Infested with flies

Went in late October and the campground was absolutely infested with flies. Us and the three other campers that showed up around the same time ended up leaving and going to Selby up the road because the flies were so out of control. Not sure if this is a seasonal issue because there isn’t any mention in other reviews.

Elephant seals and sunsets

This is a great stop if you want to spend some time with the elephant seals without the crowds of Big Sur.

Morro Bay astate Park is a great location with spectacular views!

This campsite was great, the site was large, clean and nice. It’s close to everything! You can walk next door to golf, walk across the street to the beach and to dine at Bayside Cafe. Site seeing, hiking and biking trails, and shopping and restaurants are just a short drive away. The sunsets are incredible from just about anywhere in the bay.

Be prepared for the sand/dirt, make sure to bring a rug or mat to wipe your feet.

Breath taking views & distanced from it all

We camped here in Late November. It was definitely cold at night, so bring proper equipment for near freezing temps.

We brought our dog with us and she had a great time. There are TONS of awesome trails around to walk, hike, or bike.

I would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to the spot depending on which route you take. If you follow the google maps directions, the road is a bit rough in spots.

If you are following the paved road and see a dirt road called “tunnel road” you can take a right on that and follow it to the recreation area.

There are tons of spots to camp.

We did not have a fire due to high fire danger and wouldn’t recommend it without the proper permits and fire conditions!

Overall this was a wonderful campsite!

Nice and quiet

Great spot to relax. There are some nice hiking options, as well.

Plans change when Big Sur is on fire

We got here on a Friday around 11am for a walk in site and the campground was packed. Luckily the campground hosts were very nice and had placed us in the overflow campsites. Which was just a small open area with another group already set up there. The next day they gave us a walk in campsite so we could have a campfire. However it was next to the restroom and the wind brought the smell to our site. The host did keep the toilets clean though. Lots of mosquitos around as well.

Tide spots but...

Like I said tide spots between the rigs. But have good infrastructure with pool, spa, laundry, club house. Require kind carpet or artificial grass because the paviment is dirt. Good location and nice staff. Full hookup and spot to big rigs.

Good but lot noise....

Rangers drive big trucks and tractors several times a day. Make the place little noise. Dry camping, some spots with water and electricity. Hot showers pay with tokens careful the showers are really hot. Clean free restroom and nice trail to the beach. Overall is good.

Dry camping but quiet.

Good dry camping with water and dump station at the exit. Cheap and safe. Check out.

Wildlife abound

Very easy to drive to. Paved all the way. Individual fire rings and picnic table at each site. Very clean.
