    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Sherwood, Arkansas range from established sites with full amenities to dispersed camping areas in nearby forests. Maumelle Park, located along the Arkansas River, provides electric and water hookups for both tent and RV camping with riverfront sites that are highly sought after. Downtown Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock offers urban camping with full hookups, while Camp Robinson Dispersed Site provides a more primitive experience for tent campers seeking solitude. Several locations, including Little Rock North KOA and Indian Lakes Resort, also feature cabin accommodations for those preferring more shelter.

Access to most campgrounds in the region remains consistent year-round, with many sites open throughout all seasons. Developed campgrounds like Maumelle Park and Downtown Riverside RV Park require reservations, especially during warmer months when waterfront sites fill quickly. Most established campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with many offering full sewer connections for RVs. Primitive camping at Camp Robinson offers free sites but lacks amenities such as drinking water, toilets, or trash service. Road conditions generally allow standard vehicle access to most established sites, though dispersed areas may require more careful navigation. A visitor noted that Maumelle Park is "a getaway go to spot for quiet rest. Beautiful panorama view of the Arkansas river. Amenities are great."

Waterfront camping represents a significant draw in the area, with several campgrounds situated along the Arkansas River providing scenic views and recreational opportunities. Maumelle Park and Willow Beach both feature waterfront sites that receive consistently positive reviews for their access to fishing and boating. Campers frequently mention the convenience of Little Rock North KOA and Downtown Riverside RV Park for their proximity to urban attractions while still providing a camping experience. One camper shared that Downtown Riverside RV Park offers "great location with easy access to the Arkansas River Trail, the Clinton library, restaurants and other attractions." Sites with shade are particularly valued during summer months, with several reviewers highlighting the mature trees at Maumelle Park as a significant benefit for comfort during hot Arkansas summers.

      Lake Catherine State Park Campground

      Cute and busy

We liked Lake Catherine State Park. My husband tried fishing, to no avail. I chose swimming and was also a little let down. The water by camp is extremely shallow. Even 50 ft from bank youre only in 2 ft of water.. so I opted for floating and it was perfect. My husband had my float tied around his waist while he waded around trying to fish. It was honestly magical. The bathrooms, which contain a couple of stalled showers, are some of the cleanest we've seen in all our travels. A lot of the sites are directly on the water and it looks like each group of sites has its own dock, so thats really cool. The waterfall had no falls bc it hasnt rained here in some time. There was a really nice shop that had ice, wood, souvenirs, a few groceries, and practical items like sunscreen and bug spray as well as rv stuff, like pipes and hoses. There is watercraft rental here but we didnt check that out. 2 nights cost us $52 for 30 amp, water hookup, right by the bathhouse and a site on the water. It was honestly worth it. Probably would have stayed longer if it had been a little cheaper though.

      Sweet Escape RV Resort

      Must place to camp

Second time staying there. Even better than the first time. The dog park is fabulous, enough room for 2 German Shepherds to run. We were able to pick blackberries, walking trails are so well maintained.

      Maumelle COE campground

      Beautiful and peaceful

A quiet, beautiful campground with lots of riverside spots. Bathrooms and showers are just fine but be aware that the F loop is a bit of a hike to the nearest one.

      Willow Beach

      Really nice campground

This was our second time at this campground. The sites are very large and spacious. Trees for shade. It has a nice playground and also a boat ramp. The bathrooms are ok, but what I really like about them, is you get the complete room. Shower, sink, toilet. Not a little hot stall. Water on both sides of the campground for fishing. And the water hyacinths are beautiful!!

    Guide to Sherwood

Camping sites near Sherwood, Arkansas range from primitive areas without amenities to full-service campgrounds with cabin rentals. The region sits at the convergence of the Arkansas River Valley and Ouachita foothills, creating diverse camping environments within a 30-mile radius. Summer temperatures typically exceed 90°F between June and September, with high humidity making waterfront camping locations particularly desirable.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Willow Beach offers excellent fishing access along the Arkansas River. A camper noted, "Beautiful campsite along the Arkansas River. The sites are all very spacious with very long back in driveways. Some of the sites had covered picnic tables, which was great."

Walking trails: At Downtown Riverside RV Park, campers can access the Arkansas River Trail directly from the campground. A visitor shared, "You can take a walking bridge across the river directly into downtown Little Rock."

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds feature playground equipment for children. At Toad Suck Campground, families appreciate the extensive play areas. One camper mentioned, "The kids enjoy the playgrounds x 3, walking, plenty of open space, and watching the barges coming down the river."

    What campers like

Privacy levels: Camp Robinson Dispersed Site provides isolated camping without facilities. A camper reported, "Great spot to pitch a tent by lake Conway. Isolated but not too far out."

Level camping pads: Willow Beach earns praise for well-maintained sites. One reviewer specifically mentioned, "The sites are extremely level! I didn't even need to level my pop-up camper!!"

Urban access: Little Rock North KOA balances outdoor camping with city proximity. A camper shared, "This place was great. Close to all things Little Rock without feeling like you're in the middle of the city. Nice level, cement, pull through spots."

    What you should know

Heat management: Summer camping requires preparation for high temperatures. At Willow Beach, a camper advised, "It is near water so there are a lot of mosquitos, so come prepared. I definitely put on bug spray right away."

Security considerations: Some dispersed camping areas experience irregular traffic. At Camp Robinson, one camper reported, "I woke up at 11pm to someone driving in then 12:30am then at 1:30 a loud truck came in slinging rocks and a guy was screaming out the window."

Bathroom facilities: Maumelle Park bathrooms receive mixed reviews. One camper noted, "Shower was a bit moldy but usable (why I gave the cleanliness rating only 4 stars)," while another mentioned, "We used our trailer showers. Public showers need a renovation."

    Tips for camping with families

Wildlife viewing: Toad Suck offers opportunities to observe river traffic and wildlife. A visitor reported, "The kids enjoy the playgrounds x 3, walking, plenty of open space, and watching the barges coming down the river."

Swimming options: Indian Lakes Resort features unique water recreation. A camper described it as having "great fishing, swimming (water slides & diving boards in the middle of the lake) and fun for the whole family."

Safety precautions: Be aware of wildlife at certain campgrounds. At Willow Beach, a camper warned, "We encountered lots of snakes. I shooed a few off the road and they disappeared as soon as they slithered into the grass, so to me it's pretty risky walking around or letting kids play in the grass."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Downtown Riverside RV Park, certain sites accommodate multiple rigs. A visitor observed, "Lots of pull through and back in sites, some are long enough you can put two rigs in (and there are hookups for two as well!)"

Leveling requirements: Toad Suck presents challenges for certain loops. One RVer warned, "Loop A seems for smaller campers, and very unlevel. Loop C seems a bit more spaced out."

Seasonal considerations: Flooding occasionally impacts campgrounds. A camper at Toad Suck mentioned, "Recently reopened after flooding. Nice new spots. Clean."
