Camp San Luis Obispo RV sits on an active Army Reserve and National Guard base, requiring military ID for access. The campground features pull-through sites with 30 and 50 amp hookups positioned closely together without natural barriers between spots. Sites include picnic tables and brick fire pits, though campers need to bring their own firewood.
The facility maintains clean restrooms with hot showers and offers laundry services nearby. A 10 PM quiet policy enforces silence throughout the night hours. Road noise affects sites positioned adjacent to base traffic routes. The billeting office handles check-in but closes at 4 PM, located about a quarter-mile from the actual camping area.
Overflow camping costs less but provides no hookups, though a dump station serves these dry camping spots. Bjorn notes the base allows biking and walking throughout the grounds, adding "the area is kept very clean and at night there is no noise." Current rates run $31 per night for hookup sites and $10 for overflow camping. Reservations extend up to 30 days in advance.
Gate guards may not know campground directions initially. For campers seeking alternatives, El Chorro Regional Park provides a civilian option nearby.
