Hi Mountain Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Within Los Padres National Forest, Hi Mountain Campground operates as a US Forest Service facility positioned below the Hi Mountain Lookout. The campground accommodates RVs up to 16 feet and provides basic amenities including pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash.

Access requires higher ground clearance vehicles, as dirt fire roads can become rutted. AT&T cell service reaches the area, though other carriers may have limited coverage. Sites offer partial views through trees across the forest canopy. Summer visitors should prepare for persistent flies in shaded areas, and the elevation provides relief from valley heat during warmer months.

It was good

You have to bring your own water and bring plenty. You also have to carry out your trash. Unfortunately not everyone does. Did some hunting and bagged a deer. If your a beginner camper I wouldn't recommend camping here.

Almost To The Top!

There are a handful of parking pads just below the Hi Mountain Lookout. Pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings only. No water. AT&T cell service, but no Verizon (as of Summer 2016). Partial view through the trees out across the Los Padres National Forest, depending on the site selection.

Higher ground clearance is recommended getting up here! The dirt fire roads can get pretty rutted. AWD/4WD make the trek up a breeze, tho!

Flies can be INCESSANT in the shade during the hotter months...
