  South Carlsbad State Beach Campground

  One of the best in SoCal

  This is one of our go to campgrounds for our camping trips in SoCal.  Beautiful ocean views!  Next to Coast Hwy which is busy but not totally annoying.  Stores down the road for any necessities.  Beach is accessible by stairs--nothing at beach level.  Basic and RV hook-up sites.

  Beautiful RV resort with short drives to the beach, San Diego, and casinos. Full hook ups, pool, dog walk. Little pricey and has RV age restrictions but I sent pics and was allowed eveen though I was outside the age.

  Thousand Trails Pio Pico

  Not pleased

  We will not return here. We live in our travel trailer/camper. Good things first: bathrooms are clean. The grounds crew and store personnel are helpful and friendly. Plenty of dumpsters. Reasonably close to the things we wanted to do/see in San Diego. Good number of shaded spots, if you can get into one. Bad things: we were under the impression that the entire campground had full hook ups. Only the south side has full sewer, water, and electric hook ups. To get a spot on the south side, you have to go through a complicated first come first serve/wait for people to leave/list/lottery/nonsense. Our check in was more of a hassle than a breeze. It was not mentioned that not every RV spot on the north side had water and electric. The sites are not well marked. It looked like picnic tables were moved so other campers would not be close. We couldn't tell how far we were on or off our site. Buildings are dilapidated. Camping areas are not maintained. There was a lot of litter that could have been raked up and disposed of. The North side of the campground is neglected. There was no obvious signage that the washers and dryers did not except debit/credit cards. There was only one place in the grounds were you could get a preloaded laundry card, and it was broken. The ladies at the check in station were very clear that a serviceman was called and they were getting a new contract. But that didn't help get the laundry clean. Several of the washers and dryers were out of service. It's a 10 mile drive to Chula Vista for services. It was made clear before our stay that there was little to no cell service. However, Lake Whitney, Texas Thousand Trails provided free wifi for all in their lodge. That is not the case at Pio Pico. This is the third Thousand Trails campground we have stayed at, and we're considering leaving before our full seven days are up.

  Great place to RV!

  Woods valley is a gem in San Diego county. Very natural setting with lots of trees. The campground is immaculate, always clean and they keep the caliber of long term guests very high. Gold standard RV park!

  Pechanga RV Resort

  This Is A Resort With All Amenities

  I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017. 

  The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold. 

  I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes. 

  About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

  Paradise By The Sea RV Resort

  Amazing RV Resort Near Beach

  A nicely appointed RV resort in downtown Oceanside with an awesome staff. Pull-through and back-in, full hookup spots available. Cable, wi-fi, a clubhouse with TV and PlayStation for the kids, pool table, games to check out, and a small swimming pool and hot tub. There are also outdoor community areas with ping-pong, bean-bag toss, grills, and other activities.

  The resort is only a 5- minute walk to the beach and not far from Oceanside restaurants and shops. While it’s a tad spendy, you really do get a lot for your money with a great near beach location.

  Escondido RV Resort

  Even with bad weather, Escondido RV Resort shines

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at Escondido RV Resort and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience. Michael's friendly customer service and professionalism truly stood out, making our stay all the more enjoyable. 

  Despite facing challenging weather conditions with heavy rain and hail from an atmospheric river, everything continued to function seamlessly- from the electric hookups to the water supply. 

  The drainage system at Escondido RV Resort was impeccable, preventing any issues with mudslides even in such extreme weather. 

  The site itself is simply stunning, nestled in a peaceful and beautiful location that provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The resort's prime location added to the overall charm, allowing easy access to nearby attractions while still offering a quiet and serene atmosphere. 

  Overall, I highly recommend Escondido RV Resort for a memorable and hassle-free vacation. The combination of exceptional customer service, reliable facilities, and serene surroundings make it a top choice for any RV enthusiast. Thank you to Michael and the entire team for a wonderful stay!

  Ramona Oaks RV Resort

  Ramona Oaks

  Ramona Oaks is exactly what it says RV Resort, they do have 4 tent sites available which are ok just very rocky. One thing i didn’t like was the tent sites being so close to the main road that all night long you hear semi trucks and rice burners with their load exhaust driving down the windy road. A lot of the RV spots look to be permanent or semi permanent residence and nobody really comes out to socialize. There wasn’t a lot of kids out like i thought there would be like when i used to go camping as a kid. They do have a small lake that is catch and release only, don’t know exactly what fish are in there but i did catch a few sun fish. They do have a nice playground for the kids.

  No Tent Camping

  There has never been tent camping allowed here. There is RV or trailer camping but no tent and no bathrooms here.   Make sure you check the water quality since it can be an issue at times since it is near the Mexico border.

  Hot spring campground in the Anza desert. Such a great place to come and reset from busy day to day hustle. Peaceful and clean, with cabins for those who dont tent or trailer camp.

  It’s a nice Rv resort. Big rig friendly pull through sites. Went Veterans Day weekend 2021 and the weather was perfect. Short walk to the water, De Anza Cove. The beach is a dog friendly after 4 p.m.

  Vail Lake RV Resort

  More Like A Campground Than A Resort

  I would not ever call this a resort. It is a campground. The road to the office was full of huge potholes, I’ve heard that they are patching it each year, but it needs a major upgrade. It is hard to maneuver your RV around the potholes. The whole park is run-down but this doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy my stay! 

  I visited in December, the weather was perfect. It was in the’70s all day. They have accepted my Passport America discount for one night and my Good Sam discount for the other night I’ve spent here. The sites are pretty large, gravel but not level. You better bring your leveling blocks. 

  Why do I like this place? There is a lot to do here. Even though the pools are not heated, the pool area is closed for the winter; in the summer this place is fantastic for families. It is a huge park, lots of open space, kids are freely roaming around everywhere. There is mini-golf, ping pong, pickleball, volleyball, basketball courts. For the summer there is a water slide separate from the pool area. I found a 1.5-mile-long nature trail, which was very nice, but there are other hiking and biking opportunities in the area. You can walk down to the lake for example. The lake is farther down. Even though I like taking my showers in RV resort showers, this one was so run down that I’ve decided to take it in my small RV. I didn’t like the looks. There is a convenience store by the main building, where you can buy some basic camping items and snacks. I saw a cafe attached to a nice outdoor area with a stage but it wasn’t open. They are making it ready for the upcoming New Years’ Eve party. Who knew that New Year Eve is a huge camping holiday? I had awesome Sprint coverage, I was able to tether and watch my Netflix too. I gave this place 4 stars because they call it a resort. This is not a resort, a nice campground with lots to do.

  Lovely place. Feels much further away than it actually was, which is great when you’re traveling with young kids! Awesome playground only a short walk from our trailer camp spot (#16 which had a huge tree that made parking a little tricky) that had a great little secluded table/fire ring spot! Good hikes as well!

  Sweetwater Summit Regional Park

  Good urban Experience

  This is a San Diego County Park/Campground. It offers everything from tent/car camping to full hook-up for large RVs. The campground also has some nice amenities: good trail system, a splash pad (open in spring and summer months), a playground, some areas to have a group picnic, even a large event room. There are about 60 camping spaces, mostly partial hook-ups (electricity and water) and a few full hook-ups (electricity, water, and sewer) in the original campground. These sites, 1-60 offer a bit more shade than the newer campsites which are all full hook-up. The newer sites (61 and higher) are on a hill and offer some good views of Bonita Valley. 61 and higher all are all full hook-ups - but you can put a tent on 'em.

  The campground is freeway close and only a few miles away from grocery stores and restaurants.

  This campground has a nice feel. It is a good place to unwind and enjoy a campfire and the whole camping experience. Good place for kids. There are several campsites with horse stalls for the equestrian campers.

  Sweetwater is perched near a Freeway/Toll Road (not a terribly busy one) and it is under the San Diego Airport glide path for incoming flights. So yeah, a little more city than some other campgrounds.

  At this time sites cost between $26 and $36 (?) per night. That gets yo one motor vehicle. Additional vehicles are $4 per night. There is a $1 pet fee, per pet.

  Circle RV Resort

  I had a reservation for a week the beginning of June. I called them up, and they let me arrive early because of an issue with another RV park. I wish I remembered the woman’s name. Place is well taken care of, but there are a lot of regular residents, and they park their cars everywhere. Empty spaces, half in the space, half in the street, it was nuts. I guess there’s a new manager who said she has her work cut out for her. Cell service was good (Consumer Cellular). The internet sucked because you could get it free for 5 days, but then had to spend if you’re there longer, and the speed was terrible. Plus you could only connect one device to it. No Smart TV, iPhone, iPad, and laptop. Just one device! In this day and age that is nuts. Got about 20 OTA channels, but only one major network, NBC. Laundry is with your debit card, but wicked expensive, $3.75 wash, $3.75 dry. Short walking distance to numerous stores, fast food joints, and to make you feel safe, a Highway Patrol office is right across the street. Nice and quiet, full hook-ups, gravel with a cement slab driveway, but very small. And they allowed ShadePro to install a new awning on my rig! Despite the negatives, I’d stay here again.

  Thousand Trails Oakzanita Springs

  A nice dispersed RV resort

  A beautiful RV resort, stayed pretty dispersed by staying in couple tent sites.

  Wouldn’t come again this time of year without a heater, as it got uncomfortably cold at night. But the bathrooms are kept warm and very clean. The lodge is also warm and clean, worked out of there a couple of mornings, and the Wi-Fi was actually decent.

  Leapin' Lizard RV Ranch

  Very clean and friendly

  Staying here for the fall, winter, spring season. The facilities are very clean with a beautiful pool and spa. The rates are reasonable especially if staying long term. It’s mostly quiet although there are off road vehicles around they’re not too irritating. There are occasional fireworks. It feels very safe here. Lots of shade.

  Admiral Baker RV Park

  Beautiful clean RV park within a park

  RV spots are arranged in a horseshoe around a park with a playground. Sites on outside of horseshoe have to walk between interior sites to get to the park, bathrooms and laundry. Wi-Fi is good enough to work remotely. We didn’t try streaming.

  Adjacent to the RV park are sports fields, picnic areas and a golf course.

  The dog park is nice and clean and is reserved for RV park guests. The pool is beautiful and has a two-story tall slide. The pool is closed this summer and next (2022-23) but is normally open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

  RV park is open to military and retired military.

  Olive Avenue RV Resort

  Nice new place, but very close and not level

  We stayed here a couple of nights to visit our son in Carlsbad near by.  

  The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but the site we requested was never available according the to staff (not a big issue,  but for those how are big on getting what they reserve, take note).  There are lots of full time residents here as well.  Not sure I would call it a 'resort' … kind of a stretch and not really a destination location.

  The park is basically new and well laid out for the size lot available.  Paved surfaces and well maintained landscaping.  We had a pull through site with full hook ups; it was on a cement pad that was nice, but the city made them slope all the pads for water drainage … a huge amount!  We maxed our our tongue on multiple boards to level off (note, the staff offered even more if we needed them). Regardless, the sites are close together so don't plan on enjoying a quite meal outside (truly for the pull throughs, they are meant to just to park an RV … the back ends in the corners look like they have more room).

  When pulling into the park, take note there is a MH park to the right that the RV park owners own as well. So, stay to the right of the drive.

  There is a pool and a dog run (it appears many dog owners don't pick up … argh).  The dog run did have large rocks making if difficult to walk and most likely clean, but it was well covered and lite for night time.

  I would stay here again to visit my son.

  Dixon Lake Campground

  Great forestry feel. And good price ($30)

  We stayed here multiple times to car camp and have stayed in sites 3, 6, and 28. We really enjoyed site 28 due to the spectacular views of Escondido. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because their can be some creepy people occasionally like some old guy was following my son in his car. But other than that we had a good stay. If you are in a camper I would recommend Escondido RV resort instead due to the more inviting feel (we stayed there in our Coleman travel trailer). But if you car camp a lot like myself I would recommend staying here at Dixon lake. Great stay overall👍😊

  Pala Casino Spa Resort

  Excellent Facility

  The Pala RV park is a very nice and well kept location. Full hookups on what looks like every spot. 30/50 amp, water, sewer, and cable available on all spots. A few spots have grills that allow for charcoal grilling, but not all. Propane fills also available on site. Amenities like restrooms and showers are very clean. Only down side is lack of things for small children to do. Pool is great but could use a playground for the kids
