KQ Ranch Resort

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting in the hills above Julian, KQ Ranch Resort operates as a membership campground through Colorado River Adventures, though non-members can access stays via affiliated programs like RPI for around $13 a night. The resort sits at elevation with open sightlines toward the Anza-Borrego Desert, and several reviewers specifically note the views from upper sites. It's a family-oriented property with a structured resort feel rather than a backcountry experience.

Sites are gravel and rarely level, so leveling blocks are worth packing. All sites include water and electric hookups, and some add sewer, with a maximum RV length of 40 feet. The access roads are manageable for most rigs, though reviewers flag that few sites are flat enough to skip the levelers. Amenities include a heated pool, hot tub, mini golf, disc golf, fishing, laundry, ranch house dining, and over 40 cabins. On the first Saturday of each month, the Wolf Education Project brings wolves on-site for an educational visit. No Wi-Fi is available, though cell service generally works.

Pinezanita RV Park & Campground sits just to the west for campers who prefer a non-membership option, and William Heise County Park is a short drive away with additional hiking access. Jaraine C. describes the setting as "up in the mountains, quiet, and beautiful with a friendly staff." Prospective visitors should know upfront that stays may come with a membership sales pitch, so arriving with that expectation makes the experience more straightforward.

Always a good experience

KQ Ranch is ran by CRA. We stay through RPI. $13 a night includes $3 resort fee.

The staff here are very nice. Most treat you like family. And KQ is definitely a family resort. All sites have w/e and some have sewer. The sites are relatively easy to get into. You will need levelers as few sites a level. Lots of activities, especially in the summer months. Ranch house meals are very good. We’ve stayed here plenty of times and have loved it every time.

SiteSorry. I won’t tell you .

Nice weekend getaway

Great campground for the family and kids. Every first Saturday of the month they have the Wolf Education Project come visit with their wolves. It was really neat for the kids and adults to learn and pet the wolf. They have so many different activities for the family. I gave it 4 stars because there wasn’t any Wi-Fi, but still had cellphone service.

KQRANCH

This is membership campground, timeshare. My wife and I are here as temporary trial members to see if we would like to buy in to the timeshare. I don’t believe that we will be buying a timeshare here as the cost is very high.

Spacious RV spots

This is a membership campground part of Colorado River Adventures. We stayed for free as part of their marketing program so they can pitch you the membership. The membership is like a timeshare. Not worth it for us (if it is worth it to you, check out Craigslist for people selling theirs). That being said I would love to come back to this campground. We had spot 192, a beautiful view of Anza Borrego Desert, nice and shady, far from amenities so not a lot of people passing by. We had our bikes so we got the amenities fine. They have mini golf, frisbee golf, and a heated pool which are open in 2020. Most other amenities are not open. Took off a star because the power kept going out, water pressure was minimal and the pool closed randomly.
