We have two RV sites located 2 miles passed the summit of poncha pass. Just 15 miles outside of Salida and a 35 minute drive to monarch ski area. There is plenty of hiking on the property and it’s less than 5 minutes from national Forrest. The sites have water and electric hook ups. There is a dump station 15 minutes down the road. Cripple creek Rv park was very conveniently located just 2 blocks behind casinos . Great views . Most people here are long term. As a matter of fact no line else checked I or our when we were there. Make sure to call the day of arrival to confirm site number the are old school and no emails or txt . No paper or board for late night check in with direction for site . We got there late it was raining and thank you for nice level site . Overall if you are looking to do some gambling and see the site it works as a home base .

This is our second night here and as RV parks go it's got all the basics covered. You don't come to this RV camp ground for the amenities you come here for the Dunes. Which are STUNNING.
So I recommend coming here if you want a full hookup site that is super close the entrance to the GSDNP. This is no resort but a great place to setup Basecamp for all those awesome adventures in the park.
ScoutWe’ve done 2 weeklong stays at Grape Creek RV Park near Westcliffe, Colorado. The spaces are long and level and each contains full hookups, a large patch of grass, aspen trees, and best of all great views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The town of Westcliffe with shops, museums, restaurants, and grocery store is a couple miles away. Within an hour’s drive there are many attractions, much wonderful scenery, and endless lakes for fishing and trails for hiking. Don’t miss out!

Why did we stay? We visited Great Sand Dunes NP and had planned to stay at the dry campground called Zapata Campground. We had been having issues with our diesel heater and needed electricity to plug in our electric 120 heater. This RV park had all the creature comforts and a gas station. Buuuuutttt it was sketchy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Gorge RV Resort. The new owners were in the process of updating the bathhouse which will look beautiful from what I could see! The sites were level and well-kept. The camp store was well stocked with firewood, camping supplies, a s’mores bar, cold drinks and lots of Colorado made items. The view from the hot tub was amazing! The fire pits on the patio were cozy and inviting. The location was perfect, close to the Royal Gorge bridge, rafting in the Arkansas River, hiking trails, the Royal Gorge Route Railroad and several great restaurants. The playground was very kid friendly and the giant jumping pillow was super fun! We are already planning our next visit!!

I asked about where to park. He asked how long my stay would be. I said one night. He said they only accept long term. Slum looking location. We went to a local truck stop and spent the night.

Stayed full day and overnight, sweet little campground. Chris the owner is a wonderful person and met us as we pulled in. Gave us a choice of sites, full hook up or just water and 30 Amp electric.(they do have 50 Amp too) Wife and I swam in the nice pool on site. Will go back on way home. Rates excellent!
GuideStaff is great, several full hook up RV pull through sites, cleans bathrooms and showers. The view of the Dunes from the RV area is wonderful and only four mile from the entrance to the National Park. Good rates compared to others in the area. Zapata Falls is less than 10 miles away, Alamosa is thirty minutes. The views just driving this area are amazing and Mt Blanca is breathtaking.
GuideWe had just spent two nights along the highway due to RV needing repairs. We picked the first RV Park we could find. Fortunately, they could accommodate us, but it was a less than desirable place. First, it was extremely tight access; we had to ask a neighbor to move his truck. It was a full hookup, but the tap was broke so we had to tap into the neighbor’s waterline with a splitter. You can’t choose your neighbors but many in the park gave us concerns for our safety. We had to park our truck at the end of the park due to the limited space... wish more RVers would have been as considerate. We didn’t use any of the facilities so can’t comment on cleanliness. There is a large open trench by the trash cans, so watch out if you have children.
RangerWe spent one night here so we could go to the park. Nice enough campground with level spaces and full hook ups. We paid $54. Area also has cabins and a lodge as well as a store with a little restaurant. The showers were amazing at this place. Nice hot copious amounts of water and very clean. About 4 miles from the park entrance. Sandunes were pretty cool, but unless you want to hike to the very top of them, you could easily only spend two hours at the most here.

GuideThis campground is so conveniently close to the national park. The property was well-maintained and clean. The staff were very friendly. And, there was a restaurant, gift shop and equipment rental shop on the property.
Our RV spot had full hookups but the sites were so closely spaced that there was no room for a picnic table or outdoor seating. The bathrooms were modern, clean, and with hot showers.
GuideWould give five stars, but right on the main road through the San Luis Valley so it's a little loud, and bright at night. That said, it's still peaceful, and the people are nice. Has shower and laundry for guests, and full hookups for RVs. It's $30 per night or $199 a week, we stayed two days, and would stay again. They allow pets, but have a strict "no pit bulls" dog policy. So unless your "pit bull" is a service dog, they can't stay. Unfortunately dog breeds and temperaments are still misunderstood, but that aside, good people, and nice little place to stay.

Stayed 3 days back in March 2020. This is a well maintained no thrills RV park in the desert region of Colorado. Flat and level spaces that can accommodate any size RV. Large clean laundry facility and clean restroom and showers. Beautiful at night watching the stars but WINDY WINDY WINDY during the day. Good location to access dunes and south west park of Colorado. Did I say it was windy here!? It’s windy!

Nice campground for tents and small camper trailers (under 30”). Sights off the river are on a steep grade, which will require a lot of rise in trailer jacks-bring our blocks. Most sights have space for a trailer and tent. The camp group does not have water and spotty Mobile phone service for those who care. Nice relaxing place to visit.

This is a BLM dispersed camping site north of Salida on the road to Hecla Junction Recreation Area. The river access is about 5 miles away down a steep dirt and gravel road. The BLM site is very basic with no facilities. The campsites are not marked but easy to identify by the campfire rocks and road patterns. You can’t beat the price if you are looking for free camping near world class river rafting. Like all dispersed camp sites you get a diverse mix of users from long term residents to temporary van and tent campers. The site is located immediately off the access road to the river and provides some tree cover for the sun and wind. It can be a rather windy and dusty spot. So you will need to have a good tent or other cover in the summer or during wind events. The site is patrolled by BLM and other park officials. They have some great hikes here and nice scenery. However, the highlight here is the proximity to the Arkansas River and river rafting. The the Hecla Campground is full this could serve as a good plan B for free. You will need your own toilet, food, and water. You will also need to pack out your trash as they do not have any trash removal. If you are used to dispersed camping, this will be straightforward.
LegendWe booked here last minute on a holiday weekend and we were thankful they had a spot for us! The campground parking area is just that. It’s a place to park for the night, with full hook ups. No wifi. The location can’t be beat! Views are incredible! The bath house was clean. There is a store and restaurant in property. They also have cabins to rent. . My only complaint…this is a dark sky area with expansive views of the sky and the opportunity to see the Milky Way. This is not something g I get to see at home! However, all the giant campers had their bright lights on at night and it really messed with viewing of the sky. I wish there was a rule of no outside lights at night. It’s unnecessary! If you are one of those people that leave your lights on when you go in for the night, please reconsider!

This is one of the best RV Campgrounds in the state of Colorado! This is definitely a hidden gem with sites nestled up in the forest trees and close to everything you come to do while camping. Close to hiking, fishing, OHV trails, and anything you can think of for the Rocky Mountain outdoors! Book a stay here as soon as you possibly can, you will not regret it....

This place is the epitome of ghetto , 98% of residents live there permantly ,the night we got there the water was frozen at the hydrant we didn't have water for weeks the next day we were headed to shower and the manager Ronda was yelling from her house totally intoxicated saying we can't use the showers they are for cabin and tent sites only but the website advertised restrooms and showers but they don't tell you till you get there. The owner Duane came knocking late at night also intoxicated or high maybe both yelling saying not to hook up to the hydrant untill we winterize it, this hydrant was a shared hydrant with the trailer behind us and we learned they have been living there for over a year they should have been responsible for winterizing it . We had to drive 10miles to the truck stop and pay 12.00 to shower. We were there for a job the other RV parks were 30 miles out of town. We also we informed that that hydrant has froze several times in the past and they were trying to blame us and said we owe them 275.00 and we never had water the total duration of our stay .Duane is a crook . They wanted to charge some one for their negligence . Drive the extra miles to the KOA they are professional and care about the condition of the park .

Riverside RV Park is on the outskirts of Salida, Colorado just off of US-50. The Arkansas River flows through the campground at a sedate flow. Our campsite (#8) was right next to and parallel to the river which provided some soothing sounds at night. It took a couple of tries to back our 20 foot travel trailer into the spot. The gravel site was level side to side but sloped slightly back to front. The bathrooms and showers are clean but a bit worn, and they are across the river bridge from the campsites and up some fairly steep steps. My wife is handicapped, so we had to drive around to the bathhouse.
The campground is next door to a Sonic Drive-In and across the highway from a Wal-mart. It is within a half hour drive to rafting, horseback riding, hot springs, trailheads to the outback and high mountains.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

I think this may be the same campground as Salida North??? Our stay was 6/16/24. small sites with firepit and table available no water or toilet. A handful of sites could accommodate our 23' camper trailer. Quiet place. Though by morning most sites were taken. Many "car" campers pulled in for overtime stay... Google took us too far up canyon . Turn off hwy 285 go over bridge and take dirt road to right.
