Best RV Parks & Resorts near Westcliffe, CO

Grape Creek RV Park and Wet Mountain RV Park & Cabins provide full hookup sites for RVs near Westcliffe. Grape Creek operates seasonally from May through November with spacious pull-through sites that accommodate large rigs, offering full hookups including 50-amp electrical service. ["The spaces are long and level and each contains full hookups, a large patch of grass, aspen trees, and best of all great views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains," noted one visitor.] Wet Mountain RV Park in downtown Westcliffe features sewer connections, water hookups, and 50-amp electrical service for larger motorhomes. Both parks offer level sites with mountain views, though spacing between RVs can be tight during peak season.

Within 30 miles of Westcliffe, road conditions vary considerably when accessing RV parks. Highway 50 provides the main access route to the region, but secondary roads may involve steeper grades and tight turns. Cell service is spotty throughout the Wet Mountain Valley, with several campgrounds reporting limited or no coverage. According to one visitor, Grape Creek RV Park is conveniently located just "a couple miles away" from Westcliffe's amenities including shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. Most area RV parks welcome pets but enforce leash rules. Dump stations are available at both Westcliffe RV parks, though travelers should note that winter closures typically begin in late November, with few year-round options in the immediate area.

Cripple Creek Hospitality House & RV Park

Best rv park in Tellar County

Have spent summer 2021 here.  A few blocks from all the casinos (they all run shuttles).

Great staff, owners on site daily.  There is a food truck (Doc's) with GREAT food, permanently on site. Laundry on site, Shower & bathrooms.
The Cripple Creek Burros (free range about town) are here often. NOTE: the burros like our hummingbird feeders!
Open year round (limited rv sites open through winter)
Hotel on property was once the Cripple Creek Hospital and is "period restored."

I've spent seven summers in Colorado in my rv, Hospitality House and RV Park has been one of the best summers we've had.

32' 5th wheel, 50 amp. Reasonable long term rate.

Piñon Campground — Lathrop State Park

Lathrop State Park has a little of everything

We have visited this park several times, in the summer, spring and fall. The campground provides a nice visitors center, two small lakes (one non-wake), a sand beach, paved and unpaved bike trails, fishing, a kids fishing pond, trails, and electric or no-hook-up camping. The campground is divided into three loops with each loop containing flush toilets and shower facilities. A tent-only campground is situated closer to the highway, while the three loops are far from the road and provide ample star-gazing experiences. Favorite spots include 102 (has a great view of the Spanish Peaks), and site 84 (private pull-through with junipers and other short trees to block the road/other campers). I have attended several ranger programs here and hiked on all trails. Playing on the beach and picnicking is enhanced by the water stations to wash off the sand, benches, picnic tables, and shade trees. Kayaking on the no-wake lake is peaceful and fishing is abundant. Bike riding is simple and mostly flat. A fully paved trail circles the lake and is accessible by the campgrounds. A public, 9-hole golf course sits directly next to the park. The course is inexpensive and fun for an afternoon or morning. If you've exhausted all your options at the park itself, head one hour away to the Great Sand Dunes National Park to "surf" on the dunes and learn about this beautiful area. This park truly has a little of everything and while it is one of the oldest state parks in Colorado, it is well-maintained and enjoyable year-round.

    Aspen Acres Campground

    Well maintained & staffed

This was a delightful experience for us. There are sites for every type of camper: tent, trailer, RV, glamping and cabins. This is a somewhat small but well maintained private campground with lots of simple amenities. All is the wooded back-in sites have full hook-ups (30A) and there are pull-thru sites (Ithink they are still 30A). The center wooded area is perfect for tents. A small dog park gave our girls the chance to run free for a little. There is a shower house with bathrooms that are well maintained. Trash is kept tidy and didn’t smell even on the 97 degree day. Very easy to access but no road noise (at least not at our site).

We have a 26’ trailer and stayed in site 18. It was near the end of the row and relatively quiet. We only wish we had a longer power cable. (Our next purchase!) Our port is at the back and the outlet was way up front. To reach, we had to set up near the front of the site which limited our parking. Just pointing that out for others who might be ill prepared too.

We were too far away to take advantage of WiFi which is fine, we just wandered up near the office to check our texts once daily. It might be more accessible if you are located closer to the office. No cell service for Verizon. Personally, I was happy to be unplugged for a couple of days!

Although we had a fire ban in effect, we were able to rent a propane fire pit from the office. Be super cautious and check fire restrictions for Custer County. (http://oem.custercountygov.com/firecon.htm)

Aspen Acres has a lot more staff than I expected and they patrolled frequently. Very helpful and friendly.

5 minutes from Bishops Castle and 10 minutes from Lake Isabel ($7 day use fee). Easy drive up from I-25 but fairly steep in spots if that is problematic.

    We will stay again!

    Salida RV Resort

Very nice new RV park. Right on the Arkansas River, great mountain views.

Very clean, large level spots with gravel and plenty of room in between RVs.  Great location, close to Salida and hiking & biking trails.  Directly on the Arkansas River -- river view spots are very nice and all spots have a view of the mountains, there's a bit of road noise from nearby highway.  Friendly staff, nice clubhouse with showers, pool table & fitness center, there's a small dog park and pickleball courts.  Direct access to Arkansas River for kayaks and small boats (walk down to river, can't drive there).  Campground internet was spotty but cell service is great so internet is very good if you have a hot spot.  Highly recommended, my only complaint is there's no pool or hot tub.

    Cripple Creek KOA

Awesome family campground with Mountain View’s

Maiden voyage with new toy hauler: many full service & large lots, LOTS of family activities (Royal Gorge, Dinosaur Museum, White Water Rafting, UTV Tours, Zip Lines, mini golf, pool, WiFi & large slide on site) & nearby Texas Creek trails for ATV’s. Quiet. Friendly! Helpful. Most are pull through lots. Great place to start for us!

    Mosca Campground

    Beautiful view

One of few places to camp close to Great Sand Dunes NP in winter months. Electric sites with semi-covered picnic table and fire pits. I think toliet were closed for the season but didn’t try. Colorado hunting/fishing license required for sites

Piñon Campground — Lathrop State Park

    Views for Miles

We stayed here the first week o f November 2020. Not all sites were open and the park was not crowded at all. The bathrooms were open and the weather was beautiful. The sites are all pull through and private. We had lots of space behind us to stretch out in. A picnic table was also placed in a space where shade would be provided on a concrete slab. Electric and water at the site and a dump station at the exit.
