service. The owner was pleasant and waited for us to arrive after 8:00. We made it work for 1 night. There are cattle on the hillside behind the park, and deer wondered around as I was setting up. It is in a nice setting. Hopefully they can keep making improvements. Many of the people look like long term.

Well maintained campground with a super friendly staff. Clean facility: showers (good water pressure) and bathrooms. Reasonably priced laundromat. We were escorted to our gravel pull through site # 6

    Clean but Wifi is Poor

The park is clean and the facilities are nice. Most sites are gravel pull through with a concrete pad. They tell you that there’s limited access to Wifi. We couldn’t even connect.

Guide to Nampa

Nampa, Idaho RV camping offers access to the Snake River plain at elevations between 2,300-2,500 feet. Campgrounds throughout the Treasure Valley provide spaces for RVs ranging from basic amenities to full-service resorts, with most locations experiencing hot, dry summers and mild winters. Local camping spots serve as convenient bases for exploring both urban amenities and rural Idaho landscapes.

What to do

River activities: Snake River provides fishing opportunities for various species. One visitor at Snake River RV Resort reported, "When the weather warms up in the spring this is a great place to catch channel catfish in the shallows... if you're just looking for some nice quiet peaceful time down by the river they will let you pull your motor home right down there close."

Biking: Greenbelt trails connect multiple campgrounds to downtown areas. A camper at Boise Riverside RV Park noted, "Easy access to central Boise in a park-like setting along the greenbelt path. We rode bikes along the path, enjoyed the river, toured Boise state and downtown, and even ate dinner without ever getting in our car."

Wine tasting: Local vineyards within 30 minutes of most Nampa-area campgrounds. A reviewer at Rivers Edge RV Park mentioned, "We found a local vineyard that is a pleasure to visit. Good food, good wine and a great view of the vineyard while eating."

What campers like

Peaceful waterfront views: Several parks offer direct access to water features. A visitor at Rivers Edge RV Park shared, "Wonderful quiet location, good hosts and amazing sunsets on the Snake River."

Swimming options: Pools provide relief during hot summer months. One camper at Hi-Valley RV Park appreciated the "excellent facilities, crew, pool, spa, off leash dog park, laundry, showers, garbage pick up(wow right!), Good power, good water pressure."

Well-maintained grounds: Grassy areas and shade trees are valued amenities in the arid climate. A Snake River RV Resort visitor reported, "The grounds are well kept and the grass is GREEN! They water just about, if not, every day! Dave, Gary and the other staff members take pride in what they do and how they want the park to look."

What you should know

Temperature fluctuations: Summer highs regularly exceed 90°F, while nights can be significantly cooler. A visitor at Rivers Edge RV Park noted, "The water was so warm I swam at midnight!"

Cell service variability: Despite urban proximity, connectivity can be unreliable. A reviewer at Abundant Life RV Park warned, "Cell service (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) is pretty bad at most of this park. There is a very busy local highway (Business I-84) and Interstate (the actual I-84) close by so the cell towers can't keep up."

Bathroom quality varies: Some facilities receive more maintenance than others. One camper at Boise Riverside RV Park critiqued, "Worst showers, laundry and bathrooms than anywhere I've been. They don't take care of them for how much money they obviously bring in."

Tips for camping with families

Look for play areas: Some parks offer recreational facilities for children. A visitor at Caldwell Campground and RV Park highlighted, "The bathrooms and showers are excellent! Clean, secure. The lakeside location and walking trails are beautiful."

Kid-friendly seasonal activities: Holiday-specific programming at several parks. One camper at Abundant Life RV Park mentioned, "They even had Easter activities for families the morning we were leaving."

Swimming options for hot days: Pool availability varies between parks. A reviewer at KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort stated, "In the clubhouse you can play pool, watch tv, swim in the pool or lounge in the jacuzzi."

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: Position within parks affects convenience and noise levels. One RVer at KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort shared, "The sites are pretty close, and the wifi is not great. Those are my only reasons for the 4 star."

Pull-through availability: Several parks offer easy-access sites. A camper at Abundant Life RV Park noted, "We stayed one night. Check in was easy. All spots are easy parking. Park for kids, dog area, propane refills. Clubhouse with really nice showers."

Advance booking essential: Particularly for peak summer months. A visitor at Canyon Springs RV Resort observed, "We only stayed here one night, so we did not use the amenities. Their pull through site was long enough for both our Class A and our tow vehicle. Decent amount of concrete pad, though it did feel like the space between sites was a little close."
