Situated in the foothills off Highway 115, roughly 30 to 40 minutes south of Colorado Springs, Mountaindale Cabin and RV Resort operates on terraced terrain shaded by ponderosa pines. Sites are cut into the hillside so that rigs at different elevations have open sightlines toward the surrounding ridgelines rather than directly into neighboring campsites. The layout gives most spots a sense of separation that reviewers consistently note is harder to find at campgrounds closer to the city. Deer and wild turkey move through the sites regularly, particularly in the early morning and evening hours.
Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer are available throughout, and the resort accommodates RVs up to 50 feet. The bathhouse has been recently remodeled, with private all-in-one bathroom and shower suites that multiple reviewers single out as among the cleanest they have encountered on extended road trips. Deb M. describes the owners as "friendly and helpful, and overall it was super quiet." Additional facilities include coin laundry with commercial Maytag units, a community rec room, a hot tub, and a hiking trail that climbs to the top of the ridge above the property.
Cell service is essentially nonexistent for AT&T and T-Mobile users. The resort's WiFi is functional enough for calls and light streaming, so it fills the gap for most stays. One practical concern worth knowing before booking: a rock quarry operates just down the road, and as Judy P. notes, "there is a rock quarry just down the road," with heavy truck traffic running weekday mornings through late afternoon. Requesting a site farther from the entrance road reduces the impact considerably.
The resort's location makes it a workable base for day trips to Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge, and Pikes Peak, all within roughly an hour's drive. Reservations are available and recommended, particularly for summer weekends when the park fills quickly. The cancellation policy has drawn criticism from at least one reviewer who was denied a refund despite a documented mechanical breakdown, so campers should read the terms carefully before booking. The on-site store operates on reduced winter hours and may not be stocked during off-season visits. Rates run $68 to $78 per night. Campers wanting dispersed alternatives nearby can consider Penrose BLM sites or BLM Road 6102 Dispersed — Penrose Commons OHV Area for a no-hookup option in the same corridor.
