    River Point RV Park

    Newer, Nice, Maintained, Friendly!

This is a nice place. Not too expensive, close to town, traffic noise isn't bad, great staff and host. It's clean, newer amenities include some limited food items, ice, BBQs, dog area, propane, pool table, tennis court (or whatever ball you want to use for this size net), 1/2-court basketball, volleyball. They even have the balls to use (don't know about tennis or other similar-size balls though).

Large, wide spaces, many pull throughs. I can fit my truck next to my travel trailer. Asphalt drives and stall sites. Showers/restrooms are clean, so is the laundry area, all with newer equipment. Each shower/water closet is its own small room, hooks, bench, ADA accessible, sink, just like your own restroom. Laundry is $2 wash, $2 dry, quarters.

Indian Creek Campground — Lake Owyhee State Park

    Wow!

We followed our RV GPS and it showed the campground (CG) as being at the dam, but we had about 5 miles more to go. There were reviews that the road to the CG areas was challenging. We had called the ranger station and asked if we could get a 39’ 5th wheel up the road and had asked on our FB owners group, both said yes just take it slow. The “fun” starts at the dam with the most challenging portion being after the turn-off for the first CG, McCormack CG, which has sites with 30 AMP and water. We added a video to this review showing the drive  to Indian Creek CG about a mile further up the road. We are seasoned 5th wheelers and went slow with no problem. While we were there a 42’ 5th wheel came in with no problem as well. If you decide to bring a big rig especially the first time, suggest arriving/departing on a non weekend day to try and avoid meeting up with a boater on the single lane road. The lake gets a lot of daily boat activity with most boaters in by 9:00 AM and out around 3:00 PM. When you enter the CG you are on the first level where the camp host resides. There are info boards on which one had the name of people coming in with reservations, but there was no formal check in. There was no problem getting to back-in site 62 with water and 50/30 AMP. Sites 62-67 are on the upper 3rd level. Water pressure was about 40 psi and no issues with the 50 AMP. There is no cell phone service here and we knew that coming in. You are about an hour away from amenities so plan accordingly. Near the dam, there’s a small hut that rents kayaks etc. and states WiFi is available, but we didn’t try it. We did set up our satellite and as there are no shade trees on the 3rd level there was a clear shot to the southern sky. The 2nd level has some trees plus two cute little cabins, and more trees on the 1st level. There are several vaulted restrooms in the CG and at the boat ramp. Sites in both CGs vary in size but seemed consistent with website size descriptions. The dump station is back up the road at the McCormack CG along with the shower houses. Have to say the drive was well worth the stunning mountain and lake views. We had mule deer and a covey of quail visit us mornings and evenings. Even in mid August, we pretty much had the CG to ourselves, Mon- Thurs.

    Ambassador RV Resort

    Absolutely Nicest!!!

We stayed at the Ambassador RV Resort in Caldwell, Idaho in July and September 2021. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, well-maintained parks we have stayed at. This RV resort is a short drive off I84 and when you pull through the front gate, you become immediately aware that you are in for a great stay. The park is impeccably maintained. Huge pull-thru sites on level river rock pads. Directly beside the rock pad is a wide concrete patio area followed by another wide grassy area. Tons of room to set-up and relax outside. The pool, hot tub, and steam room are centrally located and are clean and inviting. The office and maintenance staff are top notch. You can even drop your garbage bag at the back of your camper in the morning and they pick it up and dump it for you. If you need propane, they will pick up your tank and bring it back to you. The resort also has the nicest gated dog run area we have ever seen. The WiFi worked great and they have cable. It was an absolute joy to stay here and we went back a second time this summer because we enjoyed it so much! For videos of the resort, visit our YouTube channel: Jeff & Steff’s Excellent Adventure.

    The Wagon Wheel

    Small grounds with peaceful atmosphere

These grounds are truly tiny. There are several spaces occupied by long term residents and others have visitors like us who are just passing through. The grounds themselves are well-kept with lots of mature trees around the sites providing shade and large shrubs and fences ensuring privacy from the outside.

The park has easy entry on N 18th, the park roads are quite wide and navigable and there’s an exit gate just on the other side. While the park accommodates large trailers, I believe all spots are back-in and there’s a couple tricky areas that would be best suited for small trailers. For $40, the price is reasonable for a level pad and full hookups. It’s very quiet, situated off the main road across from a cemetery and a funeral home. It’s a really great option if you want to pay a bit less than the large park down the street and be around far fewer other RVers!

    Mountain Home RV Park

Mountain Home is a great place to stay

Mountain Home RV Resort is a picturesque park with over 280 spots split between a more established shaded spots and newer less shaded area. There are many long term residents yet given the number of available spots this does not present a problem. Shower and laundry facilities are plentiful and clean. There is no charge to use the shower and the cost of washers and driers is nominal. I would defiantly stay here again.

    Boise Riverside RV Park

The Perfect RV Park For Visitors to Boise, Idaho

This RV Camping Site is AWESOME! They do allow tent camping and have cabins. They have full hookups for RV's as well. There is a lower rate for "back-ins" to the Boise River Greenbelt. They also have a higher rate for Pull Through Sites for RVs. There is so much to do in the area. Biking, hiking, walking along the Boise River. There is also some great fishing on the Boise River. This location is centered for city goers, snow skiers, white water rafters and anglers. We visited some nice restaurants within a short drive of the campgrounds. We rode our bikes along the trails, upstream and downstream. The campgrounds also rent bikes for those that don't have their own :-) You will not be disappointed with this campground if you want to get to know Boise, Idaho.

    A gem

Well maintained campground with a super friendly staff. Clean facility: showers (good water pressure) and bathrooms. Reasonably priced laundromat. We were escorted to our gravel pull through site # 6

Guide to Meridian

RV campgrounds near Meridian, Idaho sit at approximately 2,605 feet elevation in the Treasure Valley with the Boise Mountains forming a scenic backdrop. Most facilities operate year-round despite winter temperatures that can drop below freezing from November through February. Summer highs often exceed 90°F with very low humidity, creating comfortable camping conditions for evening outdoor activities once temperatures moderate.

What to do

River access activities: Snake River RV Resort provides direct access to fishing opportunities, with one visitor noting, "I caught 10 small mouth Bass, couple were keepers! There's plenty of catfish, trout and, if you get lucky, Salmon." The resort features a riverside pavilion that's "great for large groups" while maintaining spacious sites with "large trees in abundance."

Cycling and walking: Boise Riverside RV Park offers excellent access to the Boise Greenbelt trail system. One camper shared, "There is a greenbelt that runs from the campground all the way to Lucky Peak Reservoir, a distance of 19 miles." This paved path allows for car-free exploration of central Boise.

Wine tasting excursions: Camp at Rivers Edge RV Park and visit nearby vineyards. A camper reported, "We found a local vineyard that is a pleasure to visit. Good food, good wine and a great view of the vineyard while eating." The Snake River Valley wine region includes several tasting rooms within 30 minutes of Meridian.

What campers like

They water just about, if not, every day!" Another visitor mentioned they "enjoyed the grass, shade, views and staff friendliness."

Clean facilities: Ambassador RV Resort maintains exceptionally high cleanliness standards. One camper described it as "one of the nicest, cleanest, well-maintained parks we have stayed at" while another noted, "Showers were clean and they even had a hot tub!" The park provides garbage collection service directly from campsites.

What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: Sites at Hi-Valley RV Park are described as "pretty narrow" with "neighbors within 10 feet of us on both sides." Similarly, Canyon Springs RV Resort received feedback that there's "not much room between sites." Expect close quarters at most RV parks in the region.

Cell service challenges: Abundant Life RV Park experiences connectivity issues despite its developed location. According to one reviewer, "Cell service (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) is pretty bad at most of this park. There is a very busy local highway (Business I-84) and Interstate (the actual I-84) close by so the cell towers can't keep up."

Military restrictions: Military Park Idaho NG Gowen Field is "open to active or retired military personnel only" and features just "7 concrete slab sites with power, none are pull through." While limited in capacity, it offers amenities including "a store, a gym with showers on site."

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Caldwell Campground and RV Park provides tent sites adjacent to a fishing pond, offering "grassy spots right on the fishing pond for tent campers." The campground connects to "The Greenbelt, a 3 mile paved path can be accessed right at the front of the campground. It crosses an old train bridge and then runs along the water."

Kid-friendly amenities: Abundant Life RV Park includes facilities specifically for younger guests. A visitor mentioned, "They have a fairly nice new bathhouse, a few washers & dryers, a workout room, community room, and a small playground." Another noted, "They even had Easter activities for families the morning we were leaving."

Basketball courts: Rivers Edge RV Park provides additional recreation options beyond water activities. One camper noted the presence of a "little basketball court my little guy was stoked about and the river highlighted the views." This creates options for families when weather doesn't permit water activities.

Tips from RVers

After-hours arrivals: Ambassador RV Resort has efficient procedures for late check-ins. One visitor shared, "It's easy access, clean, and even after hours was easy to check-in." Another noted they are "very communicative about your upcoming visit. I received several messages from them ahead of my visit to provide additional info and welcome."

Easy access sites: KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort provides convenient pull-through sites for larger rigs. A camper noted, "The sites are level and the utilities are in good repair" while another mentioned, "Sites are level river rock. Park is clean and well cared for." The resort's location provides access to shopping centers and dining options within minutes.

Extended stays common: Many Meridian area RV parks host long-term residents. At Rivers Edge RV Park, visitors note the "camp hosts, Turk, and his wife, Meghan, are absolutely, by far the best camp hosts we've ever dealt with" for guests staying multiple nights or longer periods.
